Just a question i've been wanting to ask you guys..

Say, in The Lost Valley, when confronting the T-Rex, do you take it head on or do you look for a safety option, ie, shooting from an alcove?

What-ever strategy, do you tend to maintain this throughout the game?

I've played it so much - I go all out warfare, chucking in a few cool flips and rolls here, there and everywhere. You can run circles around 'em.:mis: First time trhough, I would be lacking health (and ammo usaually, and be cacking my pants, so finding higher ground and/or retreating as much as possible.(Not always possible in confined spaces.) The key first time through is to use pistols as much as possible, save your big guns for the latter portion of the game - makes life way easier. :tmb:

You see that is the problem. In the latter stages of the game when, say, confronting a mummy, i'ld just panic and whip out the shotgun and waste prescious ammo...

The first time i came across the T-Rex i went head to head all guns a blazing so to speak, this is only because it took me by supprise, so all the other times i played the game i used the same tack-tick which made it more exciting. IMO through the game you judge the situation as it arises to either go for it head on or find somewhere to gain an advantage.

I always duck into that cave you see on the right hand side.

When trying to use just pistols for most of the game, I try to find a place for Lara to hide, like the caves on the right. If you're quick enough, Lara can just run past all the critters, bearing left, and climbing up the two columns in front of the cave that leads to the suspension bridge. This leaves the T-rex and the 4 raptors just wandering around below.

I may have found the limit on number of active enemies, which is 14. In Unfinished Business, The Hive level, there is a room with 16 mummies that can't climb or jump. Lara can run out of this room, triggering all 16, bearing right into the next hallway, then left and jumping up onto a block. Once on the block, 14 of the 16 mummies will show up. This is in one of my savegames for the hive. The other mummies won't trigger until Lara kills the mummies in the room with her.

My old way: Run under the broken bridge to the right, there is a corridor with a raptor that leads to an opening halfway up the cliff further down the valley

My new way: Leave him alone! If you keep moving, and you have to know where you're going, he won't catch you.

I run back to the entrance and climb up on the ledge and take him out from there. That way I get a better view of the T-Rex. (its such a beautiful creature :D )

I don't maintain such a strategy throughout the game. There are ememies I love taking head-on !!

The T-Rex isn't actually to difficult to kill to be honest, just don't wanna get cornered.

Usually, I go head on and if they get too close I do a backflip. If I was up against a human I'd find some cover and try to not get shot.

I also tend to lose alot of patience if i'm just tediously waiting on an enemy to appear to get a good shot...

exactly,.. t rex is a menor problem compare to the mummies,.. they are more problematicals becouse they jump everywhere, and also shoot u,.. the point always is to jump from one side to another,.. and then to another,.. like a three steps jump,.. and when that, no one ever reach u,.. at least that my strategy since the firt tomb raider till the 5th,.. in aod and legends,. the things change,.. espceially for the aiming and running at the same time,.. sucks,..

i also use to run from one side to the other,.. or just run around the animal,.... even the big boss fron atlantis can be killed with pistols and with out him touching you

I always duck into that cave you see on the right hand side.

I always side jump to the block right next to that cave. The T-Rex follows the same rules as the smaller opponents (excluding gorillas); he can't get you from a block that is around as high as Lara's waist.

Depending on how much ammo or life I have will determine whether I shoot from a safe distance or go in full blast.

A little of both, really. I run at em to trigger them, shooting as they come. Usually take the first two raptors out before old t-rex starts banging around. :jmp: Blast him till he gets too close for comnfort, then duck in a cave and blast from there. Some times he disappears too long and I have to run around to get him to come over. :mis: Then the last two raptors I take head on again. :yah:

Saftey first...

I am such a coward all the way through TR1 - if I can hide from it / shoot from a ledge, I will. Probably explains why I damn near had a heart attack in Atlantis...

As for the T-Rex - I hide in the little passageway and shoot from there. If it goes too far, I hop out and then hop back in again... :o

Oh yeah, don't forget the other two raptors, one in each cave, one of the caves has a gear for the mechanism to open the big door in the river feeding the falls... ;)
