This thread is for your views on how you think the original TR1 Croft manor will be interpreted :).
Will we simply have a slightly modified Legend mansion? Or would you like to see the half-unpacked crates and farting Winston return?
The Legend manor being fairly well-received, would you like to see something that is a blend of the old with the new?

Improved upon original. I loved the packing crates and farting Winston but I would also like outside areas.
I want the Legend manor, but downgraded to look like it's from the past. And of course, upgraded to have more areas (i.e. more rooms, outdoors, etc) :P
I would like to see a mix of both. A Bigger outside area but mix together TR1 mansion and Legend Mansion, still have the courtyard but dont have the GYM building there turn that into a garden and get rid of the tech room and put something there in its placemaybe the front entrance doors

i would love to see the house upgraded with winston (but maybe not to follow you around that use to freek me out when i was little)
If it is a remake, I'd want the original, limited mansion from TR1. With added outdoors so that the look through the window is nicer, but nothing apart from the real version.
If the game is only inspired by TR1 (as it seems to be), I'd be happy with anything. The larger, the better, but always based on the classic mansion.

I'd prefer to see the old mansion (this is a remake, after all), but I would also like to see the outdoor area. Still, I have a feeling, that CDs'll make something unusual, special, yet it'll fit in the game in a peculiar way.

this is easy points for the classic fanbase. i dont think cd can go wrong if they stick to the tr3 house and build on it, yet not removing anything. the closer they can get to that feeling, the better.
I really hope they use the Classic TR1-TR3 Mansion, even the TR1 would be great with an outside and assult course.

I'd say it's either the classic manor, without any additions, or something completely new extended upon what we saw in TR3. There is no point in remaking either the mansions of TR2 or TR3, because everybody knows them already.
I want to see the classic mansion. Not only because it was in the game TRA is based upon, but also because it had a much more homely feel than the bland Legend one and was one of the most memoriable levels in the series to date.
Also we know CD is going to be keeping the Legend one for future sequels, so it can be expanded upon anytime. TRA is the only time the classic mansion can make a comeback. Lara's bio for Legend states she now owns 3 manors left to her by her father. It wouldn't be hard to bring the old mansion into the new direction the series is taking.

Winston was not in Tomb Raider 1, although if they are going to go with the updated bio he would have to be in the remake, since he is the family butler now and not just a cast of Lara inherited from someone. With his new dignified demenour though l do not think even if we got the kitchen they would let us lock Winston in the freezer :(

I loved Legend manor. The previous was too big and empty. And I would like the possibility to get out of the manor.
I think that the Legend Croft Manor will be used as it keeps & builds on what Legend has already established. I obviously loved the mansion from the classic games, however the mansion in Legend is grand & beautiful so I equally wouldn't mind it being in TRA, which is likely. I just would love to see the outside grounds to Croft Manor, an assault course, hedge maze/gardens & front gates!:jmp:

It's been said in interviews with devs that they had intended to make the whole place, outside and all, but due to Bloody.Time.Restrictions were made to get rid of it. Thanks for stunting out enjoyment once again Eido$, with your stupid deadlines. *Shakes head* Why oh Why can't they just release things when they're ready? :whi:

I reckon, if you're early in the game, there's hardly anything but crates in there, but as you progress, more things start getting un-crated and stuff.

Or how about that last crate being a coffin? :whi: Then even Lara's home would be a tomb. And unless some psychopathic villain isn't around to raise the dead, we'll have no fear of being chatted to as we make our way through the dark tunnels into the Lost Valley ;)
l would not want to kill them of altogether, they did have a few redeeming qualities, l just do not want to hear a single Wahooo! or Oh my! out of either of them for the duration of the game. If we need to ask question about anything in Tomb Raider 9 Lara can go back to the manor and thaw them out occasionally before locking them in the freezer again. She should be out of range for that damn headset for most of Tomb Raider 8 hopefully
Hehe yeah, unless Zip makes some sort of metaphysical, interdimensional patch for the headset so it works in Avalon. :(
Anyway, I hope they just don't appear in TR:A - then there's no risk of "AAAAAAAHHHHHHHGHGHHHHHHHH" "Ohh My!" when Lara spots a Rex ;)

