Electronic Arts (an often bashed developer and public enemy #1 everywhere on the internet except here, where EIDOS is enemy #1, LOL) has done something very important IMO. They have really pulled off a fun and easily playable RTS game on a console format with Battle For Middle Earth 2 for the Xbox 360.
Those of us who just are not PC players but would love to be able to play RTS games have been left out in the dark for the most part. It has often been said that RTS games cannot "work" on the consoles without mouse/keyboard support. That was said of FPS's as well but that has long since changed, as everyone knows. PC's are probably still the best home for RTS games if you use both PC and console but if you're a console-only person, BFME2 is a great game on the 360. The control scheme has been made from the ground up for the controller and is really pretty easy to learn and use. The High-Res models from the PC version have been used on the 360 version so the game looks great--especially in High Definition of course.
As a game BFME2 is top notch IMO. Although I've only played the first 5 missions of the "Good" campaign so far, I've had a blast--and the AI is a very solid opponent in skirmish mode too from what I've read on the message boards. Online play is also reported to be very good on Xbox Live (I'm looking forward to getting into that too). Anyway, from all the fun I've already had with this game--I can't stop thinking about getting home and playing it some more--I just wanted to make a post here to let people with Xbox 360's know just how good this game is. If you like RTS games but are unsure about playing them on a console, rest assured that this game does it right. ;)
