Many of you will be aware that Gamesmaster Magazine is running a full-page advertisement (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=73955) announcing the official unveiling of Tomb Raider Anniversary Edition in next month's magazine.
This will not be happening. Before you ask, I don't know the particulars, including whether an exclusive deal with Eidos was ever hammered out. All I can confirm is that Gamesmaster will not be unveiling Tomb Raider Anniversary in next month's magazine, contrary to advertisements.

Interesting. Were they outright wrong, or were they referring to the unveiling of the DVD game and we all just thought it meant the AE?
This sucks. Still nothing at all on the mysterious AE...

That wouldn't surprise me at all. ::Sighs:: back to waiting.
It's a shame to hear that, I'm not sure what happened or whether it was just hoax on the magazine's behalf. I think it can only be a good thing. As a very loose rule, if the media is taking a while to come out, it means the game is getting plenty of work done. I'll remain optimistic about that :)

FFS, what is going on?
They have really missed the boat with this one - they're missing the hype built up around the AE and by the time we actually get something everyone won't be nearly as interested in it as they are now (or were a few months ago).

cant say i didnt see this one coming. but im glad. the less time between the announcement and the release, the better. we already know the layouts of the levels because its a remake (allegedly) so the only other surprise is the graphics. lets keep that under wraps shall we?
plus imagine how bad it would be finding out now what an awesome game TRAE is, and then having to wait till june to play it. (which is when i predict this game will be ready)
aww... was kinda looking forward to this... oh well i guess it can't be helped...

Mistery is a way of making marketing,but it also generates more expectations.
Perhaps that magazine would present a too much critical review,or perhaps Eidos considered all the media should be released after the AOD dvd.
This would be a good time to the misterious & active Eidos and CD members to post something :D!

i always thought theyd be unveiling the dvd aventure, not the AE... after all, the advert only said: a look at lara's next adventure... and so far, the next adventure coming out in november is the dvd thing ;)
but if there is no tomb raider coverage at all that is a shame.

Games magazines don't review/preview DVD Games lmao. (They're crap).

Well l never expected it to be the AE game so it comes as no suprise to me, but they better have what they promised they would publish, an exclusive preview of lara's new adventure. Legend is no longer new to us so a DVD game preview is fine by me. Unless Eidos has something else tucked up their sleeve they have not told us about yet

Drama! :p I have a feeling the article was going to be the DVD game and what if any tie ins it had to AoD. Maybe eidos saw the reactions around here and had second thoughts about coming out with it? Maybe the licensing deal didn't work out, someone wasn't going to get enough out of it? Well, in all fairness the advert never said that they were going to be covering the AE - they actually said that they'd be covering Lara's new adventure... and that could be TR8, TR:AE or the DVD thing that's coming.
Everyone here just assumed that it was going to be coverage of the AE ;)
The soonest thing in the TR lineup would be the DVD game. With this news I guess tlr can't tell us the inside info he had, seeing how the magazine article got killed... :(

Are you sure that the Gamesmaster scan was legit? They could have easily doctored an old "next month" preview from before Legend was fully revealed, afterall, it does have the Legend 'sunset' cover as the pic. Would explain this confusion. I never saw anyone else confirm the page to be real in that thread.

Fine. I understand that. AOD wasn't that great, most people know that.
But it gets petty when the same people bring AOD into every discussion for no point whatsoever...just to say the same point again and again....
At least the majority of legend-haters (i prefer the term 'critics') raise valid points about how to evolve the series, enhance gameplay, recapture that tomb raider magic and strategies to build on legends foundation....not just immature statements like "I hate it" [x 1000] which are generally largely unhelpful from a development perspective...
And back-on topic...I stand by my original statement that we won't hear anything about AE until the legend gamecube/DS hype has died. And personally i'd prefer it that way. At least doing that will prevent the story/levels being over-exposed and expectations getting too high... :D And hopefully we wont get trailers released showing 90% footage that ends up being cut from the game...

:cen: The 'they' you are referring to is me - and no, it was not doctored (I don't have the 'skills' to be able to do such a great job of it). And it's not MY fault that no one else bought the mag/confirmed the scans.
I've been around since April 2005 (longer of you include my lurking period) and have a few hundred posts to my name - really, surely that proves that I'm not a troll/hoaxer?!

It's really not like GM to lie - but they did put some small print at the bottom, something to the effect of 'this is planned, but extenuating circumstances may prevent it'.

Whatever. Stop beig such a drama queen, I was just stating one possibility. The image does look a bit cheap and dodgy, which is what leads me to believe what I said, but I guess that's down to the Gamesmaster team. ;):D
