sorry to ask but reading that interview made me think, that core didn't want to make tr1 and 2 remake and when rebelion brought them they drop the project becuase they were too fustrated and burnt out like all the other games they made but now they had the oportinity to drop the project:)
sorry if i affended bandit and other core emplorers
Where does it say they didn't want to do the remake in the interview?
It does not say so anywhere in the interview, and from the comments I read both here in the forum and on the official Core website, I think they were actually a little sad to have this taken away from them.
Of course, one could wonder why Core did this when they pointed out in the interview that many of them were glad to do something new instead of just Tomb Raider all the time, but I guess since they were still owned by Eidos at the time, they didn't have much choice.
It looked really good in a 'let's go out with a Bang, and a "HAH :p" towards Eido$', which was fantastic as Eido$ probably (just assuming!) would've felt like eejits for giving TR to Crystal, thinking Core couldn't make a TR anymore.
I think that there had been enough turn over at Core (i.e. I do not think Mellow Yelow had worked on previous TR games) so that the new blood would have been excited about a TR game.
Well it was only a remake, the story was already there, they just had to update it and put a few suprises in there, they were already working on the free running engine, which is why so many of the moves are similiar in both games, they just adapted the same engine for Tomb Raider most likely. They probably enjoyed their work on the AE game more than previous Tomb Raider games. They already knew it would be their last game, and really wanted to prove they could still do a great Tomb Raider game, and bow out of the franchise on a high note. Unfortunately something seems to have gone wrong somewhere, and theirs was cancelled, it would have been a great game, and it would have been completed on time, the sale could have always been delayed a bit to give them time to finish it. Hopefully when Crystal Dynamics release their game we will understand why we did not get our remake
Basically, core was excited about doing the remake, if you read their posts! http://www.storagebin.us/smilies/smilies/bounce.gif It was STUPeidos that pulled the plug and killed it! http://www.storagebin.us/smilies/smilies/rant.gif