I'd love to see the old mansion remade, only I want the outside too. I missed it in Legend. I think there should be more to do inside as well as outside. I'm not going to sit here and compare Legend's mansion to what I want to see in AE or TR8, but I think they could've done a more thorough job, with more rooms, etc..
I'd love an updated old mansion, with tons more to do inside and outside. :tmb: And the corner bug back so I can get on the roof and back deck by lara's bedroom! :yah:
I'd like an enhanced Legend look alike Manor. Yet, it should have a reason to play in it. Like gardens, Assault course, Quad Bike track, a small lake and a speed boat, etc... Most importantly, a gym where Lara is your own instructor (Press the jump button followed by a direction button, and I'll jump that way).
I did enjoy the Legend mansion, but it did not feel like "home". I guess I'm a romantic for the mansion of old.
There is just something about entering that front door and seeing the huge main room, with dual staircases. What I did not like was that they removed the stereo system. It was always the first thing I did - fire up the tunes!
Suppose I'd be happy with the TRL Croft Manor providing you can access the gardens at the front as in TR3.
Oh, and the obstacle course please - I don't want an ingame training level. The one in Last Revelation did my tits in.

I adored the Legend movie-style manor, however, I think I'd prefer the old mansion for the anniversary edition purely for the reason that I think Legend manor should get upgraded for TR8 rather than AE.
I would be pleased to see an outside and just want somewhere with lots of stuff to explore really. I spend lots of time in the mansions lol. :D

you know what could be nice?.. if she would just move out from the legend manor to a new house ,,... and this new house should be the tr 1 2 3 & 5 mansion,.. something like if legend would have happened before any of the other TR,.. and then after something hapened in the legend trilogy she desided to move away to a new house before her deadly enemies could destroy her parents house,.. and that would be a nice reason to see the crates and boxes all around in AE,.. and so,...

I love that idea, as long as it doesn't involve puzzles you can only do at certain points (i.e. a crate has to be in Spot X to reach Spot Y, and after you beat the game, you can never get to Spot Y because the crate is gone).
And also, as long as we have a way to reset the manor which Legend didn't have (and while I never encountered the bookshelf bug in Legend, I imagine that has to be extremely annoying to those who did). Maybe even an option (once you beat the game perhaps) to play it at different stages or something (and if you could do that, then nevermind about my first point).

I don't think that's really the right way to think about it. I think it's more likely Crystal already wanted to change the manor beforehand, and used the movies as a different style that they liked and would still be familiar to fans. It wasn't so much an "OMG WE NEED TO MATCH THE MOVIES!!!" sort of move, at least in my opinion.
I personally think at least the manors in the movies/Legend *look* like a manor more than the old ones did.

Well like I said, they may have just liked the way the movie one looked. Plus there is some familiarity there for TR fans (as opposed to something completely new they've never seen before) that ties it together well.

I agree - although Legend manor was nice, it should be expanded upon in TR8, not TRA. For TRA, it should look more like a mix of TR 1-3, but with more outside areas, and more secret indoor areas / hidden passages etc... This means we can have something different to look forward to when TR8 comes out.
Plus they should invent something new and funny for us to do with Winston (not just lock him in the freezer, but other options e.g. bribe him up onto the roof and then leave him there / surprise jump at him from behind a corner and make his hair stand on end etc...)

I'm suprised Lara hasn't already given him one, in TR3 I've knocked him to the floor several dozen times, not to mention frost bite from the fridge.
Def TR2/TR3 manor. TR1 manor was really well borin lol. I hope they dont remake that one. It had nothng to do in it.
I still say: Either remake TR1 truely (without any additions), or create a new one (based on what TR2 and TR3 had).
Remaking TR1's manor truely is the most obvious choice in a TR1 remake (if it is one. Eidos has a way of not telling at all what the game is about).
Making a new manor in the progression from TR1 to TR2 to TR3 is the other logical choice, adding new adventures and options for those who loved the interactivity of the later manors. That's actually what I'd like.
Remaking TR2 or TR3 manor in a game that is something like a remake for TR1 makes no sense at all. In a TR2 or TR3 remake, no problem, but in a TR1 remake, they have no place to be.
I think we've all said enough to keep the original mansion huh:D?

