View Full Version : Key Moments
This was inspired by Elysia's post in this (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=79674&page=3) thread.
What, in your opinion, are the "key moments" in Tomb Raider I? Seeing as the TRA will apparently be focused around the stand-out moments in the first game, I thought it would be interesting to see what people considered them to be.
I'm sorry if a thread like this has been done before. I had a look, but I tend to miss things a lot. :D
Well, to be honest, I think that every level has key moments one of which is Palas Midas when lara turns into gold and another is when Lara fights the T-Rex.
BIG key moments for me was whenever she discovered a new location and the camera panned the area to show the massive amazing terrain! The cool music would start and you knew they were gonna blow your socks off with something you've never seen before! :yah:
If I was them and was trying to recreate TR1 with key moments, I'd include:
Some caves at the beginning.
The Lost Valley with dinosaurs.
Getting into Natla's office.
Midas's hand moment.
A St. Francis's Folly.
A Cistern of sorts.
The tombs of Tihocan and Qualopec.
A Sphinx of some kind.
Colosseum.
An obelisk of Khamoon.
Natla's mines.
Atlantis.
Great pyramid
A bio-engineered Lara confrontation of some kind.
A super-mutant being of some kind.

definately the first time one of those bacon-mummy's burst out of those "eggs" in atlantis.
Also- the scene where she chases Natla on the bike and jumps out to the boat. (except this time we should be able to play that part)
the first time you see the huge Centaurs should be killer to see with current graphics.
being able to go back around to the Sphinx after draining the water from it so you can jump in and scream twice because the fall is so far...
etc...
etc...
etc...
So pretty much the WHOLE game... ;) :tmb:Well... :o I was meaning actual moments or things, not levels, so that cuts it down a bit. But yes, I see what you mean. :D
I wonder what we will get.
I think one of the biggest key-moments for me was when you first enter that room in Sanctuary of the Scion with the two statues. I totally forgot about that room, and had one of those lovely "oh, yeah! I remember this!" moments with it when I got to that bit. :D

I should hope we get the whole game!
When you first find the Scion piece in the tomb of Qualopec and the ceiling starts to fall to pieces, followed by your encounter with Larson.

The bio enginerred monster and of course the great pyramid, where you battle with natla. Where you walk apprehensively into that massive room and the exit can be seen right in the top hand corner and all that stands between you and the finish is natla. That was a memorable moment.

Yeah, pretty much every level, but in tomb raider what makes it so great is that every level has this key moment that goes into the adventure as a whole, if they can add them but surround new areas around them it would be great, but they got to keep some levels as whole and at least add on to them, Some levels like St. Francis folly should be revamped not taken apart!
