You have many processes running. Example: RKLauncher.exe.
RK Launcher = Apple Dock For Windows
For all Windows users out there that are jealous of the unique user interface offered by OS X’s dock, this one is for you. A brilliant little Windows application called RK Launcher is now in beta, and it adds a dock-like interface to Windows XP. With support for themes, PNG’s and ICO’s and with smooth amazing animations,RK Launcher is a versatile and great taskbar replacement. UberIcon Manager.exe: "UberIcon Manager.exe" is the main executable for UberIcon software, which is a desktop enhancement utility that adds special effects to Explorer and the Desktop. This is a non-essential program. Disabling or enabling it is down to your preference.

Possibly, you are loading your desktop settings too much with 3d party programs (first mentioned is a beta) to enhance the looks. This can cause serious graphical slowdowns!

ok.. but still i had all these when i had my X300 is it nothing to do with refresh rate? coz the text in the middle of the screen (what ever it may b) is more blury than the text either side, which is sharper... i remeber i incresed the refresh rate on my dads computer and the bluryness disapeared.. only problem is ive already got mine at 75hz

I don't think this has to do with the refresh rate, pythontrainer.
Are you sure the X1600 is getting enough power?

oooooo.... maybe not, how do i check how much power i have and how much it needs..and then if needs be, how to get more power?

Well, if i'm not mistaken, your PC originally has a S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR onboard graphics chip. Originally it is a lightweight Office PC. So it will have a simple lightweight PSU, most probably not more than 250 - 300 Watt.
To check what is in it, you'd have to open the case. The info about type / manufacturer / power is on a sticker. But i am certain it is not enough for your card.
I would advise you to replace it with a good 450 Watt. Look on this page (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=792566)for Mid-High End = Under$100. :)

Also, did you build the X1600 in yourself? Is the onboard chip disabled in BIOS? Since you have an AGP card, is the AGP Aperture size in BIOS set to 128MB?

To come back to your initial post:
when i watch dvds ive used loadsa different players, but the same thing happens, once ive seen a face and the screen blacks out the image kinda stays on the screen but in a ghostly outlined way, or if theres fast movement its really ghostly, i didnt have this problem with my older graphics card :( was wondering if any1 that can understand my problem know a way of helping it...The 'ghosty' effect can also be caused by the monitor itself. What type is it, and what response time does it have, if you don't know, post the specifications/model, things you DO know.

Also, it is possible you are missing some codec.
Download and install the XP-codec pack version 1.3.4. (http://www.xpcodecpack.com/) :)

thanks but im in the UK, u dont happen to know any good UK retailers do you? :) Also, did you build the X1600 in yourself? Is the onboard chip disabled in BIOS? Since you have an AGP card, is the AGP Aperture size in BIOS set to 128MB?
all i can say is i took out the old card i had, and put in the new one, which is 512mb, do i have to change sumthin? if i can and do, will it improve performance??

Also the thing about the Ghostly effect is that the ghostly part of it doesnt disapear, its almost like the previous scene burns onto the screen untill something moves in front of it......im sry its hard to explain!

PS thx for the codec :D

was looking around, would these be ok? also how do i find out if i can put it into my computer, or are they all universal so what ever one i buy my pc will take it?
