I dont think we'll see a trailer for a while yet...

CD released too much media prior to Legends release, and I sincerely hope they dont make the same mistakes again....

If its expected release date is around Nov 06, then I dont want to see media untill at least late august/september....and all I want is one or two official trailers... We dont need to see in-game story cinematics laike we did with legend....it completely ruins the surprises when actually playing the released game !!!!

Plus, as for "letting us know when you find out its release date"....Haha! Personally, I believe your in the same boat as us, we'll find out at the same time as you :yah: Unless of course you have some form of alliance with crystal......hehe, which i highly doubt :D

I agree. I don't want them to release screens or trailers so early, and certainly not spoil the whole story. Er, wait, if it's TR1's story that wouldn't matter...which brings me to my next point--I wish they'd confirm if it's a remake or not. So basically all I want is a yes or no now about whether it's a remake, and then maybe a trailer or two and definitely a demo a few weeks before it comes out:)

The trailer when it is released will be released on the official site, not a leaked pirated copy of an internal presentation from a cancelled game. THERE IS NO TRAILER yet
PS Yes the Core Design game trailer did look good, there are lots of older threads around talking about it

I couldn't really care less about trailers at the minute, I just wish they'ld tell us if it's actually a re-make. It's getting rather annoying.

I think I must be a Lara-holic, I already can't wait to play another Lara game. :jmp: If the AE is by CD and not Core, surely all they have to do is use the Legend engine, and so it shouldn't be as long as a 2 year wait, or am I wrong?

aussie500
15-07-06, 11:09
No probably only take about 9 months if that, and we know they started a while ago, so hopefully it will be ready in November which is the 10th anniversary

black_sheepa
15-07-06, 13:09
They sayed, that they want to release it i this year. And it would be stiupid to release an AE after an year of the anniversary!

I remember reading a topic by these apparent core employees, or something like that. Anyway, they said the game is cancelled. Was this a fake or what?

aussie500
17-07-06, 01:00
Neither game is fake, the Core game was cancelled, the Crystal Dynamics game is still being released

Joshorty
18-07-06, 00:02
So did they work on their own or did the CORE work got passed on to them:confused: and I must say:( the leakeed trailer really brought hope and excitement - seeing all the levels we've known into this generation - wooow...like Lost Valley...if it isn't a remake - then it'd be terrible for me - especially after seeing that trailer:(

tha_mattster
18-07-06, 00:04
The illegal trailer contains footage from both the CORE and CD games.

To tell which clips are from which game, look at whether she has a pony tail or a braid, and if there are giant cross hairs as seen in TRL.

Rivendell
18-07-06, 00:05
It doesn't mattster, the Illegal trailer is ALL Core. They've stated it, officially, on their site :wve:

NO WAIT you may be right:D ! I mean I remebered in the trailer, I've come across a Lara with braid and another with ponytail AT THE SAME TIME, noticable Legend engine was in there right?:D Along with levels that mostly focused - heck on the original! At the same time, the way Lara ran/walked...So I really am startin' to think this is a remake..then again, anythin' can change...

You're talking about the trailer! That was all core, no CD, no legend lara- old lara; That was a Complete TR1 remake, updated graphics and moves with some extras. That's the one we're not going to see.

We're just going to have to wait and see what CD come up with, whether it be a remake, or a based / styled game on the classic TR's.

Who knows.

thevman
18-07-06, 18:25
Yes, core said the trailer was used as a demo and they showed different hairstyles to see which one eidos would prefer, it's all core's work in the trailer we saw. See the official facts thread for all of core's quotes... ;)

OMG I thought that as well. Need to go re-look;) I still think it was a friendly thing betwen Eidos/Core and a gentle 'push' for the Core Free Running Game...:D

So, let me get this straight: Core WAS developing a remake of TR1, but it was cancelled, and now CD IS making a remake? Or is CD just making a second game?

