Better than a remake!!

I know what would be completely better than a remake of TR1. Eidos confirmed an anniversary edition and what better not do than to make 20 random levels from all of the past TRs? <Read on another post, took it, and ran with it!>

It seems really awesome to me because face it, if they do make a TR1 remake, with all the new graphics and what not, then what about TR2 or TR4! I'd rather play random, but popular, levels from all the TRs.

Maybe it could all revolve around Lara, at age 80, telling kids her adventures! Uh, nah. Nevermind. I'm a wandering mind.

It's a good idea, but would there be any story to it? Just playing the best levels is good, but if your mixing and matching from all different tomb raiders, there would be no storyline... Which would make the game pointless in a sense.

Though if they did do this idea, i'm sure they'd think of something :)

Random levels destroy the purpose of raiding tombs. The storyline needs to be there or it never makes sense and doesn't keep anyone interested. I'd rather have remakes of all the old games(AOD as well) and new ones on the side. It would be awesome to see Lara as and 80 year old tomb raider.

Amongst the shuffling to their favourite seats next to the fireplace within the main hall, the voices talk between each other. It's February 14th, Valentine's Day and Lara's birthday. She's just turned 39.
"Heheh, you're getting on a bit Lara, still surprised you can do the splits. You think you'll still be doing them in your eighties?" Zip joked.
"People in my line of work never get to that age. We get murdered, betrayed and then murdered, trapped, caved in, pushed off a cliff, heads smashed whilst jumping off a cliff or something like that."
Zip gulped, "Wish I never asked."
Lara smiled. Alister went to speak but shut his mouth. Opened. Shut. Zip spoke again. "You think you'll ever have any children?"
Winston and Lara's eyes sorrowed. She quickly hid it and spoke, "Adventuring and archaelogy are my children."
"Yeah, what is it with these 'fictional' stories of you and underground cults and Area 51? I know those utter trash lines you give the public just aren't true!"
Winston chuckled, "You're right Thomas. The 39 years of being with Ms. Lara Elizabeth and we two are the only ones that know the real truth. She's lived quite the life."
"And now, we're going to tell you the truth. Oh, Alister?"
"Yes?"
"You may want to get a mattress and some pillows, you may faint. And if it helps, holding Zip's hand might help. He is after all your-"
"Ha ha, Lara, I'm not that squeamish."
"The adventures you've been on with me are nothing compared to these ones..."

And we delve into a flashback of certain levels :D

I dislike this idea for several reasons...

1) CONTINUITY: It would be hard to get continuity between the levels and thus the story would suffer and most likely be on a par with Chronicles (disjointed with no real appeal). The suggestion of lara looking back is extremely cheesy and reminds me of a vast number of saved-by-the-bell episodes (..hehe). Given the cheeseyness of Legends storyline (an opinion)...id much rather see darker more serious storylines in the future....

2) CONTENT: You mention popular levels. And this is a problem. Who has the right to say whats good and whats not. Clearly from these forums alone it is evident that there is vast diversity amongst the TR fans. Although polls and questionairres could be used...who would be the sample? And also, these are not entirely representatve. For example, the recent "best TR3" poll by scotlee suggest that Coastal Ruins was one of the best levels of TR3. But I consider this one of the worst.

3) FAN ACCEPTANCE For arguments sake. Following legends release there was mass uproar. Fans happy. Fans devastated. Just imagine the backlash if some people 'best' levels didn't make the cut. At least with a complete remake we know every classic level we remember will be present... (at least if CD make a faithful remake :yah:

4) DIFFICULTY: Difficulty of the classic TR levels vary tremendously. Just look at TR1 and TR3s first levels; caves and jungle respectively. A MASS difference in challenge. So what would the difficulty of this 'bundle pack' be? They could try and make the earlier levels easy and the later ones harder, but this may create further restrictions and an even greater disruption of continuity.

5) MY HOPES:Personally, I would prefer entire remakes of TR1-3 with a few modifications, extra levels, extra weapons (but NO headset!!!) :yah:

Although i'm against the idea of a 'bundle pack'...(see above post). This scenario is great and really well written. Congratulations dingaling :yah:

Did you take a look at TR1 FAQ Page (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/faq/tr1.html)? It tells you how to get TR1 working on modern computers.

39!!! i dont want lara to be that old. remember shes young again now. in legend shes only in her l8 20's. i think its just best to not include an age. let ppl assume if they want. they do say never ask a lady her age.

All I meant was that she's getting on a bit but it's still possible for her to adventure. If she was 80 I doubt that'd be possible, LoL.
