View Full Version : What did you play as a kid??
My first real game was Mixed Up Mother Goose. Then I'd play stuff like Commander Keen - I loved that game! Then I moved onto Monkey Island.
I also watched my dad play Prince of Persia (original one that you only had an hour to do. I think they brought out another one later where you got extra time...) and King's Quest 5. Both scared me and I spent most of the time hiding under the desk. I was such a brave kid.
What games did everyone else play??
(I'm talking primary school here...)
I dont remember so good, becouse my memory is going to be dead lol, but I think it was Mario (on sega or somethin like that, and I was 6 or 7) and on PS it was Teken 3, then Spyro (still like that game, me like little kid), then Resident Evil 3, then 1st and second Resident Evil (still I didnt end second one) Then Tomb Raider 2 and so on.:D
Yes it was Commander keen with me too XD.
i loved that game back then :p.
yeah I downloaded commander keen recently off www.dosgames.com but it just wasn't as exciting as it used to be...:(
I Would have to say Space Harrier on the Sega Master System:tmb: and any Star Wars game, if i'm lucky enough to play any of those games now the hairs on the back of my neck still stand up.
My first ever computer game was a game for AMIGA, called Cadaver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadaver_(computer_game)). Given the time it had brilliant graphics (as you can see if you follow the link) and a good storyline.
Then I advanced to Monkey Island (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_of_Monkey_Island), fell in love with it, went on to the second and tird and fourth of the series over the years. But the first two were the best. Ever. :)
I can only really remember playing The sonic games, Super Mario brothers, erm... Mortal Kombat... and then everything went 3D... along came Spyro.... and i remember a really really random game... where you were all butterflys, and you walked around this massive mansion, trying to work out who murdered this guy, and had to go into certain rooms ect, worked out that i guy called 'Edmond' me thinks killed him, at the end you just float in the sky, was so damn weird... it was actually pretty scary... Anyone remember it?
I've just recalled another one. On the Commodore Amiga I also played Lemmings (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemmings_%28video_game%29), which was seriously the best timekiller ever invented. I've spent hours. *sigh* Those were the days! :D
My first electronic game was a borrowed Atari at the age of 16 :D
I used to watch my dad play video games on the NES/Master System from a young age, there are a few I remember playing with him
1/Super Mario on the NES
2/ Ghouls and Ghosts on the Sega Mega Drive (Seriously, this game is HARD, I recently rediscovered it and could get past the first level)
2/ Sonic the Hedgehog (The original, and the level skip cheat up-down-left-right A+start has always stuck in my head :D )
3/ Lemmings on the Sega Mega Drive.
I was born in 1986 and played these games around 1992, so I was pretty bad at them. :cln:
...I miss those days :o
Spence, oh my god..i hav'nt seen this game for ages:yah: brings back so many memories.
I would play games my dad and me used to make for the ZX Spectrum.
i'm a kid. But when I was young like 3 year I played super mario all stars:)
I was all into building/managment and life simulations...
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2
Now I'm more for action-adventures, and sometimes driving and horror games...
I'm still a kid in that age. I play:
The Sims 2
RollerCoaster Tycoon 3
With a Nes my 1st console the one who makes me love video games now.:)
Tomb Raider :tmb:
I remember playing Duke Nukem I, Commander Keen, Double Dragon, that sort of games.
The first game I had was on my old Atari, and it was good old Donkey Kong! I also had Pacman, Space Invaders and some fraction game I can't remember the name of hehe.
I used to play Duke Nukem too! And Lemmings, what a great game, I still play that sometimes.
tomb raider, resident evil, crash bandicoot etc.
I'll try it in some order from my youngest favs:
Super Mario Bros
Super Mario All Stars
Super Mario World
Sonic 1 - 3 & Knuckles
BOB or something :S was a weird alien thing
Tomb Raider for the Saturn
Duke Nukem 64
Sonic Adventure 1 & 2
Roller Coaster Tycoon
Pitfall, Q-Bert and The Smurfs on Atari.
Then I got a Sinclare Spectrum and played stuff like Pac Man, Dizzy etc. Then I got a NES and played lots of Mario, then moved onto the MegaDrive/Snes, stopped gaming in about 1995 and got a PSX in 99 where my obsession started again, since then I've had Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube and a bunch of different hand-helds.
Errr, Red Rover, Kiss Chase, Tag and British Bulldog, actually... I never had a computer as a kid.
If we're talking computer games... Pong, round my neighbours. And Wizard's Crown and the Hobbit, but both took 2+ hours to load and invariably crashed after 5 mins anyway...
And there was a Space Invaders game down my Dad's local! Wayhey!
Boulder Dash, Terry Big, Aztec and a few others whose names I can't remember, on my friend's Commodore 128. I was around 4-5 at the time.
Then at the age 10 I got a Super Nintendo, with the classics like Mortal Kombat, Super Mario, Donkey Kong and - my favourite - the relatively obscure Alien 3.
Then at 15 I got a PC, and promptly forgot everything else had ever existed :D First game I played on PC was Doom.
The first game I ever played was Pong. Later in the arcades I played Mr. Do!
Lemmings and Mortal Kombat :D
I dont remember what i was playing when i was a kid. I only remember playing resident evil, crash bandicoot, mortal kombat, need for speed.

Super Mario World

Cool little games :tmb:
My first ever game was alex the kidd for the master system. I had only a few master system games before moving on to the megadrive. The sonics were my best games at the time. Streets of rage 1,2 and 3 were also among my best games then as well as countless other great games for megadrive. I was still buying megadrive games all the way up until 1998 when I finally got my playstation. My first PS game was bust a move 2, my second game was rayman. I love rayman. Croc is also a great game I used to play. Crash bandicoot and tomb raider. I've got over a hundred PS games and I love them all. In 2002 I got my PS2.
Tomb Raider I & II.
Metal Gear Solid
Sonic The Hedgehog
And some other games but I can't remember right now.
All the Sega Sonic saga, Streets Of Rage, and Mario Bros for Nes were the ones I clearly remember.:)
EDIT: And a NES game called Battle City. :)
Tomb Raider Master
Duke Nukem 3D, Warcraft 2 and Prince of Persia. :)
Forgot to mention:
Alone In The Dark and Theme Park :jmp:
The main games I would play were:
Super Mario World
Super Mario Kart
Looney Tunes B-Ball!
Donkey Kong Country
That’s pretty much all I can remember playing, but I was addicted to those games when I was a kid!
Lots of differents, some I remember are:
Sim City (the original)
Prince of Persia (always died after at most 5 minutes)
Accolade Grand Prix
Accolade Winter Games
