The Irwin video: Would you watch it?

Crocodile hunter Steve Irwin's final moments were captured on camera. But should that film ever be broadcast to the watching public?

Steve Irwin made a career partly based on taking risks with wildlife. His death this week at the barb of a stingray on Australia's Barrier Reef was filmed, and in a Sydney Morning Herald poll 40% of the 24,000 or so respondents thought it should be shown.
Here, two medical ethicists try to answer the question of whether anyone should be able to watch it.

I think it would be more sad than shocking to see really, but I think he would have wanted it to be shown, don't you think?

Wll...he did mention that his death would be through fault of his own...and that he would want people to not make this mistake...but I still wouldn't watch it, i'd cry again!:(

I saw her live at Austrlia Zoo a couple of years ago.
I wanted to see Steve, but he wasn't there that day.

It just saddens me to think that there will be no more of his exciting documenteries on anymore.
Well, no new ones.

I wouldn't watch it. Actually, I'd never want to see a person die, at least not in a violent way.

wow. That's as kosher as a ham and cheese sandwhich. Yet, I'm unsure if I should laugh or not. To the original question: No. Let the dead rest.

I think that's pretty funny.
But not because of his death.
I just think that guy in it was really funny.
I think it's quite cruel that someone made a video like that though.

What the ****? It's not something you're supposed to make funny videos of.

Come on, this is the internet, of course people are gonna make videos.

The point of me actually posting the video link was to see if anyone would actually click on it, believing it to be the real thing. ;)

I would watch it... I just want to see what he was doing... if he was being alittle to aggresive with the stingray or if it just came up and got him. I heard he was pulling at it... not sure if its true though

In respect to his wife, who I heard on my local radio station said she wouldn't let it get out to the public (against Steve's wishes), I wouldn't watch it. As much as I enjoyed his show, I have respect for his family. Maybe later on, my curiousity will get to me.

This guy spent (almost) all his life living adventures and showing them. Even If the ending is bad, I think he would have wanted to make that vid public. So I say Yes, I would watch it

I do have respect for him, but I am very curious. Poor guy, to have your own death on camera... It's up to his family, if they want the vid out, then so be it. I do have high doubts though.

Yes. But he can't make the choice because he's dead. Obviously he would want it out, but his wife thinks differently. The video is hers now, and she can choose to release it or not.

Yes. But he can't make the choice because he's dead

Steve always said that if he fell victim to an animal he wanted the footage broadcast.
