I don't love CD Lara.
Neither do many other people around here.
But I reckon stupid CD will do it again and make Lara look like a complete ass like they did in Legend.
no they didnt. lol u od.lol she looked pretty.

i prefer Legends voice, she sounds more british
This whole Barbie thing is getting old. Jusy because you have costume selection doesn't make the game Barbie-ish. If that were the case, all Resident Evil games are Barbie related.
She looks terrific in Legend. I just hope that no moron from Crystal would ever think of going back too the AOD model. Her face was flat, motionless and without expressions. But I highly doubt that, since unlike Core, CD know what new age gaming is all about.
You people need to accept the fact the Tomb Raider is changing like all the other games.

Changing for the worst.
Changing for the worst.
Change is not always bad my friend. I don't know about you, but some people actually want the old Grid-Based system back, just so it's like the classic. The nest thing you know, some people will request TR games with the PS1 graphics.
What is more important to you? Tomb Raider changing and live on? Or stay in the past and Core style and eventually die?

how can a different look and the fact that you can change her outfit POSSIBLY mean the game is changing for the worst. c'mon people stop holding on to the old Lara let her go she and you have to move on

i find it interesting that a small question caused an argument
Handing Tomb Raider over to Core again, is like handing a victim to a killer.
They lost interest. Why else do you think it was "The Last Revelation" because it was intended to be the last. But the game sold so well, that they (Eidos included) decided to make more profit and made Chronicles. And after it AOD. You could tell that there was no interest and dedication in their work. They only did it to make money off TR fans.
They had 3 yrs to finish AOD + another 6 months delay.
Crystal did a superior job in almost everything. The model is one of them. Her face actually has bone structure now, and eyes that capture an expression. She far more realistic than ever, and I'm sure that Crystal will only improve the model in the future.

well seeing as anniversary is a remake it will have TR feeling. CD will see how good the first was and now they know how to do that
PS i posted the part about CD 1 looking more British before i read Mad Tony's post

Is that all you say?
It's not about making her look British, it's about her being, a good, brave, kick-ass adventurer.
It's not just that, it's the personality. ;)
And the lack of TR feeling.
If by TR feeling you mean, crappy controls, grid system, cartoon-ish model lucky to have a face, over sized breasts (Core are nothing but perves. They focused more on making Lara's breasts Huge and bouncy instead of the actual game. For being an unfinished game, you'd be surprised how bouncy and well detailed her breasts are in AOD).
anyway If by TR feeling you mean, crappy controls, grid system, cartoon-ish model lucky to have a face, over sized breasts and what not, than I don't want the TR feeling back. Cause as far as I know, Legend gave me a much more setisfying gameplay feeling that any other game did.

yes they were extremely jiggly in AOD. Why did Core focus on such a small aspect.
i suppose because the big boobs are such a key element in her character. They always have been
Her model looks awful in AOD. In game actually looks better than in FMVs. Her hands were square-ish, her face lacked any expressions and her hair was like one large rock on her head. We're taking about FMVs. PS1 games had better FMVs that this.

 Why does everyone always bring that up? I've played AOD twice on PC and I did not notice that at all (the second time I was even paying attention for it because I heard about it and didn't believe it was there, and it wasn't as far as I could see). The only TR game I've seen Lara bouncing in is Legend, not to mention that awful dress...

Lara never had (and doesn't have) a 'reasonable' breast size whatsoever. They are big, but that's one her trademarks, like the twin pistols and the braid. I'm not saying it's fine, but it isn't a big problem either, she's not even real, so I can't see how the character is affected by that. In Legend, her breast size is just a bit smaller, but I didn't realize that till we had to play with her dressing with two little black rags. I felt the purpose of that meeting was having sex with Takamoto instead of talking to him
And I'm going to kill you all! [See, it's no argument :p]

To be honest, what bothered me most about AOD's model is her face. It's just dull. I brought up the whole breast thing to prove that Core were more interested in making her look like a sex symbol.
Sure the model is not as imporntant as the game and the gameplay, but still, the facial expression, etc do make a difference.

It's just a matter of opinions, you don't like AoD model's face, and I like both AoD and Legend Models.
The only thing that bothered me of AoD Lara's face is that her eyes move just a little, sometimes giving her an 'I'm dead' expression.
I really like AoD model and animations; she looks really true and natural.
In legend, she looks pretty but she is showing herself like a top-model, like a spoiled girl.
She was known as a rebel among nobility, in Legend she looks like a standard noble. It suits her new bio at least.
EDIT: thanks for the vocabulary, mau3genius
They're probably going to use the Legend look but I'm just fine with that, I'm more concered about the gameplay then how she looks.
They'll probably do some adjusting in the face to make her look a little older. Also should make her hair longer and braid of course.

I prefer the older looks, of course, of TR:AOD Lara.

