View Full Version : AOD graphics
l have been told there is a way to remove the sweaty/plastic feature of some of the skin tones in AOD. It does seem to be mainly the Kurtis character that is affected by this problem, l just always assumed it was just another fault that Core never had time to fix. Is there a way to remove the shine on Kurtis, and how would l go about doing it? l have an NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT 250Mb graphics card
This is the first time i read a complaint about that Aussie. Maybe you could post a picture to show what you exactly mean?
If you have at "Multisampling": None, everything including faces is harder. But i'm not sure what you mean, so await your picture. :)
This is the one that the suggestion was about, it is more noticeable in one of the FMV's. l have to admit l have never heard of any options to change this sort of thing either, but if there is one it would be best to find out before l go much further

Yuck what a pimp! :D
This looks from an FMV. In game he never crosses his arms? Tell me where exactly so i can compare with what i see on that same place.
I think we have to look at your settings. Can you post a printscreen of what you have (you make 3 pics: top, scrolled down twice).
OMG I WANT THAT IN MY GAME :vlol:
im serious...
Joseph if u find the problem plz post it cuz i really want to cause it to my game :D
aussie may not like it but i do :p
Makes absolutely no difference to me if he looks a bit shiny, but the girls in the Kurtis appreciation thread would rather he was not. The above pic is actually not from an FMV, but you will not be able to get it ingame either, if it helps the location was the begining of the Sanitarium level. Here are three FMV screenshots one from the infamous galleries under siege FMV and 2 from the end of the first cutscene in the Sanitarium level, all showing Mr Made of Plastic at his best

And hopefully these are the settings you need to see Joseph

l changed the screen refresh rate to 60Hz, never realised it was on 75 before, this problem only really affects Kurtis, so not sure how it could be improved :( Playing around with the ingame video settings made absolutely no difference
Yes. Sorry i didn't notice you already posted Aussie. :o
Studying... :pi:
You have less options in Settings than i. Is your game patched with 42, 49 and 52?
You have an ugly Kurtis. I don't get that plastic appearance on my version.
Since at the moment l am playing around with the animations l need to use the pizza cheater and the unpatched version, but l have played with all the versions and he always seemed to look the same. He is not shiny all the time, just in certain scenes. l have never noticed any problems with any of the other characters
I just checked and indeed he's a blinking sweaty guy on my version too. Which is good so i can try to find out how to remove that.
OK, disabling pixel shader 2.0 goes in the right direction. He's far less sweaty.
Well, Aussie, have you tried it? Disable PixelShader 2.0. :)
Not yet, been encoding screen captures all night, plus l have a few other programs running so could not play AOD, will give it a go tomorrow night
OMG I WANT THAT IN MY GAME :vlol:

Well probably it is already in your game, since so many do not seem to have noticed it, it only happens in a few places, unfortunately most of those places are the ones l want to use for screenshots :(
Disabling PixelShader 2.0 does seem to have helped, although it was hard to get a shot, FRAPS seems to have taken to the habit of vanishing on me in the last few days, plus this PC really does not like playing games at the moment, it will be returned to the shop next week, where hopefully they will manage to fix whatever it was that they stuffed up when they "upgraded" it
