ok, i installed TR:L on my new computer (it worked on my old one) and it works fine, yeah, but after a while playing on it, it lags up for a second and then the "static stuttering" starts and eventually gets really bad. I tried changing the "priority" of trl.exe from normal to below normal, low, above normal and real time (which crashed my computer :D ) which i heard mite do somot but it didnt. My new computer is more than good for the game (its better than my old one that culd run it too) so im sure its not that. Ive got to the stage of :hea: trying to find out how to fix it, plz plz plz help me!

OK. You have only onboard sound. Best is to disable harware acceleration.
Start > Run... type in
dxdiag
click OK.
On the "Sound" tab, move the slider to the right for 'no hardware acceleration'.

Radeon 9200 is a basic card, not very fit for 3D and gaming.

ok, so how do i "make this off"? (same for on) do i just need to change it in the notebad diag thing that was the result of the program u made me run earlier on?

also, from the information i posted, is it posible for u to give me a name for a good graphics card that wont lag my computer and wont conflict with anything else? i only bought the radeon 9200 to play BFME2, and i can play that quite well, but i wuld always like to play a game at its very best. I would like to get a new graphics card, i just dont want to buy one that is too good for my processor or motherboard etc.

You change the settings from the game's Main menu > Options.

To improve performance, you should replace the Sempron CPU as well, to a Athlon 64 2800+ but i doubt you will be able to find it anywhere, they are outdated, and your motherboard does not support more modern CPU's.

You cvould replace your card with the Sapphire Radeon X1650PRO 256MB GDDR3, AGP8X (http://www.komplett.nl/k/ki.asp?sku=325504&view=detailed) € 137,00 a very fine modern midrange card, shader model 3.0 support and GDDR3. At least double the performance you are used to plus a far better image quality.
You need to replace your PSU (power supply unit) as well with a good 350 Watt at least.

Thanks Joseph, much appreciated. Compared with the best and the worst computers in the market, where wuld u think mine wuld be?

Joseph

Simply outdated.
Your motherboard: MS-7181-050

supports:
• Supports 64-bit AMDR® Athlon™ 64, Sempron™ and Turion™ 64 processor (Socket 754)
• Athlon 64 2800+ ~ 3700+, Sempron 3400+
• Supports new E6 version CPU.

Your motherboard is good quality. But as an AGP, it is outdated. For performance in games, it is PCI-Express what you should have, also you would have a broader choice for modern cards that perform well in DirectX9.0c games.

I also think that the Radeon 9200 is actually an on-board chip, which doesn't exactly help things. I therefore second Joseph's suggestion of upgrading the videocard. :)

Joseph

No, Radeon 9200 is really a graphic card. But low budget entry level. Fine for 2D, bad for 3D, games.

Ah, OK - I thought there was a Radeon 9200-based onboard chip too. But we seem to agree otherwise, so the point's moot. :)
