there's been so many differant topics lately, all of they are either, "do you want..." or "this or that" type topics
but what i want to know is
What do you want to see in TR:AE? what do you expect to see in TR:AE? and what do you NOT want to in TR:AE?

What I what:
- Natla, Larson, Pierre, and the rest of her baddie crew
- Classic (TR1-TR3) Mansion
- Long (non-shortened) levels, hard puzzles, just like the original
- Classic gameplay that isn't Legendinated
- Unlimited Inventory
- Flares
- Magnums, Automatic Pistols, Shotgun, and of course the classic Pistols
- Lots and lots of animal enemies

What I don't want:
- No Allister or Zip
- No Mercenaries
- No Auto-grab
- No On-screen Inventory
- No RAD mode or binoculars all together
- No Grapple
- No PLS

Don't we have 3 threads like this already? :D

TR:AE is not my idea of a dream game so I can't really be certain. However, if I had my wish:

What I want to see:
* Multiplayer support
* Enhanced graphics > Legend
* Fixed swimming controls, higher oxygen bar
* Addition of new abilities, as well as revival of old ones (sprinting, crawling)
* Modding tools
* A new mansion, or the old TR1-3 mansion
* Higher difficulty
* Lots more weapons, with realistic and outstanding detail
* Animals
* A new camera system, which allows the pivoting of the camera, stationary or dynamic chase cams, etc.

What I expect to see:
* Neither of the above (pessimist by nature)
* Rehash of TR1 levels, perhaps with some components taken out
* Autograb
* Extras system, inc. outfits

What I don't want to see:
* Autograb
* A half-finished game
* The Legend mansion
* Bugs
* Crashes
* Graphics issues
* Zip and Alister
* The continuation of the old Legend story
* The grapple as an inventory item
* The PLS as an inventory item
* Ambivalent regarding PDA, I could care less

Things I want:

-An option for the camera/controls to be like the classic games. Failing that, I want the camera/controls to be tweaked so that they are like Soul Reaver 2 instead of Legend (i.e. basically the same as Legend, but much more precise and without that strange feeling that Lara is hovering over everything). I want the swimming controls to be like they were in the classics. I want the combat controls to be the same as normal movement, except with Lara aiming at enemies while she moves.

-Old jump distance and lung-capacity

-Detailed, explorable environments where I can reach, climb over, grab, and interact with every (or nearly every) surface. Also, hidden goodies like medipacks and ammo to give me an incentive to explore.

-Infinite backpack and the old inventory rings.

-I am assuming that this isn't a remake, but rather a retelling of the TR1 story. Based on that assumption, I want the game to be well thought out, creative, and artfully done. I wish I could be more specific, but I don't know what direction they took so I don't know if what they did will be good until I see it.

-I don't mind linearity, but I want the game to at least give me the illusion that it's not a straight path (the original game did this well).

-A decent length for the game (around 20 hours for the first playthrough, and around 10-15 hours if I already know where everything is)

-A save anywhere and load right where you saved system. If I have to continuously replay the same damned sections over and over and over again due to poorly placed checkpoints, I'll be very angry.

-All of Lara's old moves (crawling, monkey swinging, reverse-rolling both on land and in water, and the special superfluous moves like flipping backwards to grab a ledge, or flipping forwards off a ledge from a crawling position). Sprinting would be good if they slow down Lara's normal running pace, which I would actually prefer.

-I don't mind grapples, swingy bars, and the like. I do, however, want *all* of Lara's moves to be utilized sparingly and creatively. Using a move a few times in well-placed environments is much better than using it every 5 minutes so that it becomes boring.

-Well-placed music cues. I do not mind continuous music, but it should always change to reflect the situation (calm and creepy during exploration, tense when entering a new area, fast-paced during combat, etc.).

-Many, many animal enemies, along with the mutants in Atlantis. The animal enemies were far more interesting to me than human enemies.

-Clever, intricate puzzles woven into the level design (something that is logical and requires me to think and explore to figure it out).

-Lara's mansion, preferably as it was in TR3 (it would be really cool if her trophy room was empty when you start the game, but once you win it, if you go back to the mansion it has the T-rex head, the Scion fragments, and maybe a few other artifacts)

What I do NOT want to see:

-Abuse of the headset (if it's there, which it doesn't appear to be in the screenshot, then I don't mind the occassional comment. I do not want constant chatter).

-All of Lara's moves being automatic. I want to have complete control over her instead of pressing buttons and hoping she goes where I intended. If the automated controls (including autograb) are an option, that's fine. In any case, I want to be able to play without them.

-Being stuck in circles during combat. The circle combat system is perfect for melee combat. However, for ranged combat, it is very frustrating. I very much prefer when Lara can aim at enemies without having to face them directly. I also would like the ability to choose which target Lara is aiming at (I couldn't figure out how to do it, if there even is a way to do it, in the Legend demo).

-Tons of human enemies. I would only want to see a handful of human enemies (namely, the 5 that were in the original game and maybe one or two more if CD includes a few new characters, but definitely not any generic human mercenaries).

-Puzzles that slap me across the face and say, "Hey! I'm a puzzle!" I want the level design to be subtle and the puzzles to be cleverly worked into the environment and not confined to a single small room without much in it so that the solution is obvious.

