"Our 2008 products will include new versions of Tomb Raider (including a PS3 version) and many of our other key franchises. We also plan new franchises, including completely new products from both Crystal Dynamics (developers of Tomb Raider) and Io Interactive (developers of Hitman and Kane & Lynch)."

Wow, thanks Justin! :) :wve:
"In the second half of the financial year we plan to launch an Anniversary edition of Tomb Raider, celebrating ten years of the legendary Lara Croft."
I guess she refers to 2007 there, right?
Nice to see they are not planning on leaving to much time for us to get bored between games there :D

Second half of the financial year is Jan-June 2007 But they said early 2007 and l expect to see it long before June
Right, thanks! :) Just wanted to make sure she didn't refer to 2008 :yik: :D

yesss! good news. They should continue making games 1-2 years gap like the other games do (Sonic,Prince of Persia,Silent Hill,Resident Evil):jmp:
yay, i just wish now we could get some screen shots=)
i guess the annivesary edition will be out early next year
and I hope TR8 is coming on the Xbox 360 too right?
A Sith Lord jumping...I must read what caused this disturbance into the Force :D!
Thank you,Justin :).
After reading it: it's good news TRL was such a good business, because more investment in Lara is guaranteed :jmp:!
I'm really curious to see the next franchise, once the DVD idea is very good.I wonder if we'll have a LEGO Tomb Raider, one of these days!
Thanks for posting, tlr online. Now imagine those tombs with the PS3 power. :jmp:

Considering all the formats for Legend, I can't see how it was considered a success, and AoD a failure.
AoD PS2, PC Sales = 2 million
Legend PS2, PC, Xbox, Xbox360, PsP = 2.9 million
It does make you wonder, especially when you factor in Legend's higher budget....
Thanks for posting, Justin :) .

The report only covers the 2006 financial year and does not include the 2007 figures. I am assuming that the financial year ends at july 1. The report states that TRL continues to sell well in financial year 2007. I think the AOD figure was total sales.
Meh, these days they can decide what they want to call a success or a failure... It's like politics, they can spin it however it best suits them... :pi:

Yep...
Like AOD... Upon release, it got luke-warm/bad reviews... But it sold well. So much so that it went patinum in multiple countries...
It was a 'success'... maybe not as big as it could have been, but it still earned EIDOS a large amount of money (if I remember rightly...)
....
But at a similar time-point, the 2nd TR movie BOMBED !!! It was DIRE... And for some bizaare reason, really smart people put the bad box-office sales down to the bad reviews of AOD... Failing to release that the movie was infact horrendous...even bordering on un-watchable...
Maybe those were the reason for the movie bombing....
But instead, movie critics and the uninformed all jump on the anti-AOD bandwagon and deem it a 'failure'...
Silly if you ask me... But just my opinion non-the less..
And thanks for the news TLR :wve: :yah:
Thanks for the news, tlr. :wve:

Did anybody else take that to mean they're bringing out TRL on the PS3?
Or have I just gone mad? :D

I think that refers to TR8 and not TRL
I think they are done releasing TR:L on whatever platforms they will. But of course the PS3 will be backward compatible so you will be able to play PS1 and PS2 games on it. If you mean TR:L part 2, that seems to be TR8, which is what they are saying will be released for PS3. So that should be the first TR game being made for and using the power of the PS3.
Thank God for that, I thought Eidos had gone even more platform-mad. They'll be bringing it out on the Megadrive next. ;)

Is that all Legend has sold worldwide? I thought the game had sold a lot more.

That only covers financial year 2006 which ended in June 2006
The Legend sales figures only go from the release of the game to 30th June which is not even 3 months. Pretty sure the AOD figures were over a longer period
Thank you for posting this Justin :wve:
I'm still a little.....confused, over what this 'anniversary edition' will cover/be like. Will it be TR1 but with better graphics? TR1 but in new shiny packaging? A one-off game with totally unrelated storyline/background to the other TR games?
Don't get wrong, I'm happy at the news :D But I'm still a little hazy on the details.....
We may have to borrow a hummer and infiltratate eidos... (http://brentter.com/?p=35)

Isn't a hummer a little conspicuous for an infiltration?
Hey, everyone deserves a hummer... http://www.storagebin.us/smilies/smilies/naughty.gif

Now you will really look conspicuous!!!!!!!

I wish they'd be a little more specific on the platforms AE and TR8 are going to appear on! Thanks for posting, Justin! It's about time we got some solid news. :tmb:
Yes! Finally some concrete news! Thanks for posting :D:D

Great news, thanks a lot, tlr online. I really hope that AE and TR8 will be released on X-BOx 360...
We will continue to exploit established brands
I can't believe they admitted this....
Sounds like a remake of TR1 is upcoming. That would explain squelching CORE's remake.
We will continue to exploit established brands
That just means they will continue making new games for established brands ie: tomb raider and Championship Manager, it does not mean they will do remakes of old games
Although possibly your conclusions as to why the Core game was cancelled are correct

You'd think they'd phrase it differently, though, like "we will continue to develop established brands" instead of "exploit" :p
My point, was that they choose the word, "exploit". Right on target with that one.
My second comment related to the announcement for 2008 games, but I think that was "wishful thinking" on my part. New games, means new games for consoles.
