View Full Version : Mozilla Firefox 2
Just downloaded it. Just installed it. Just launched it. Just gave me one more reason to love Firefox :tmb:
Anyone know some pretty nice themes? I looked on the site but didn't find any ones I liked.
There's plenty of beautiful themes out there, but I don't know if most of them are compatible with Firefox 2 as yet. Try the Glowy series - GlowyWine, GlowyBlue, GlowyGreen and GlowyGold. They're absolutely gorgeous, though kinda dark. And I'm pretty sure they are compatible.
I downloaded it last week, much better than the prevous version.
I love the spell checker.
can u podst a link plz. is it frre?

The spell checker rocks, except when it tries to correct "Flavour" "Rumour" "Colour" etc. I'm British!

Well they have to cater for the majority, most people in the world spell things as color etc.
FireFox 2 is has very shiney buttons, so that is awesome.

I noticed another new thing about it yesterday.
My PC sort of crashed and before that I had some websites open all in the same Firefox window but in different tabs. After I logged onto Windows again and opened Firefox it came up with this :tmb: :

Cool huh? :jmp:
Cool! I always hated it when Firefox accidently crashes. Now I can restore my tabs :jmp:
Anyone know how to use the Spell Checker?
You've gotta love the tabs though, you can open so many websites lol.
nooooo all my bookmarks were deleted!!!

My bookmarks are all safe. I wonder why have yours been deleted. Perhaps you uninstalled Firefox first?

That's odd.
Mine were still there when I downloaded them.
Same here Tony, maybe you did remove Firefox first and then install the new one. If you didn't, it is a spooky thing to happen, it's Halloween after all, something is happening.

It doesn't work in the quick reply box for some reason, but it works if you edit a post or "go advanced" :)

It's celebrating the fact that guy Fawkes didn't blow up the Houses of Parliament.
It's a shame he didn't succeed, but oh well.
I don't celebrate it anyway.
I hope you get your favorites back somehow 2Kool4u. How about a system restore to a past day, then you could try again.

thanks im happy i got it 2 work
Just downloaded it, so far I have only notices that there are different icons for some things.
And as for Mad Tony, export your bookmarks on a regular basis because Firefox has a rare (sort of) error which makes Firefox close and lose all bookmarks :)

It wasn't me who had the problem, it was 2kool4u.

Oh, I must be more tired than I thought. -goes for nap-
Does anyone know how I can keep the spell checker on constantly?

That was previously available as an extension for Firefox 1.5 - the Session Manager which came with the extension Tab Mix Plus extension. I guess now it has been integrated into Firefox 2. That extension is excellent, btw - if anyone (like me) prefers the older version of Firefox, I strongly recommend downloading Tab Mix Plus. :tmb:

All your bookmarks are automattically saved everyday, and you can inport them whenever anything goes wrong.
Can be found under:
C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ [profile].default
Under a folder called Backups or bookmarkbackups

Jamie, I lost my bookmarks too about a year ago. I researched high and low for answers how to get my bookmarks back but this solution does not work 100% of the time because the crash forces a new profile to be made the next time Firefox starts up which deletes/overwrites the default profile and makes a new one.
The only way I was able to get mine back was go in to the Norton Recycle bin a sift through all the hundreds of data the computer had deleted. After about an hour I gave up hope, but then something drew me towards a file and I restored it and BAM everything was back. I cannot remember what the filename was but it was a string of random numbers and letters.
Just pointing out that this is not a failsafe option and you should backup ever so often, or I think I remember that there was an extension which backs up your bookmarks; I did not use this because it was for an older version of Firefox, I did not fancy going back to an older version.
That reminds me, I have not backed up in about 2 weeks...
