View Full Version : I've got the Lost Valley layout!

I've got it now! The old bridge with the Cog? The left hand side (Cog side, TR1) leads into that massive cave with all the rapids and waterfalls. And that plank that looks like a trapdoor. You can see in one of those new scans (WhosaidAODwasbad posted them in TRA FAQ) with the Lost Valley in full view, that the left side of the bridge has a brick wall...that looks like its leading into a passage!

Wadda think?

Ah! Another discovery! In another scan, you can see the tunnel that Lara is walking down in the first released screenshot!

I think the tunnel will still be in the same place - plus that last one can't be the same tunnel as the first screen we saw, as that was on the ground level with the valley.

Plus there was a tunnel on the left side of the bridge anyway, I hope it'll still be the same one! :D

I'm trying not to think about it right now ;)

I wanna save solutions and routes for when I get this game. :)

Exactly :tmb:

I am taking these screens simply as eye candy; I'll save the observations and analyses for when I am playing it :D

Actually l think Tomb of Legends might be right about that being the entrance to the valley (the second post), the corridor is man made, nice smooth walls, flat flooring and appears to be have a nice source of light at the other end. The cave does not have to have to be on the same level as the valley, it could be lower. The fact that they make us work out how to go around the entire cave just to get to the platform we could so tantalisingly see behind that ladder before we either swan dive or climb down to the pond is highly suspicious to me

But there are LOTS of wooden platforms scattered throughout the screenshots....

I think its too early to start making predictions...

Here are a few pictures of this particular wooden platform from different angles, it is not going to be easy to get to

Didn't they shorten the distance between the parts of the bridge?
I thought it was larger than that in the very first screenshot!

You're right! So that big 'puzzle room' with the windows in the rock is opposite the main waterfall! Nicely noticed!

this game is started to look almost as complex as a zelda game!!!

yay its going to be a brilliant tombraider

Nah, Ghana also seemed complex but turned out to be quite easy and linear. So don't expect much.

Damn, you just had to say what I was afraid of, didn't you? :( I hope that's wrong in any case because I would love for TRA to be very complex and thought-provoking.

In the very first screen shot you could not see all of it due to the brightness of the light, so you might have jumped to the conclusion it was a bigger gap than it actually was. l do not see anything to linear about the game so far, they have given us plenty of things to explore, and apart from getting the height by swinging up on the cogs, they seem to have provided several ways of getting places. The hanging rope near the back wall should provide at least a couple of interesting options. And if there is still only one right way that leads to the exit that is fine, so long as there are lots of other directions to investigate. Of course the first thing l will be doing is saving at the top and trying to jump across the gap to the ladder, but l am pretty sure she will not make it, and even if she did she will not shimmy around the ladder and might still not go all the way up, or possibly some sneaky person has made it so the wooden planks on the top will fall down when she stands on them, they do look a bit unstable. It is still not possible to see exactly how she is going to get to the platform from the slight ledge she jumps to there could be something further towards the top we cannot see, or maybe she is going to climb around on the rocks like in AOD

Maybe you're right, but I thought somebody adjusted the contrast of the pic so that the bridge was clearly visible and it looked pretty far to me.

I hope that the game lets us save there (or anywhere we want to, for that matter). A lot of games I've played let the character catch onto the "wrong" side of the ladder and swing around to the other side before climbing up. I'd be very surprised if AE has ladders that we can catch onto both sides of without letting us switch around in mid climb.

It is still not possible to see exactly how she is going to get to the platform from the slight ledge she jumps to there could be something further towards the top we cannot see, or maybe she is going to climb around on the rocks like in AOD

That would be so great :D (Assuming no strength bar, of course). I really love the climbing bits. I haven't really played Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine yet (my brother has it) but I do remember playing a rock-climbing section while he was getting a snack and it was extremely fun. I miss that in TR and hope it returns :D

not really,... think that the perspective is still a problem in the game,.. think about some of the pic of her in front on the waterfall,.. it looks small,.. and when you see another one, she is just tiny compared to it,.. and it looks massive,....

thts one thin and the other one,.. have you notice that the green leaves have always differen sices and really big sometimes?. like laras size compared to herself in the one where she is grabbing the stone in fron of the waterfall?... look ate the green canadien leaves,.. and now compare them to the ones in her boots side in the very first screen,... arent they the same?...:ohn:

Maybe the waters have magic shrinking powers and every time she gets wet she gets a little smaller.. :mis:

l am not sure what you mean by that krycekuva, perspective has seemed fine to me, the waterfall has always looked massive and all the ivy is large leaved, but would look smaller if the camera was further away from it, l have not seen any inconsistancies, but ivy leaves can be different sizes. If you mean the camera zooms out when you are near the bottom of the waterfall, l think that is just to give you some perspective, if Lara is in a position where she can do nothing but jump or drop down into the water l do not see that it is important having the camera close in on Lara, since you will not be able to really see where she is going. l am sure if Lara when hanging on to the lower ledge next to the water fall was to shimmy around to the other side where she could maybe reach elsewhere the camera would change to a closer view, when dropping down next to the waterfall on the right hand side it also looks like the camera will stay in front and zoomed out. l do not think they would have Lara running towards the camera and then change the angle, it would be a bit awkward, so l would assume as in the original that patch of land is surrounded by water and she is going to be diving in and swimming

l quite happily picked apart the Core remake and analysed it, this level is a remake so l have no qualms about analysing it, and l am sure CD is not going to be showing us to much of the new levels. l already knew l would enjoy the game so l am not going to be complaining about it, and no l never really complained about Legend :)

Know what my big deal with Ghana was, it wasn't that it wasn't cool and had cool puzzles its that they had mercs and high tech stuff instead of crawls past traps or taking out animals, or lots of cool small puzzles, legend just had too many humans and mercs and it kinda spoiled the ancient temple experience in ghana!

But agree I like to see what we think CD is doing and if we are right or not its just fun!:)

The bear one, and Lara doing her little exercise animation by the waterfall are from the scan of the French Official Playstation 2 Magazine http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=80240
l think the other one is from the gamestar magazine scan
