I don't know if this has been posted before but it looked interesting. If it has been posted - it's probably been a long time. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/redface.gif

High Speed internet connections recommended. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif
(i.e. It'll be a while before I get to see them).
I used to keep track of my times for each level. Most of these times are about half of mine. But I would always try to pick up every item.

Can't wait to see these.
Yeah, i haven't seen it Capt.Murphy (thanks for the link by the way! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif ) and i always pick up every item too. I don't see why 'rush-timings' could be interesting. Without a scratch, pick up every item, kill all enemies, find all secrets, that all as quick as possible, ok!
Have you seen these, Capt.Murphy? Are they just rushing or do they contain abovementioned accomplishment? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Ok. I watched the first one. It is just a lousy speedy runjumping through the locations! http://joseph.tombraiderforums.com/Images/thumbdown.gif Receiving damage, ignoring every secret, and most enemies (only last wolf before level-end gets shot), nothing else than jogging straight to the shortest way out. Finish with healthbar at 1/4th.
Not worth the download.

Just watched level 2.
The only thing that is nice, is to hear the music at some moments where it is triggered.
O yeah, i didn't mention yet: this is the PS version.
So as a pc player myself, i never experienced that 'extra'.
That being the only interesting thing about this, i really hope someone will do this over: play the PS version so i'll hear all the sounds. But then i want all pickups, secrets, and enemies killed etc.! I want a good performance.

I've never seen any of them (yet). I thought I'd share so others could see if they wanted. I guess it's alright if anyone's interested to see what is the quickest way to go through the game. I would be interested to see how this person goes through Midas Palace with all those animals.
There are other games there where they do go for no (or minimal) damage and/or fastest times.

I'm still downloading. Even with broadband they take a long time.
I'll take a look at these others too Capt.Murphy.
Went to the other site but I still ended up at the same place?

All that waiting and it didn't run anyway. I'll take your word for it Joseph.
Didn't run?
I can watch them all.
I downloaded via the ftp option.
Joseph:
I think it was the Http(?) version. Took ages and the media player wouldn't run it. Thus 2 questions.
A/ Are they worth trying to download again?
b/ Is the ftp version faster at all?
[ 29. June 2005, 04:40: Message edited by: DREWY ]
I don't know if it's faster, Drewy.
Consider that i started downloading together with my first reply and i'm, still downloading. It completed file 9 15 mins. ago, receiving 10 atm.
For people with dial-up: it is NOT worth the download, nor 1 cent to your ISP.
For people with broadband, like Drewy and myself (adsl 3200 kb/s down) it doesn't matter. For curiousity reason i am doing it, for the PS-music.
Downloading 11. So that leaves 12 - 15.
I won't wake for it, i'm off to sleep. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif
I don't think I'll bother Joseph. Good night to you. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

The download is very slow, it's still not finished here (FTP here too, anyway), but I already have 10 clips. And yes..come on, these are pure speedrun-videos: I got exactly what I expected. Only TIME matters if we're talking about speedrun, and that's the only aspect besides no cheats - that's right, this is what speedruns are about! They show how fast a game can be completed when only time matters. LOL, I'm repeating myself... :D Many people don't like these videos, but actually I think, they are interesting to watch. I also find boring watching constant running jumping though, but from another aspect, it's interesting to see how some completing-times can be achieved. Aren't they a big deal? Well, try to beat the times first... ;) Many of the good times need tricks and very-very sharply positioned jumps for example (I know, because already tried stuff like these). The WR is 2:50 for "Caves" (by MKM), so Stacy's time is relatively easily beatable, however the person who did the 2:50 hasn't done a complete speedrun through the whole TR1 yet (what would be much more interesting). Stacy's work is unique momently: I can't tell You another TR-speedrun movie from anywhere. Again, speedrun is just a "fun-style", and those who make speedrun-movies already did experienced a lot from the completeness of the game...
I doubt I'll watch the whole movie-set anyway. But still, it's interesting for me to see how the PSX-version of TR1 works: savegame-crystals, loading-screens, menus, musics - many interesting things to see and listen! All in all, for me, Stacy made a good work, I only not very satisfied with the quality of the videos (sync. problems, sound issues, etc.), and indeed, as She mentioned, She did some serious mistakes here and there (was She in a big hurry, perhaps? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif )... Those who liked the videos from TwinGalaxies.com, They will like these too... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Not worth the download. What did you expect? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif It is a speed run as all the videos at SDA (hosted on archive.org) ;) ;)
A pretty good one it is. There is room for improvement though http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
If you want to see a really impressive Tombraider 5 run there is a Japanese guy called Shin that has finished it in 2 hours :)I'll se if I can find the link if you are interested.
Everyone is not interested in speedrunning though, so I understand that you might not find it good. I think it is cool actually but I want to play the game first and discover everything etc. Otherwise it is not fun at all. My favorites are the Resident evil games done fast http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I wonder if there would be some way for me to make my TR2 Temple if Xian 'run' available to the web browsing comunity? :D It's on VHS tape as played on my PS. But it's not really for speed. But maybe I could try that sometime. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif
Ah. I don't HAVE to. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/redface.gif
...a voice from the darkness.....
QRS, I'm interested in that TR5-speedrun stuff too... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif Please share it if You find it! Thanks! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

What did you expect? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Well, not this. ;) But i feel i owe the lovers of this genre (and the creator of these videos) my apology. And with all respect, i didn't know this was a 'specialism' shared by people. Sorry for my word 'lousy'. If this is the goal, (and why not?) then it certainly can be interesting to compare strategies.

Even on RPG games LOL. Keep in mind that there is a difference in "Time attack" and "speedruns". No need to go into detail but the followers doesn't like eachothers approach to games so to speak. To answer the real question why making a speed run I guess you know the game so well that it is not interesting in any other aspect hehe. At least that might be ONE reason as many of these players are expert players even in the "100%" category http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Oh and the t5 run -jap psx version- (and a few clips of other tr games as well):

beware of the slow download.. and shin saves and retries a few times.. but I understand him ;)
