Do you think that if someone purchases Trae before buying the real tr 1 and 2, do you think it will make then wanna play the classics if they buy trae.

Classics = Tr 1 tr 2

Only if they're already TR fans. I don't think a casual gamer could look past TR1's dated graphics. :(

Well maybe, but I doubt it. They only people probably still playing the classics are the people who started on them. TR1 was my first and my favorite game I ever played.

Some will, certainly. Most won't. Some will try and be appaled by the old graphics and different controls and will continue to tell everyone how much the old games sucked, I'm afraid.

l do not think most of the new fans will go on to play the classics, it is getting to hard to buy the classic games, and it is not easy to install and actually have them work on modern PC's unless you happen to know a handy Tomb raider forum to help you. So even those who might get curious about the originals, would not find it easy to play them even if they could manage to find them

I don't know if it is the same in other countries but in France, just after the last press release from Eidos, a collector of Tomb Raider games was edited. That collector includes all Tomb Raider from 2 to AoD which means all Core's PC Tomb Raider excluding TR1 (may be a coincidence with the press release... maybe not). So they are not hard to find in France and I think they are compatible with at least european computers.

Classics = Tr 1 tr 2Some people would never go back to playing games with out-dated graphics. If I had played Legend first, and liked it, I can see myself being a bit disappointed with the older games.

Yes and No, but I would lean toward yes, like they said nothing beats a classic even if its remade. Plus I've had that same experience with Prince of Persia wanting to play the original, and Final Fantasy VII I wanted to buy and play the older ones. All Eidos needs to do is re release the TR I in the original box so it is more avaliable! Or even Better Eidos and Crystal put Two games on the Anniversary edition. Both the one Crystal Remakes and the original with just some better smoothing and not so much texture stretching! So like Tomb Raider classic with the Glidos patch! Or they could do what Capcom did with Mega Man 1 on PSP the game is called Mega Man Powered Up and its Mega Man 1 in a remake with new graphics, enemies, and the bosses have cooler powers! and then you have the exact original of Mega Man 1 found on NES only its the same graphics as the remake just no extras. So Eidos could market the original really well, how they do it though is up in the air.

EVen if they don't put the exact original with the remake on Two discs why not have some collector edition bundles for like 50 or 60 dollars you get some extra interviews mini games and the original game. I think they need to go that way a collectors edition!

I look past it all the time I think once you feel the atmosphere you are like "WOW" no other game has this atmosphere even ten years later. I am still impressed when I enter the colleusum and Sphinx area. ITs breath taking!

Depends on the gamer's attitude and what they look for in a game.
For example, I played RE4 and loved it to bits. I'm planning to buy copies of REs 1 and 2. I've seen their rather dated but funny graphics and I'm not put off in the slightest.
Though RE4 is very different to the earlier games, I do know that the earlier REs are very much admired for their quality and because they are well made and enjoyable. I'm the kind of gamer that appreciates good graphics but looks to the deeper aspects of the game play. I don't care if graphics are dated, as long as the game is fun.
If there are gamers out there who aren't so fussed about graphics and are willing to give 'retro' games a chance then I see many people digging up copies of TRs 1and 2. :)

If they love the Anniversary remake, they would be fools not to try the original game..

I got into the series from TR2 onwards...

Think I'll buy TR1 & TRA on the same day for a Tomb Raider fest of some kind - might even take a day off work.

as i said once,.. im kind of a tr freak,.. and some other few games too,.. and when i played soul reaver two, not only i had to play the first one, but also manage to get legacy of kain: blood omen, which is really old, not nice graphics, you play it like diablo, and the good guy here is kain,... :D,.. i hope if people ever get into the new AE, well maybe this will be enought as to make people closer to the classics,.. after all,.. who hates charlie chaplin or metropolis from fritz lang,... or nosferatus, on the contrary people keep going to the past and bring back the style and make appointments for you to go back and revive something not long forgotten

funny you start with re 4, and want to go back to resident evil 1 and 2,.. let me tell you something,.. like in tomb raider, or even more,.. if you havent played re 1,2,3, then you just missed everything,.. re 4, is just game play, the story is kind of crappy,.. not really nice,.. i mean compared to the whole plot,.. uhmmm i think so,... anyway,.. i also enjoy re 4 a lot.... have you played the 3rd? cant miss cero, outbreaks file 1 and 2, and the code veronica,... is the same patter but the story unfolds new features,.. that come to make the forth not the best one,..

anyway the first 3, are the best!!!!! ok also the forth...

and back to topic... i guess like i said before, ae is just going to be a preview of what really tomb raider is,.. after it i guess we will start having like in the past a few tomb raider to talk about,..

PC back catalogues of old TR games, demos etc... are a bit easier to get, but try getting a ps1 disk. Not easy...

Most shops pulled them off the shelves about 1-2 years ago (there are ebay and other 2nd hand stores though...)

I have quite a few PS2 titles, and I always pull out the old TRs every once in a while - even if it's just to mess around in the mansion or play a favourite level for 10 mins.

I think there must be current console gamers out there who really only like a certain type of game, and if they can't get what they want (or are waiting for the next game) on their current generation, they will probably also be interested in the same type of game with outdated graphics etc...

I'd reckon, if I just got on the TR bandwagon after Legend, liked it, and knew that TR had been around that long it was about to celebrate an anniversary, I'd be really curious about what had happened in the past anyway, but of course it depends on the person...

Some might, but as it has already been stated some of the gamers may not look past Tomb Raider 1's dated graphics.

Yupp, it got me playing Tomb Raider (I had played Legend and liked it, but never thought to buy any of the older Tomb Raider's) when I bought Ann. I played it and loved it, and am not collecting the classics :D

I completed AOD, Legend and am now working my way through Anniversary. I managed to get my hands on II and III for ps1, and am really nervous about playing them, because I'm afraid I won't like the graphics and then I will actually be one of those people that blabs on about superior graphics bla bla bla!

I want to like them, but I suppose I will just have to see!

Really depends on whether or not they would want to play without dual sticks on consoles.
