View Full Version : bad slowdown after installing TRLM &TRLE..

Hi all, hope someone can shed some light on my problem..

I've just installed TR level manager along with TRLE,from the www.trlevelmanager.net site,in order to play some of the great sounding custom levels out there!...however..when I come to play a level, the game runs chronically slow with a very 'jerky' frame rate??

Also,if I go back to playing one of the normal TR games off disc(or TR 1 using Glidos),the same thing is happening,so I assume it's something to do with the installation of TRLM/TRLE..any help with this would be most appreciated!!

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

Maybe you didn't install it the right way. And it must be version 2.10.
But anyway: VDMSound is only for TR1, and has nothing to do with the Level editor and custom levels.

Do other games play fine?
Unplug the Saitek P880 Pad.
Before running games, it is recommended to unplug all USB devices such as a drawing tablet, do you have 2 mouses connected?

The version of VDM I have is 2.04..can v2.10 be installed over it?

unplugging the pad made no difference, and I only have one mouse.

I'm mainly a console gamer..the only other game I have for PC is 'Dark Fall' which is point & click..that seems to be ok,but it doesn't need the disc to play anyway..

Actually I may have cracked it!..just been running a spyware doctor scan and it threw up a few gremlins..got rid of those, rebooted and it seems ok now!!?

Ahh..That's an improvement!:tmb:

About upgrading VDMSound: no you cannot. You must uninstall this version. Then remove the leftover folder.
1-Also delete TOMBRAID and tombpath.txt (if it exists).
2-Then reboot the PC.
3-Then install VDMSound 2.10.
4-Reboot the PC!
5-Reinstall TR1 using the Advanced installer. Enable DgVoodoo. Let Installer configure VDMSound.
6-All details and links in our TR1 FAQ (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/faq/tr1.html)

Thanks for that Joseph, but before I do that, and because TR is running with full music and all other sounds - footsteps, gunfire, water splashes etc. - I'm still sure VDM must be correctly installed!!
Here's the startup screen I get when I launch TR with Glidos..it lists VDMSound - does this look correct??

VDMSound 2.01 is not the same as 2.10

But again: VDMSound is only for TR1, and has nothing to do with the Level editor and custom levels.
