I already know the R1 Blu-Ray is ****. The image on the DVD looks heavily filtered and the colors (even in the scenes occurring in 'reality') appear too hot. Some shots look pretty respectable, while others look like Sony didn't bother at all.

As for how the film is supposed to look, this DVD transfer looks like another example of a trend big studios love to wallow in nowadays. Those mastering for DVD needlessly tinker with the image presentation to give the impression of an eye-popping picture, but they go too far and make it look unrealistic with hot and thick coloration.

What it should look like:

And what it does look like.

The Blu-ray is inconsistent probably because the regular DVD is as well. Eventhough I'm picking up the UK R2 tomorrow from work, I'll also be interested in picking up the French R2 and Korean R3 when they're released.

Sean Bean is a pasty white man, not an orange body bronzer!

November 22nd Japan will be releasing an Ultimate Edition boxset. 3 disc set with a large production booklet and custom 'big box'. Asking price is $75, which is the standard kinda prices boxsets go for in Japan so I'm not too taken back by that. Again I'm still holding out for the French and Korean releases but this sounds pretty cool all the same.

This would have been a much better cover than the current one. :(

Camera Obscura's probably talking about the hideous R1 cover. :p

For sure good bonus features can be a selling point for me, and of course a good transfer is always a must. :)

Just like to add that disc 2 'The Silent Hill Experience' on the Japanese R2 set is the same the America's 'Best Buy' exclusive second disc.

Anywho I got my copy this morning and I'm gonna watch it tonight in the wee small hours. ;)