That's all I can think of at the moment :)

If TR:A is a complete remake of TR1 and not a Legendified version of the game, then I can only really think of two things I want:

1. Updated CG movies. The CG movies in TR1 are rather primitive compared to modern-day Cg movies, so Iīd like to see the movies remade with up-to-date CGI. But seeing that Legend was made with a "graphics have come so far we donīt need pre-rendered movies" attitude, I guess the CG movies will be replaced with in-game movies. Personally I think graphics havenīt yet come far enough to match the sheer spectacle a CG movie can provide.

2. The old logo back. The metallic logo just doesnīt say "adventure" to me, Iīd like to see either the flames-and-stone or all-stone logo back for this game, but I doubt itīll happen.

What I donīt want to see:

1. TR:A being set in the Legendverse.

2. The uzifiring skateboarding kid. I just thought he was silly and didnīt belong in the game, so Iīd really like to see him gone or replaced by another thug. But if theyīre remaking the game completely, then itīs most likely not going to happen.

Why do people hate autograb so much? I think it's awesome. :)

-auto grab
-interactive cutscenes

-bugs

thats all:)

I'd love to see:
- Legend quality or better graphics (hopefully a given lol)
- The Legend controls BUT The old go, up, down etc... swimming controls
- Autograb (I really don't have a problem with it)
- Longer levels than Legend and, if they are, then a save anywhere system
- Grapple - the swinging is realy fun
- Outfits (only a few would do though lol)
- Keeping with the way you can see all Lara's equipment on her back
- More mansion fun!
- And a co-operative level would be fantastic! :D

EDIT
- Oooh and having just watched the FMV where Lara bike rides to the coast that could be cool if it became playable. I loved the bike parts of Legend. :)

What I don't really want to see:
- Save game crystals - they were so few and far between!
- Too much combat - the puzzles could be far more interesting than enemies

Why do people hate autograb so much? I think it's awesome. :)

I think it's because the auto-grab only really lets you grab onto ledges that are defined as grab-able, limiting the player to go only where the game intends. In the old games, most of the block-created scenery is climbable in some way by default, which let's you go to places that aren't nessercarily crucial to visit.

Anyway, back to the topic in hand.

What I want i.e. my perfect Tomb Raider remake

- Locations faithfully restored, with the more iconic features kept in place.
- Extra bits, including parts that are shown in the FMVs in the original, such as the motorcycle-boat chase, or Lara's journey to the opening of Qualopec's tomb
- Larson, Pierre, Natla and co. with updated graphics, looking as good as ever. I don't want Larson to look how he did in Chronicles FMV, though. He wasn't hot there, and he looked nothing like the in-game Larson. :D
- Lara's Home (not Croft Manor), the Tomb Raider III version (with extra bits!), complete with the windy stalker (aka Jeeves) and button-operated fridge.
- The ring menu and original title font (although I know we're getting the movie title, but still, a girl can dream)
- Unlockable exploration tools (like a grapple, or a...uh...jetpack :D) that become available when you've completed the game.
- Unlimited weapon storage, including all or most of Lara's past weapons and perhaps some new melee ones (Blackmoor and I want to complete the entire game using a stick. ;))
- Old TR1 enemies and perhaps some new ones, such as new kinds of dinosaurs and whatever else one would expect to find in a musty old tomb
- Giant rooms, innotive puzzles, difficult gameplay, gorgeous surroundings. That whole Lara vs. The Enviroment feel that I think Elysia mentioned before.
- One thing I really liked about Legend was the backdrops they used. They were fantastic - it really looked as though you travel out there. I'd like to see that again in the outside areas. Even better, make it so they're explorable. :D
- The old controls and the new controls incorparted - I loved Lara's expanded move set in Legend, but I didn't really appreciate how restrictive it was. Lara should be able to take advantage of the enviroment, but with more freedom than Legend allowed.
- Tomb Raider music - the fantastic Nathan McCree stuff. I know it's a different composer, but I still think you could do a score based on the music in the old games.

Things I don't want

- The headset, Alister and Zip (although a giant poster of Alister slipped into the CD box would be acceptable...:mis:)
- Auto-grabbing
- Background music. Unless they make it less musical and more like the background tracks in TR1.
- Little Orphan Lara and her Where's-Mummy background story. The idea that Lara Croft only raids tomb because she's looking for her mother makes me feel sad, to be quite frank.
- Shiny secrets. Although I also kinda got annoyed in the old games when I would spend half an hour trying to get to where I thought was the next part of the level, but turned out to be a secret. But at least you got to explore, and it didn't just smack you round the face.
Saying that, I thought some of the Gold secrets in Legend were great in terms of placement. Like the one in Bolivia.
- Mercs. Larson and friends, I can understand. Ten dozen faceless zombies, I can't.

If I think of any more, I'll add them.

Why do people want Flares instead of PLS? PLS is much more effecient than Flares.

Flares are prettier. :D

I think that they should make the anniversary edition more like an expanded tomb raider, so from the croft manor you prepare for your adventure that includes which weapons you take, if you use the PLS or flares and so forth these kind of things should be options for the user not choice for CD to make for us.