Most likely both Crystal Dynamics and Core Design were working on seperate Anniversary Edition games at the same time, and at some point some bright spark at Eidos seems to have decided to check what they were doing and worked out they were both doing updated versions of the first game. So the Core one was cancelled :( and the CD one will be released, but we do not know if theirs is a faithfull remake, redux or reinterpretation. Eidos are keeping suspiciously quite about precisely what sort of game it will be. But it would have to have something to do with Tomb Raider 1 for them to cancell the Core game which looked fantastic, and would have been completed on time if they had been allowed to finish it

In all honesty, here's what I think happened. Core was told to work on an anniversary edition of TR while CD was doing Legend. That way, if Legend was a flop, they could advertise AE as the "Return to the roots" game that Legend was promised to be. Then when Eidos saw that Legend sold so well, they said, "Nevermind, Core. CD, you do the remake."

Good thought. I hope CD doesn't mess it all up. If this flops, the Lara we all love will be dead, to make way for the future generations.

CD: !@#$%^& choices = !@#$% bad game. Don't make it bad. Leave it the way it was.

EDIT: Wait, no....thats insulting to monkeys...

Ok, I say we all blame Eidos if it isn't the best. I mean, afterall, they have the say as to who does it. That means they are responsible if it gets ruined.

They didn't say remake Crofty, they said Anniversary Edition. The only thing suggesting it might be a remake is PSM magazine saying 'can't wait to play TR1 in legend graphics', which I can't see having any more confirmation on it being a remake than anyone else on this site saying They can't wait to play TR1 in legend graphics.
Noooobody knows. Apart from Cd. And probably Eido$.

22-07-06, 14:42
Oh, l am sure Eidos also knows they are just going to wait until the latest possible moment to tell us. Which makes me highly suspicious that the game will not be quite what we are expecting. l still think it will be good though

The last thing we need is CD chopping off parts of the game so that Eidos can release it on all platforms

Agree, I hate games that come in between current gen and next gen such as TR Legend and AE which hopefully will only be those three platforms, if any other platform I would say PS3 come on next gen launch game would be awesome! plus like you said all the different codes and stuff really get in the way although they probably have several teams probably one for Xbox and PS2 one for Xbox 360 and another for nintendo and handhelds! Personally Eidos and Crystal should scrape future TR handheld games that are only ports from console to handhelds like Legend. And instead they should let other companies make handheld original TR like nintendo and ubisoft did! Crystal should only focus on consoles and if any they should keep it to 2 or 3 including PC so if anything TR 8 should be Xbox 360 PS3 PC and if not that PS3 PC. Although TR was and is original a semi multi platform only PS and PC I wouldn't mind it going on Xbox 360 as long as its only those three since PS3 and Xbox 360 are most closely model towards a PC unlike Nintendo's Wii!

Plus the likelyhood of TR staying only PS3 and PC is further going away considering Third party companies are seeing more money in multiplatform games, especially the annoncement of GAmestop and Ebgames taking pre-orders for PS3 oblivion, no official announcement from the developer, but it seems likely. To me it looks like PS3 and Xbox 360 will share the same games except for 1st party games from their internal companies like Insomniac games, Naughty Dog, Rare and sucker punch! Looks like either way Xbox or PS3 will be a good deal!:)

The way I see it eidos owes me another 29 days of a game! Seriously, old TR's used to take me a month to beat all the levels and find all the secrets, I beat legend in 2 days! Beat it 6 times in 2 weeks!!! That's all the secrets, unlock all the outfits, beat all the levels on all the difficulties!!!! :hea: Where is the rest of the game? 7 lousy short easy levels made me feel ripped off! :cen:

Wake up, so you had great difficulties in Classic TR, but they also trained you. In Legend (which except the bossfights is easy as a challenge) you are surprised you get through the game so easily. There are TR newbies who posted how they are stuck in Legend at many places.

I don't think many that have a full time job have been able to complete Legend in 2 days... and I'm sure most of us who were avid gamers back in '96 probably have full time jobs by now.

Perhaps, but if there is no way to turn off the "help" in Legend, then of course it's going to be a lot easier than the classics, regardless of which order someone plays them in. Also, if Legend has fewer levels than the classics, and each level is shorter and more linear, then of course Legend will be a shorter game, even if someone plays it first and then goes back to the classics.

(I haven't played Legend yet, so I can't say if it overcomes these limitations or not. Still, even if it's good, if it's got a constant walkthrough going in the background and no way to wander off the path as I've heard, then it *is* much shorter and easier compared to the original games)
