View Full Version : Who here wears glasses or contact lenses?

Just curious ;).

I used to wear glasses, but they gave me bad headaches . Now I wear one contact lens - hard, gas-permeable - in my right eye (for short-sightedness). The left eye has a cataract and so is pretty useless.

Whatever else I do this week I must give my lens a protein-remover soak. It's like trying to squint through frosted glass :hea:

I started wearing glasses almost two years ago. They are a bit of a pain but I've got used to them.

Well, I do need glasses for seeing things at long distance, but that's it.
I hardly use them.

Glasses, though I am thinking of switching to contacts

Me! :D

I need them for distance... I can read and use the computer fine without them, but if I want to watch TV and see something beyond vague, blobby shapes, I have to wear the old specs ;).

Oh, and they're Gucci. Dahling.

Ampersand
21-08-06, 19:28
I have glasses - bifocals. Must get new ones some time, really. My eyesight isn't great, I can't see the computer screen if I take my specs off. Not that lots of time on the PC helps my eyes. :o

My mum wears soft contact lenses, they look like a great alternative to glasses. :)

I'm supposed to wear glasses...but I couldn't be arsed with 'em.

I use both.

These days I stick with glasses because I keep forgetting to buy the All-Day wear contacts.

I dislike glasses. I look like a high school teacher's aid.

I think that, given the situation, they can be given that kind of naughty sexy look....but outside of that I don't view them that way (and certainly not on me, lol!) I agree with Cat, glasses are way to stereotypical :p

I wear glasses but just when at the computer. I would like to wear coloured contact lens though.

20/20 vision here. :D

Although I might get some purple, non perscription contacts. Purple is my favorite color. :p

Either that or I'll get those Steelers contacts. I've seen them before. :vlol:

I wear neither but unfortunately I might have to. I used to have very good eye sight but I'm having trouble reading at long distances now. This happened to my dad at about the same age and he wears glasses.

Melonie Tomb Raider
21-08-06, 20:21
My dad has to wear glasses when he reads (but he doesn't half the time :p), my mom wears glasses on all the time, and my older brother wears glasses all the time as well.

My younger brother and I have perfect vision though, so that's a blessing. :)

I have glasses but I don't wear em cuz I think I look like a nerd. I cannot read or see small tiny objects in the distance cuz I have type 1 diabetes cuz I was born with the disease that gave me it.

I wear glasses for driving and other far-sighted activities. Never wanted to try contacts, as I like the way I look in glasses.

My eyes actually improved according to my last sight test. Fancy that at my age :D

Geck-o-Lizard
21-08-06, 21:21
I wear emo/nerd glasses to read stuff and use the computer; my sight's just bad enough to warrant them to prevent eyestrain headaches. I always forget to take them off though. :p

I´ve used contacts for years. :)

I used to use green contacts. I mean REALLY green. It was so fun! :D
People kept looking at my hypnotic eyes. http://www.trle-community.net/images/smiles/pleased.gif

I wear contacts during most of the day. But I put on my glasses when I wake up to avoid stepping on my cat (happened once before, she wasn't amused).

I thought I needed glasses a few years ago, because I was having trouble seeing the board and stuff in school quite frequently. Then I went to the eye doctor and found out I have 20/20 vision. It was the weirdest thing.

21-08-06, 21:33
my vision isnt the best but i sit at the back of the class and then the teacher writes yellow on a white bvoard and then the sun comes out and makes everything completly non-see-able

She does indeed. As does Quistis.

A lot of people suit glasses and look stunning. Some don´t. I have some glasses, but I look absolutely terrible in them and never wear them in public! Thank God for contacts. I´d walk around blind without them.

I wear glasses but you'll never see me in them. When I tried to debut them in public I got told by a few friends i looked like i was going for that porno librarian look. So now I reserve that look to the comfort of my own home.

I wear soft contact lenses most of the time, especially anywhere in public, though I stick with glasses at home. This isn’t just vanity – my peripheral vision is much better with lenses, which is a definite plus when on the street.
My eyesight’s terrible – can’t see anything without my glasses/contacts if it’s more than three feet away … :( But luckily, I can read perfectly well without glasses/contacts (as long as I hold the book really close ;)).

Angelx14

Nope. No glasses no contact lenses.

I can't even wear sun glasses. They bother me and I feel I can't see at all.

With me is the same. I rarely wear sun glasses by the same reason like yours.

Not for me. Eyes are fine. Although I had to get a bit of steel drilled out once. Scary, they put your head in like a vice, deaden the eye, and down comes the drill! Freaky. And you can see it comming down.

How did steel get in your eye? And how was it in such a manner that it required a drill?

DREWY, thanks for turning my stomach upside down! :D That's freaky, indeed!

As for me, I wear glasses. I'm short-sighted since a few years.

Oh, and they're Gucci. Dahling.

Mine are too! Dahling... :D

I switched over to contacts half a week ago. Put them in once with GREAT difficulty and a lot of frustration, tears and cursing. The second day I couldn't get them in, I gave up after 2 minutes. Three days later (today) and I'm going to give them another shot. Sadistic things. I have soft ones. Does anyone have tips for putting them in?

Mytly

Moisturize your eyes before putting on your lens. I use the lens solution itself, but eyedrops work too. Then the lenses will fit more smoothly, as there will be a thin layer of moisture between them and your eyes.

I'm very near-sighted. I've been wearing coke-bottle glasses for 15 years and I'm not likely to switch to contacts any time soon, and I will never let anyone near my eyes with a laser, so I'm not getting corrective surgery either.

Our cats are the only ones in our house with perfect vision. But Jasper has had to go to the vet today because his eye is bothering him :( The vet has given us some drops to use, and what was the first thing I read on the box?

"Warning: Do not wear soft contact lenses whilst using this product."

You can just picture a cat putting contact lenses in....:pi:

@ Thorir: I've had coloured lenses before as well, as a birthday present years ago. They were bright purple :mis:
