View Full Version : Invertory back.
Do you want inventory back? And whats more PDA, Notebook and so on.
I prefer inventory notebook and ability to combine items.
Inventory=yes, PDA and notebook=no. I don't need a log or hint system in the game, just show me the items I have, the weapons and ammo I have and the med packs I have.

PDA and notebook? No thanks:D
The classic rotating menu was great, really innovative as far as I know. I think it's really Tomb Raiderish, so yes, use it again! Or wasn't that what you meant by inventory?
PDA? Notebook? Nah. Lara can just use other people's notebooks after she took them out (TRII). ;)
I loved the classic circular inventory best, but I got used to the new one. I dislike the PDA/nokebook because I feel there is no need to log everything you've just completed.

I never used the PDA i loved her old inventory screen like in tr3. my fav screen!
i liked the ring inventory,.. i found it creative and really usefull, althou in the pad i can see exsactly where is she,.. and thats something i always like,.. but i guess thats too a bit useless
The inventory should have the look and feel of the Legend PDA performing all functions of the 'classic' inventory system.
Functions such as...
1 - Weapon selection and descriptions
2 - Item selection and descriptions
3 - Outfit selection and descriptions (I want outfits to affect gameplay)
4 - Objective descriptions
5 - Secrets collected and how many left to discover
:wve:
The ring inventory was perfect. You have your weapons in one section of the inventory, pressup to access your items in the other section of your inventory and press down to go the save/load. This was prefect in TR1-3. TR4 changed it slightly by having it all in one ring, which made it take longer to access certain items. AOD had everything in different sections. This was ok but I think I prefer TR1-3 inventory to this. Legend didn't even have an inventory. Whats a tomb raider game without an inventory? Legend is the answer and this is the least TR in many people eyes. TR has always been about key items. It was the main part of puzzle sloving in the first five games. AOD toned this down but still did have some key puzzles. I think the ring inventory in TR1-3 was the best. Also to keep true to the original it would have to be a ring inventory.

inventory yes PDA noooooooooooo
Did anyone notice that Apple stole Tomb Raider's ring menus for Front Row (http://www.apple.com/imac/frontrow.html)? Look at the demos, the basic concept is the same. Shows me that the rings are certainly not outdated at all.
As for Legend's PDA: I really didn't like this, but since I never had to use it, that doesn't bother me much. However, emulating the limited capabilties of a mobile platform on a platform that has no such limits is quite often not a good idea. It doesn't add any realism and looks bad at the same time. If they want to keep the PDA, I'd make it so that we always see Lara looking at the PDA (kind of like the first-person-view in Legend), with a bit of surrounding, and an animation from the current camera to the PDA cam and back, so that it actually looks like we are looking at Lara's actual PDA, instead of looking like Crystal Dynamics was too lazy to make a real menu.
As for some items: Weapon description in Legend was not very useful, since it gives you data that you don't need, but doesn't tell you what you really need to know (i.e.: In what situations is this weapon best?). I do not see this as a fault of Legend. Any game that has such weapon descriptions will end up with something like this. I don't care about these descriptions and wouldn't miss them if they were gone.
Objective description affects some of the same problems: You cannot really say "Find the key to gate X", as that gives the player too much hints for gameplay (finding out what to do instead of how was always a big part of previous TRs), and saying "Find the mystical artefact" is pointless. Legend ranged on the pointless side here. Again, I don't care whether they stay or leave, but I wouldn't want to have something added that wasn't in TR1 only for these two.
i want the inventory, but it would be aboit more interesting if the inventory was limited, like in RE4, but where you find weapons ond ammo ect in the levels, and there is only soo much you can carry, so when you pick up too much, you have to start picking the objects which are least neccesarry.
B.T.W this would only work for a future TR game, depending on how much they change the game, but for anniversary i choose the ring type inventory.
I just want all the weapons and items back into the backback. The way I see it, Lara (and me) EARNED those items and I'd like to keep them where they have always fitted so well/on Lara's back.
I'm afraid that CD's attempt to appeal to women or, rather, girls, with rewards in the form of a snappy wardrobe, just can not compensate for a well packed backpack.
In spite of all the nice clothes, Lara is naked without her hardware.
I don't really care about PDA or notebook...meh. The good old inventory rocks!

I don't really care!
I want the Ring Inventory.
Key Items & Artifacts
Weapons and Gear
Options
PDA/Statistics Clock. Doesn't make a difference as long as it tell me the secrets found and time taken, health packs use, etc...

i want the TR4&5 one
I didn't use the PDA while playing Legend at all! I want an Inventory screen! Like TR3! the Classic way!
Yes please, I want her unlimited inventory especially for TRA and every other TR game. :D
The PDA was useless, maybe if they're really picky we can "look" at our items through that option or something like examine artifacts/items/keys.

I want that inventory back too.
I want the classics inventory back.
Although it wouldn't come to a surprise if CD added some stupid PDA.

I know I loved the PDA it was the first time in TR that I actually understood everything in the game, where I was at, the history, what the artifact was, what my weapons were their ammo capacity. IT was the best source of info in TR. I think they should add the PDA and also add a map to show you only where you been in the level and the world map. And where you picked up artifacts and special items. Also I think they should combine this with the old inventory, so you can actually pick up keys like the original and open doors with them unlike Legend. And also Keep the quick menu kinda like Ratchet and Clank so you can just press up for weapons, down for lighting, left for medipacks, and right for what ever it was.

Maybe they should include the quick menu buttons, but we'll get to decide what the do. For instance I can set the left button to be PLS, I don't use binoculars so I can replace it with weapon switching, and so on.
