What am I missing?

In OBELISK OF KHAMOON after opening the door with the Sapphire key and climbing a few ledges I come to this room with 2 mummies:

As far as I can tell, there is nothing to do here, nothing to pick up and the 2 mummies remain lifeless. So why is this room there at all? Or am I missing something?

You're for some reason supposed to slide down that slope to get into the room. Then the mummies will wake up. No reason to do that though, there's nothing else of interest in there.

There is nothing to do in there, it's kind of deceit :). But I don't know why the mummies don't wake up, maybe Virusbuster is right and you must slide down the slope.

Well, I remember replaying this level. I could not find anything useful in this room. But the mummies scared me, the music came on, "Whats going on?" and they attack!

I never entered the room via the slope (why would one anyway?), so I have always wondered about this.
Have I missed to go somewhere where I would end up using that slope?

Anyway, it does not really matter - I was just curious.

Well, if you go a little higher in that other room, you'll eventually get to a hole. That hole leads down to the slope. Obviously, there's STILL nothing of interest down there other than a free trip to the game over screen if you're unlucky.
