View Full Version : THE most important meal of the day

Greenkey2
26-09-06, 22:50
It makes sense that I start a thread about breakfast at ten to midnight

My typical breakfast is usually either bran flakes with raisins, a yogurt drink and fruit juice, or toast and marmite with yogurt and fruit juice. If half an hour goes by and my eyes still won't open properly, I'll hit the coffee :cln:

What is your sure-fire way of starting your day?

Rivendell
26-09-06, 22:52
Toast and..... *drumroll* ..... Marmite. :p

I like it . I don't Love/Hate, just 'like' it ;) Got to have brekkie, or else I get headaches!

Cookin

Hmm i usally never eat breakfast... i usally wake up with around 5 minutes to get out the door... but when i do i just pop a piece of toast into the toaster and run out the door with it hanging out of my mouth xD

For breakfast I usually have a bowl of cereal, but I’d prefer to have French toast! :p

i thought you wrote "TRF the most important meal" :vlol:

I love english breakfast, but not for breakfast :D

if I can, I'll have Marmite, avocado or hummous on toast. Round here that's almost impossible though, Marmite is a thing of the deli in town, avocados are usually rock-hard and really expensive, and hummous is not heard of :( So I have toast and egg. And milk.

It depends on whether I feel like, or have time to eat breakfast... when I do it's usually just bacon and eggs... YUM

Normally, just a nice cup of coffee (preferably with a few drops of milk) is more than enough breakfast for me.

27-09-06, 08:19
Breakfast for me usually is:

Coffee ( with milk and 2 sugars ), couple of toasts with either cheese and something else or Marmelade, something from bakery like croissants or something, Orange Juice and this one tiny botle of yoghurt energy drink :)

Satu
27-09-06, 09:19
For me it's usually cereal with bird seeds, dried fruit and tea, tea and tea. If I have toast I like to have Vegemite.

@Rivendell: I have headaches too if I don't have breakfast.

Myreth
27-09-06, 09:21
I usually don't have breakfast at home (I prefer to sleep a little more), but during the holidays I have either cereal, pate, butter, tea, omelet or some fruit.(or sometimes all of them :D )
But I never have coffee; I find its taste horrid.

I got up at like 1 PM today, so it could be more lunch time...

Breakfast could be anything from pizza to an apple or leftover dinner. Today I had oatmeal and coffee.

I can't stomach food that early in the day, so I normally just have a cup of tea. I really like breakfast cereals though, so I eat them in the evening instead:p

Well, usually I have toast for breakfast, but for the past few days I've been having Co-Co Pops for breakfast... it may sound weird, but wouldn't you rather have a bowl of Co-Co Pops? Of course you would...

For those of you who like marmalade on toast for breakfast.....

I've had a trip out to a local farm shop today, and among other things I've purchased some special marmalade.

Here's the ingredients' list...oranges, grapefuits, apples, lemons and whiskey :cln: Phew, now that's one way of starting your day in style! :cln:

You didn't know that? It's nothing severe, but it has some ingrediants that contribute to formation of cancer. I watched it years ago on CNN. Can't seem to find it on Google though.

:yik: Does it?! How?!

There have been several health scares about baked or fried cereal-related foods and the carcinogen (cancer-causing) agent acrylamide, in relation to some types of bowel cancer.

However, (as with the majority of these scares) the risk is minimal, and the benefits of eating such foods as wholegrain cereal etc vastly outweigh them.

Stick with healthy foods; and be aware of what's going on behind the headlines ;)

You can find some info about it here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/g2/story/0,3604,774677,00.html

Anubis_AF
27-09-06, 15:29
The way I see it, you won't get cancer unless you eat those everyday for the rest of 20 years  So I don't see a big risk, but I'd rather not eat them.

Just for my own education what is Marmite?

Here's a picture of my first very own Marmite. It was a Christmas Present, back in 1992, in the desert of Morocco.

Marmite on Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/marmite_man)

but most think like this

(*better?*)
- it's a yeast extract, very intense, very salty, very concentrated. Nice to toast, egg, tea, cheese toasty, or peanutbutter. :)

If I have the time I do cereal, usually Barn Flakes or Start or something like that. I follow up with a banana, some yoghurt and a drink of mixed fruit juice - a cup of tea afterwards. If I have something on and have to be out the house fast-like then I do the cereal and grab the banana to take with me.
