I am visiting the Lourve in Paris, France later on this year.

It is a brilliant arty place!

Anyone been or wants to go to the Lourve?

It does look a nice place, if it is.

Omg, that's just so unfair. Everybody sees the best places in the whole world...except me.:(
I'm really jealous. Wanna take me with you? :D
Congratulations.:tmb:

I went there a couple of summers ago :tmb:

It's really cool - MASSIVE and so easy to get lost in. I also love the way it's designed - this beautiful palace you can walk around outside, and then you walk through the pyramid and down into this big modern area, which then leads onto the older parts. There's also an archaeological site (though no sign of Lara :p ).

You can definately spend a whole day there.

lol, Mona Lisa is tiny, dark and looks quite shabby, actually.
I've been to Paris, but only visited the Centre Pompidou, so the Louvre is still on my list.
Guess any in the shadows crawling visitors carrying plastic guns and grapple-hooks will be fellow members from the trf :D

That's what I've heard too. :D The most overrated painting of all time. A portrait of a woman with a slight smile on her face. Wha's the big deal? People try to come up with all these pretentious remarks about how enigmatic her smile is, or how it explores the mysteries of the human psyche *cough*, but it's just a portrait at the end of the day.

On the other hand various family members have been to Paris and loved it. I would really like to visit some day too. If you see me I'll probably be the one with the street map in my hand asking passersby where I can get Isabelle Adjani's autograph.

What is "Lourve" anyway? Isn't it from a Bon Jovi lyric "Baby you give Lourve a bad name"?

It's Louvre not Lourve!!!

http://www.louvre.fr/llv/commun/home_flash.jsp?bmLocale=en

Anyway, if you are a TR tourist you can visit the place where lara enters the museum (by blowing up the wall)

Don't just go to see the mona lisa...the da vinci paintings in the adjacent room are much better!!!

Yeah, I think that the painting is worth seeing for its reputation and fame rather than the actual painting itself. It is VERY small, much smaller than I had expected and I was told to expect it to be small :p

But it's still very much worth seeing.

TBH the most disappointing thing for me about it were the bloody crowds. I couldn't really appreciate it properly because I had people piling into my back. The room was absolutely FILLED with people all milling around trying to get a closer look. I don't know if it is always like that, because I went at the height of the summer when the Da Vinci Code was being filmed.

I just thought of something; is it just me or does the Mona Lisa look a bit like Geddy Lee?

Nice. I thought it was really funny that they had all these signs in 10 different languages reading "No photographing beyond this point" all along the passage leading to the monalisa.
