What do you mean?

Would I prefer the original TR or TRA if it was a remake? Its hard to tell from one photo, its hard to tell from Cores video of the 'other' one.

Definitely TR.
Not matter how good they make TR:AE they won't be able to make it as god as the originals, IMO.

People will always prefer the originals, no matter how amazing the remake is.

Now granted the new one may be a bit more fun to play if they do it right, but there's always gonna be that magic there in the first game that's just impossible to recreate.

I agree, that's why,I miss core, and I think eidos didn't really really take the right decision, don't forget that core's behind the frst 5 fantastic tomb raider games,no matter how bad AOD is or no matter how bad AOD THEY SAY is!
At least, that's my point of view
So don't think TR:A will be better or even equal to the first tomb raider:)
Just take the exemple of legend:)

This is an effectively impossible question. TRA hasn't even had a trailer yet.

The unbeatable original Tomb Raider, of course. :D

How could you say that?

Actually, in many people's opinions, they are. ;)
See, you cannot state that nothing is best for ever is a fact, it's opinion.
Seen as something being known as the best can't be a fact neither can your statement. ;)

Just because you think Legend is best, doesn't mean it is.
Same with me thinking the classics are the best. It's opinion.
But you don't seem to be able to tell the difference between fact and opinion.

He has a point though. All good things must come to an end eventually. However, I'm not commenting further on this.
ON TOPIC: I will reserve judgement once the game is out but I think I'll still be in the original TR camp. It's probably the nostalgic factor that'll keep me a fan of the original.

Yes, all good games must come to an end but that doesn't mean the classics can't be good for ever.
I mean, in 100 years time, you could pick up a classic and play it, it's still a great game.

People tend to compare things too much and then it leads to arguments. This is also a bit premature to ask this question. Prejudice is just that - Pre-judgement

Alright Alright, I'll comment further:p yeesh.

It'll be a great game by today's standards. It may not be concidered a good game in 100 years (assuming our society makes it that long). Alot of books written 100 years ago that were concidered great, have passed into history fairly unnoticed. I'd like to say that the TR classics remain so but We don't know. The fact that the franchise has lasted as long shows there's still some staying power but the younger generation that wasn't exposed to the originals (like legend4ever) when they first came out will have a different opinion. Personally I don't agree with Legend4ever but they're entitled to their opinion.

Now, I will no longer speak on this unless it's in regards to the original thread topic.

In your opinion, but I reckon more people would choose the classics over Legend any day.

Yep, I have to say I think you're right MT, if they picked up legend, they may as well pick up any platformer - they'll get the same feeling.

So one could almost say that Legend is cliche. I've felt this way for a while now but what also frutrates me about the game is that it's become too much like an interactive movie, IE, cutscenes, dramatic music vs moody atmospheric music, cliche storyline, etc. I'd rather go for the originals anyday.

Yea I know, I said I was done with this...*shrugs* I couldn't resist:)

The answer to that question depends on what made TR1 so special. In my opinion, the most important aspect here is that it was the first game of the franchise. It doesn't really have anything that no other TR has, and in fact is a pain in the you know what to get working correctly (compared to modern games at least, yes I know about the Advanced Installer) and lacks many moves that made life a lot more fun in the old games.

So if I guessed correctly, and the thing that makes TR1 stand out is really only that it is first, then for those whose favourite is TR1, no anniversary edition will ever be able to surpass it because it simply cannot be the first to show you this again. Those who played TR1 later than the others, on the other hand, will likely see TRA as better (unless CD screws it up), because it's newer and has modern additions.

If, on the other hand, there is something that TR1 has that no other TR game had (not specific like the Scion, more about gameplay), then I'm quite certain that TRA will fail to have this, too, and be consequently worse.

I dont know yet. If TRA is better then I ill prefer TRA. I expect TRA to be better than the original but if its not I wont be too disappointed. As long as its a proper TR I'll be happy.

1ST I have to see the TRA to decide. Topping TR1 will be really hard to do and when we know that CD decided to change some things  .... Kinda makes u to ,loose faith

As of right now, I have no idea. Once I've played a demo of TRA (or preferably the whole game), then I can decide :)

I reckon ill still love the Original more than the remake, because i dont think anything can beat a classic like that.

I am ever hopeful that they will do something genuinely outstanding.

I prefer the new RE over the old one... so there's no reason why I can't prefer a remake in principle...

But I don't prefer Legend over old-style TR, so fudging a few TR1 "key moments" into the Legend engine won't work for me.

What's important to me are the controls. So if they keep the same story, make additions, like moves, equipment, weapons, puzzles, gold levels, etc... I'll say it will be TR:A