I think so, yep. I also agree with Ward - Crystal could also fix it and make a proper TR game - if they looked at what made the classics classic, and tried to emulate and expand upon it.
The Legend Lara was the best evolution of Lara's look that started back in 1996 and has been updated every game. I believe we will see Legend Lara but with few updates.
The whole Barbie thing....you can say Lara was always Barbie because in every Tomb Raider game minus the first one Lara had many costume changes. The whole outfit selection thing if you didnt like it you didnt have to use it. With the shinyness talk perhaps not only does Lara get wet from water but perhaps she was sweating hehe. That person that said he never noticed Lara's Giggling boobs in AOD has got to be kidding me, when I got bored with that game I'd position her so the camera was in front of her and make her jump up and down to see the titties jiggle.
I like to think of Tomb Raider like my favorite Car Manufacturer Toyota, and their slogan "Moving Forward"

I totally agree with u, Legend Lara is beautiful.
I'm pretty satisfied with the evolution of Lara as she appears in Legend. I would like to see Lara's lips actually move when she is talking [in game], however.
I expect that the Anniversary Lara will be a younger version of the Legend Lara.
To me however, details about Lara's appearance is not really a focal point. I am more interested in the quality of the game, and a true offering of the original TR1 concepts.
Lets face it, Lara Croft has changed faces with each new game starting with TR2. She has not remained the same. And nor has game graphics.
Maybe.

TR1 Lara had the bun cause the braid was too complex to animate in-game at that time. In fact she had the braid in FMVs. I see no reason to give her a bun since it's possible too animate. It's like remaking AOD but including all the bugs and glitches on purpose.

they should do the braid and not the bun as i dont like the bun it looks odd
but back into 96, when you didnt new she was gonna be a succes we all played her with the buns,.. and she looked nice,.. now its a remake,.. i like the bun, cus i like to remember her the way i meet her,.. the braid was more complex, so,.. lets put her on the second part or in the rest of the games,..
after all, if they couldnt make a braid and for so, it should be putted now cuz eidos have finally the meanings, then maybe in the next gen she could also have wings, and several braids as well as some tails, and who knows if a pair of extra-arms and a little ring over her head,.. cuz now they are able to do that too,..

I don't want to watch a movie when I buy a TR game, I want to PLAY a game. Get behind lara and let's get on with something to DO instead of watch.
To be honest with everyone, i'm really not fussed on what Lara model they use, because at the end of the day, it's just a model.

Pretty much my sentiment also :tmb:
Well, the Barbie doll was designed to be the "perfect" look, I assume. Lara Croft was designed to be the "perfect" woman, on the outside. I suppose this is why they relate to each other. First of all, I'm a woman. Second of all, I was absolutely not kidding. I don't know what version of AOD you were playing, or if there are any differences in the versions. I played the patched PC version and I truly did not notice any jiggling or bouncing or whatever. At the very least, it did not come up in normal gameplay, although I admit that it never occurred to me to force Lara into a corner simply to "see the titties jiggle"

Oh there's a difference between how real tits move and how those things jiggled....anywho continue on.
I don't like her new features of her face, something was lost in translation, and remember how she used to knit her eyebrows when she was shooting an enemy in TR1, TR2, and TR3? I got such a kick out of that. For some reason I just thought the pony tail was shorter in TR1, and that it had grown long so she put it in a braid, in TR2... The ravings of an imaginative mind lol.
I liked the Legend look ok, and personally I like the large boobs, not all athletic girls have flat chests! Most comic book heroines have exaggerated features. The most disappointing change in the Anniversary look of Lara for me are the flat butt, and the more mannish square jaw, and the mannish hip movement in her new walk. Sometimes she looks like a monkey, an impression I never got from the original games.

Yeah and ya know I can't say I blame them. Playing in a world over that many games (did they do any other type of games?) must have gotten exhausting. I know I would be spent.

Come now Miss Dragon, I have come to expect less rash comments;) I would not call TRA a "quick, sharp thrill-ride.".:)
Its not that I don't like the breasts (can't believe I just typed that LOL) its that I like my avatars cool and to make sense. On her body (and I prefer the Legend one) they look like they would cause back problems! And thats not cool. And as to whether her looks matter or not they do for me cause like I said I like my avatars cool. I don't want her boobs to be what people come away with rather than Lara as Lara.
This is the Lara Toby Guard imagined and as far as I know, he helped design her at the beginning(TR1) and during Legend. But she looks like Lara. Dosen't she?'goes to check' She does....'double checks' Well. It's Lara. And I find that she looks exactly like she did at the beginning, it's just that her head's been made smaller, and she's more slender. And I don't mind the cutscenes. I'm pretty sure they would have made just as many cutscenes back then as they do now, but it was really hard for a six man team to work both on the low ress model and in a similar amount on the high ress model that appeared during those cutscenes. CD did exagerate with the waxyness and other aspects today, but I'm sure they're curently trying their best( hopefully) at meeting our demands for future games. And I thought we were in it for the game aswell. Get over these minor aspects. Have fun.( At least, that's what I keep telling myself...). Any way don't despare. There has to be something good in the near future for TR.
