This is Tomb Raider's answer to Da Vinchi Code......

Has anyone else noticed that TR has a fixation with the number four? :pi: After going over the main puzzles and challenges in the TR games, almost all of them have something to do with the number four.

In TRIII there are four artefacts and the four elements puzzle. IN TRIV, under the pyramid, there are four chambers from which you need to get four key stones, and four holy scriptures.

These are only a couple of examples. Can you remember others? They seem to crop up alarmingly often.....

My brain is hurting right now so I'll leave the rest to the others, LoL :D

Nah, number 4 is just nice cause if you're in one room it looks better if it has something on every side of the world (doors, columns, etc.), at least I think that's the reason... :D

Number 3 is also featured a lot... :)

Legend - The 4 book puzzle in Croft Manor
Legend - 4 people live in Lara's mansion. (Well I assume Zip, Winston and Alistair live there. Lara obviously lives there)
TR2 - 4 snowy based levels.
TR5 - 4 Scenario's

Oh yes. The Last Revelation was originally intended to be the last ever game where Lara really died.

How's this for weird: The release date for TR1 in the UK was the 22nd of November 1996, according to wikipedia.com.

2+2+1+1+1+9+9+6 = 31
3+1 = 4

(US release date added up to 6, but as the game is British, that doesn't matter :p)

On Tomb Raider I, II and III there are usually 4 levels to each area.
E.g. 4 levels in the India section on TR III.

Four hours? Yeah, maybe if you have no fingers. And only one arm. And your PS2 isn't connected to a moniter, and you're playing the game whilst simultaneously fighting a killer shark tied to a T-Rex. :p

It's even among us. Look at how this thread has four pages if you happen to have the default post count per page!

Also, look at how in classic Tomb Raiders, everything is laid out on a grid of quads with FOUR sides each!

Tomb Raider is usually played on a four-sided screen!

Including this one, I have exactly four points!

Greenkey2

Pyramids and obelisks have four sides...

Lara has to find four gate keys to open the Great Pyramid in TR 4...

There are four keys needed to enter the Colloseum level in Chronicles...

Oh my God four has taken control of Tomb Raider as we know it! :yik: :vlol:

Four characters live in Croft Manor - Lara, Winston, Zip and Alister!

At least, I'm assuming the Ali and Zip live there.

yeah, it's pretty bad in legend... they used it to excess i think

- four underwater switches in peru for lara to pull.

- four statues to take cover behind in the round room in which we fight takamoto.

- four things to grapple in the boss fight with rutland.

- four switches to pull in the kazakstan boss fight with the best.

- four tesla orbs to shoot in the kazakstan boss fight with the beast.

- four bells to grapple in the boss with fight with the snake.

- stab amanda four times with excalibur.

:tea: i think the number four is fine in an elemental puzzle... but for every boss fight? pffff
