When I play GTA San Andreas, it runs really slowly and I don't know what's the problem.

My computer specs meet the recomened requirements to the game.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

I've checked everything and my computer meets the requirements.Yes?
What does it do?It creates a (automated) dxdiag report.
If you prefer to do it yourself: click Start > Run... type in
dxdiag
click OK.
Select to save all information. Open the textfile in Notepad , select All, Copy, then Paste into your next reply.

So we can confirm. :)

Here it is ;)

Mad Tony

So does my computer meet the requirements?

Joseph

Oops sorry for the delay, don't be Mad, Tony. :p

I think your PC fits the requirements, although Radeon 9200 is a weak card, a basic card not designed to run games well. You could try though...

Why do you use VERY outdated ATI drivers?

Update your ATI drivers to Catalyst 6.3, which is stable. I have not tested 6.6 (released today) yet. Don't take 6.5 and 6.4, as they have a colour-problem with Legend.

Download and install Catalyst 6.3 from HERE (https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=293) (take the full Catalyst Control Center Package).
Read the notes! You must first install Microsoft .Net Framework. Then you must first uninstall previous ATI drivers with the Cat.uninst.exe.

Notes:

ATI recommends Windows XP Service Pack 2 or higher (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx) to be installed.
You must have Microsoft .NET Framework (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en) installed prior to downloading and installing the Catalyst Control Center
The Catalyst Uninstaller (http://support.ati.com/ics/support/DLRedirect.asp?fileIDExt=050553d40196ef109fff37cbb 40aaf28&accountID=737&deptID=894) is an optional download. We recommend using this utility to uninstall any previously installed Catalyst drivers prior to installation.
Catalyst Control Center is available in a bundle supporting other languages .

The reason I am using outdated ATI drivers is because that's what came with the computer and I haven't got a new graphics card or anything.

the game is working at normal speed now, I lowered the resolution and it seemed to work.

Thanks for your help ;)

Don't forget also to defrag your hard drive on regular basis.

I think you miss the point why you should update the drivers. Drivers are constantly improved by the card's manufacturer, so that the latest games and graphic applications run more efficiently.

Well, firstly your directX is corrupted so you will have to download the latest version from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=0A9B6820-BFBB-4799-9908-D418CDEAC197&displaylang=en

Also, your graphics drivers are out of date so update them here: http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeon-prer300-xp.html

Your AC97 audio drivers are very old too and you can find some new ones here:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#1

Your motherboard drivers are ancient as well but without more information I can't help you there.

Welcome to the forums btw :wve: Forgot to say before hand :p

Did you install both the catalyst program and directX?

First you'll need to remove the old drivers. Click on Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.

You see list of installed programs. Look for ATI Display Drivers or similar. Click on it and click change/remove and follow the Uninstall wizard to remove the drivers. Reboot.

Next double click on the downloaded drivers. Follow the instructions and let them install. Reboot.

Do the same with the AC97 audio drivers you've downloaded and the same for DirectX. :wve:
