View Full Version : Are lot of spoilers necessary to us?

Do we realy need lots of screens and videos?
So it has turned out, that by the end of development of "Legend", we already had a full screen- and video-solution. May be it is not necessary to developers to spread many spoilers?
P.S my English is suxx, sorry
What I want is to know what's going on.
Release date?
Will they bring back the old or keep Legend's gunplay?
Estimated time the finish the game
Estimated difficulty level.
etc...
But I read you, and agree.

When TRL was reelsed everything was spoiled. The end of Ghana ws the 1st place I actually found infamiliar. I suggest that CD should consider what to release and what - not.
I don't want to be spoilt with every inch of the game like Legend, but I do want to know the basics - whether or not it's a full remake of the original, the 'new' features, and a short video to see the game in motion... (not revealing how to figure out a puzzle, though!)

no we dont need lots of screens and/or vids.
Such things were better in the old gaming days.
I don't want them to ruin any surprises! Just a quick glimpse at the environments and maybe a short clip to see how she moves. Don't go giving away any solutions or locations of when enemies pop up. I want to be shocked when ol' t-rex pops up... :mis:
Well the already released screenshots didn't spoil anything IMO. They just showed us what the surroundings look like now.

No-one forces you to look at the videos and screenshots.
For this one, I will not watch any gameplay movies! Any interviews and previews. I did that with Legend and it took most of the fun right out of the already much too short and easy game.

Well, screenshots and videos of the game arn't bad, but let's face it, wherever you see them or not, you're going to buy the game anyway, arn't you? Go on, be truthful. ;)

Yeah but when media is released everyone here is talking about it in each topic. So if you want to avoid spoilers members should stop visiting this forum. So it's up to Eidos to controll its media releases.
I think they should show pictures from 2 levels max. No more.
I think I've already seen enough of the Lost Valley level actually... although naturally I can't stop looking. :D And people are already working out suspected puzzles... and I'm enjoying the speculation too, but I'm already getting nervous that it'll be spoiled.
There's only so much novelty and newness they can get out of a remake...
I think they have a responsibility to not put things out there.
I'd like to see a gameplay video so it's clear how Lara will move and interact with the environment. Not too many spoilers, of course (for example, no complete puzzle solutions or footage from lots of different levels. Croft Manor would be great for something like that).

I actually kinda wish they'd show us more screen shots. Most of the people on this thread have played the first game before, and we all like to compare those to the old game, even if it is a reworking on it. With legend, that was a completely new game, and they showed us EVERYTHING. With this, spoilers are not so bad, so IMO, MORE SCREEN SHOTS....just enough of the lost valley...let's see some palace midas!

I saw most of the Legend spoilers before the game came out and I didn't think anything of it. But then Legend was so short I realised in the end that I had seen a huge chunk of the game and that reduced the number of surprises.
I think CD should be more selective with what they show to increase a sense of mystery. Though I'm sure the AE will be longer than TR:L.
But no matter what they release no one forces us to look, and as hard as it is I will avoid spoilers if CD release too many. I'm limiting myself to a few game play videos to see how Lara moves and interacts with the environment and a few more screenshots. :) I WILL be strong! Resistance is NOT futile! :D
..let's see some palace midas!
No please, NO pictures AT ALL of Palace Midas... It is absolutely one of the best levels in TR EVER... I so do not want this one ruined. :p
No Cistern either.
If they do release any info on these levels I'm determined I'm not going to look... not even a little bit. But I'm worried about stuff given away casually in discussions on this forum... It's hard to avoid spoilers when the info is out there.
pssssssssssssssssst, blackmoor, natla dies in the end... :whi:

Exactly!!!!!!
pssssssssssssssssst, blackmoor, natla dies in the end... :whi:Heeyyyyyyyyy!!! :p
That was in the old one... ;)
I dont want too much media on it, maybe a few screenshots of other levels and one trailer but not showing too much into the game.
I just want to get a slight feel for the game, and then wait until the release to be suprised about the rest :D

:tmb:
Personally I think the only footage that should come out before TR:A is a trailer similar to Core's Trailer. Showing moves, combat and locations - not giving away puzzles or that much at all, but enough to really tease us into wanting it!
Heeyyyyyyyyy!!! :p

And it isn't necessary to kill her either - for the last few times I've played it, I've just let her die in the Atlantis explosion :jmp:
Let's hope it's not legend lara meeting natla at the end, they'll kiss and make up and probably do each other's nails...

I love to go into a game blind (i.e. with no info or screen shots besides those on the game's case). I did it with TR1, Primal (the game was preowned and had no instruction booklet), RE4 (I knew nothing about this game except that it was 'awesome' and it was! :D ), Beyond Good and Evil and Shadow of the Colussus. It really feels great to have the game surprise you again and again throughout. :D
And it isn't necessary to kill her either - for the last few times I've played it, I've just let her die in the Atlantis explosion :jmp:
How do you know that she didn't survive?Maybe she jumped in another dimension....just kidding, but maybe she survived just like Amanda:D

That's true B0bb13 - perhaps *if legend was set after TR1* that's how they would've explained Natla's return originally, before Natla was changed into Amanda.

Usually the studios and the people who make the games want as few screenshots and as little media released as possible. They don't want the game to be spoiled. Publishers on the other hand know that they need to get out as much stuff as possible to sell the game.
Think about it, if you've never played Tomb Raider would you buy the game without seeing some screenshots, a trailer, maybe a game play movie, and/or a demo?
All publishers do this, it's like making commercials only simpler and cheaper.

she woke up after i shot her with like 100 pistol bulets whose to say she wont come back?btw what does IMO mean?
I WANT A TRAILER!!!
Let's hope it's not legend lara meeting natla at the end, they'll kiss and make up and probably do each other's nails...

uh thats not funny.
How does seeing some KTF out by pistol whipping them doing eachothers nailes?
l have never really looked at footage before buying a game, all l saw of AOD before buying it was the next gen trailer. And for Legend just the TV advert with the box art Lara winking. That said since AE is a remake of a game l am extremely fond of playing, l will quite happily analyse it to death. l have played the original at least 7 times and l still enjoy playing it. So looking at screens and an odd trailer l do not think will spoil my enjoyment of the remake at all :D

I'm happy if we'll get a release date. I'm gonna buy the game anyways and see all it has to offer then. So I don't care how many screens or trailers we'll be getting beforehand. Sure, they're nice to look at, though :p
btw what does IMO mean?
IMO = In My Opinion.
Sometimes IMHO - In My Honest/Humble Opinion
:wve:
I want to see just a few screens like Natla and Atlantis, we've only seen screens from the lost valley level so far.
Remember it's not ALL CD, magazines show alot.
