We have a minority of Romanian gypsies here. They are contantly causing havoc, they are parking their caravans on the fields and stealing clothes off washing lines of the locals.

Imagine what it will be like if we get more.

As Romania is joining the EU (with bulgaria) we are going to get swarms of them coming here. I hope they don't cause to much bother.

MiCkiZ88
07-10-06, 20:45
you know that this thread does sound rather insulting.. slightly racistic if i might ad.. :/ there might be few romanians here ( including my family ).. and you seem to be mistaking the two together. gipsy and romany

jarhead
07-10-06, 20:46
Yes, I agree

the EU is ment to help less fortunate countries, well thats waht i thought, and well talking about romanians and gypsies like that wont get you very far

AnthonyShock1515
07-10-06, 20:47
oh, im on about gypsies.

i thought gypsies were romanian?

Pipolinne
07-10-06, 20:47
Anthony, one of the goals is to allow Romania to have better life quality, therefore people will want to stay in their country,or do you think it's pleasent to go to a foreign country, because you don't have enough money to eat?!

Not only you present a cruel view on gipsies,an you generalize an whole country to an ethnic population!

That is just stupid. I'm sorry, but is England made of crystal and the other countries aren't? Romanian citizens are people too, and you describing them as swarms because they used to be third party country is just plain stupid.
And yes, I hope they don't 'bother' you

AnthonyShock1515
07-10-06, 20:54
Im not insulting anyone, Im saying I hope they don't cause any bother.

And I don't see what is so innapropriate? Its a commonly discussed topic.

Paperdoll
07-10-06, 20:55
Well here people said the same thing about english people when we hosted Euro 2004... it's generalizing and would you like it if someone did the same thing to you?

Camera Obscura
07-10-06, 20:57
Wow Anthony I'm really shocked, I didn't expect such an ignorant comment from you.

All people are different but that doesn't mean you should generalize them based on a few that have caused problems.

I learned that if you have problems with certain groups of people then you should make friends with them not shun or detest them.

AnthonyShock1515
07-10-06, 20:57
I wouldn't have a problem, I know all countries have their conflicts and problems but its something we have to deal with. But are we not allowed to voice our concerns.

Angel_14
07-10-06, 21:00
I'm not from Romania, but my best friend is from Romania, so she would find this a little 'bothering' for her, as I find this that...

And what's that about 'bothering' you with going into England? They are humans too, they have the right to travel wherever they want! And what about Hungary? Or the other EU countries? I don't think, they cause less 'bothering' than Romania.

And yes, Romanian people can be really nice. My friend is the perfect example. I'm tired of these clichés, what they make about countries:rolleyes:

I just thought it was rude to compare them to winged insects saying "there'll be swarms of them" and the way you set up the topic

Pipolinne
07-10-06, 21:05
You're not voicing concerns, you're voicing prejudices.A few time ago,in Portugal,we had this manifestation where people were speaking like you:it was a fascist one.

You don't even know a single fact about Romania, probably!

One thing is to think about emmigration, other thing is to imagine people from a determined country as savage animals who will invade your country!

I do not see you that worried with human traffic, for instance, nor with the emmigrants that enter yours and our countries to become sexual slaves at the service of those noble national citizens!

In my opinion, it would be the same as if the next person would say "I'd hate black people to enter my country" - which is obviously racism.
I agree with every word you've just said, Filipa.

Skin color, religion, gender preferences. Racism is just an excuse to hurt someone who is different from you. It's sad to see racism still exist today.

I guess Ive been scarred for life. I must be some kind of racist for being concerned over the immigration issues. Well 67% of Britain are too.

scion05
07-10-06, 21:27
No it isnt racist... i agree, there are too many imigrants around britain, but yet we all move over to other countries also, think " location location location " etc
But i think people should only be aloud in to work for something proper, not take-aways or corner shops :o

I know that we are unwanted in other countries. I know we are pests in New Zealand and places but immigration is a major issue and I get branded a racist for saying I am pestered by it? I just needed one person to tell me it was wrong to write about this but you are acting like a big family.

I think immigration is a great thing. I feel very happy walking down the street and seeing people from every corner of the globe. :)

Apofiss
07-10-06, 21:36
Anthony, you have a point about immigration of course, according to UK and other countries.. and we all know it that it also has its negative sides and etc.

I doubt that. I've only been a member for a month but I was a floater for a while. It's been my impression that to be hated, you have to do alot more than this. But stereotyping a group isn't appropriate.
