The game is not featured on earth but another planet, which is hostile and so is the weather by the looks of things. Humans struggle for survival with all sorts of new equipment, such as the vital suits (shown below, big robot thing, can't miss it), against alien life forms that have claimed the planet for thier own.

And because the weather is so harsh, you have a thermal energy points total on the hud (T-Eng) and you need to replenish this every once in a while or you can die from exhaustian. From the looks of things Capcom, the people who I forgot to mention are developing this, looks they have taken a step towards next gen gameplay (More next gen features can be found at the link at the end of the rant).