If CD sticks to the new bio (of course), and tie-in the Legend storyline with Tomb Raider, then perhaps it can be speculated that one of the other two Croft households maintained by the National Trust (according to the new bio) would be the original Croft Mansion. That is, if they choose to feature the original in LCTR: Anniversary. :)
I thought Legend's manor was a very pretty place (and had the best puzzle in the game!) and is one place I wouldn't mind seeing again (if expanded quite considerably - I want to play in the grounds, in the attic, in the kitchen... everywhere, really!) but for the AE it should really be good ole traditional Croft Manor ;).
With lots of added stuff to do! :D

This is one part they can skimp on, and nobody can complain, because thats the way it was, and that can't be argued with!
Of course they are going to take the option with the least amount of work. Schedules must be tight for this project.
Those wanting big gardens, and race tracks, kitchens, bed rooms, obstacle courses, keep dreaming! I think we will get a gym and a pool, and thats it!
Surely 'the least amount of work' would be to just copy/paste the legend mansion into the game Minus Z&A ?

Well you know anything is possible! It is an anniversary adventure, and a 'brand new adventure' for Lara :confused: (well i thought the adventure was for us!) according to them. That means they can do anything they like :(
Or do what fans want...I'm sure they realized a lot more now after Legend..

Old one upgraded WITH monkey bars and ziplines which I miss so much. And the climbing walls.
As the original TR1 mansion was very short and extremely limited, I would prefer to see an extended version of it. In fact a combination of a TR3-style mansion with additions inspired by the Legend manor, would be ideal.

Isn't the movie house the legend house? It would be neat if they stuck to the origional tr1 house (although I have never played tr1 - but as it is a re-make it would make sence)

But, as you know, all the gameplay will be different, so it needs different locations...:D ;)

I'd love to see the beautiful Architecturally pleasing Legend Croft Manor return with more areas opened and an outdoor area. In my opinion(not that I didnt enjoy it) I think the TR3 house was very tacky, as in Donald Trump's house tacky.....ewww. The Legend house was so beautiful and Rich as a house owned by Lara Croft should be.
Well, I do agree about how Legend's manor should have more exploration - it was fun but for the sake of the anniversary, we should keep the old:) I mean who knows, 10 years from now they'll have Legend Anniversary and people would want the old respective manor right:D?

I think we need the design of Legends manor except less loading in between doors. and also full acess to the mansion like the TR II and Threes. Also more things kinda like a blend between fun and toys and exploration like legends riddles. So cars, motorcycles, Quad bikes to play with, guns to shoot, Riddles to solve, people to talk to, Gym to do acrobats, and jumping around, secret areas, Trophy room, links to the original, outside area to run around, pool, Refregerator to lock winston in, music room, basement, Attic, Aquarium, Exotic petting zoo(pet a tiger). Just anything they can think of to make her enviroment as realistic as possible the better.
To go along with the original I think at first you are only able to go in certain areas in the mansion, and its full of crates and stuff because in the original she just moved in. And as you advance through the game and find extra secrets or whatever, more of the house in unlocked and there are less crates, so it kind like real time in that her mansion is being created before your eyes for example you beat all the levels up to St. Francis folly you go back to the mansion, and look there is more gym equipment and stuff to jump and swing on a rock climbing wall, and there is a Shooting range! And then once you beat Collesum you find that there is a lion in the peting zoo so forth, so it would be cool just to see the mansion becoming lara's home before your eyes. Kinda like Maddens super star as you progress you get bigger better things in your house!

Yes well, the Mansion first featured in TR1 and started the whole craze for the Mansion so im sure they will pay tribute to it.
i loved so much the manor from the firts game... probably it was the only one i really loved,.. the third was nice,.. but i use the freak thinking on barbie the richest girl on the world, or on richie rich,...,.. i just dont like that attitude, and in the movies the only thing they could do was to make it even bigger,.. i dont think she should move an entire troop to land in cambodia, or to bother a nuclear u-boat, for rescue her, or even better, to destroy a fanci jet just for landing undetected in china..... so,.. if the manor is going to return,.. please be discreet,.. you dont need a couple of helicopters on the roof, or and an u boat on the pool just for playing, not to mention the (if i tell you i will have to kill you,...) well not really i love that sentence,.. was the only thing really lara croft there,...

From the original theme and other places....OR EVEN A TV WIDESCREEN HOME THEATER SYSTEM where you can view cutscenes/FMVs through there!!:D
