Announcement for ALL TRF Members n Staff...

When I first joined up this place was awesome I was here lol WAYYY too much but it was awesome was like a lil family and everyone loved everyone ahh back in the day.

However lately when i've come in every now and then I've seen the most rediculous things being said I've seen people basically flamed for speaking their mind and havving an opinion that differs from an Admin/Mod ...

Obviously I havent been here alot and i noticed my avatar had disappeard I PM'd TLR to ask what was the deal ... all he did was send me a link... gotta love the communication.

In more recent times i thought General Chat was for ... General stuff... I read up the sticky that if you dont have something to say then it's spam and it'll be deleted. Fair Enough. Even though techincally if someone made a thread and stated simply that they had chicken for dinner it'd open up questions and discussion... However I've discovered that what is appropriate and what is good enough to talk about is decided by the higher power... what we think and do and say is decided by higher power... That situation sounds awfully familiar I think the Admin of that situation was most likely Saddam or Hitler or Stalin......*shrug*

It's the internet it's a internet forum... it's not a government it's a place to just relax and voice your opinion, catch up with news and friends and just be yourself. Well that was my recollection when I first joined this forum.

In regard to my recent thread that was closed... I dont see why it was. If you read between the lines you'd see that i was calling out for help...but i was told it was inappropriate and was sent to the General Chat V like a bad dog. So I went there and posted what i had to say what was on my mind. I was shocked at the response, i was mocked.. now if it was anyone else here about their starving dog or baby they'd be banned and flamed but because it's just a girl who needs help you laugh? Ontop of that my posts were deleted YES deleted.. hmmmmmmm
Do the Admin/Mods have a prejudice against lonely, mentally ill people ? Or are you just against free will ?

Ban me for good if you wish I wont bat an eyelid... just know that this forum has changed so much it's too hard to recognise!

your avatar was taken down just like everyone elses. It was because they all had to be reduced in size and re uploaded which TLR was doing himself one by one .. so if all you got was a link it was because he was busy trying to help everyone as eficiently as possible.

Spam is just annoying. Yer general chat is ment for "chatting" and talking about random things but not just for pointless random 1 word posts to boost post counts or whatever.

Mods/admins have opinions jsut as the rest of us do, we are all human, so yes they may disagree but it doesnt mean you have to instantly agree with them. You still have your valid opinion.

From what i have seen, the majority of your posts havnt really had much of a point. Or are to vauge in the first place to be able to read between the lines as you put it.

sorry you feel this way.

*EDIT* the title of this thread.. well its most likely to be closed because its just trying to aggrovate and cause a problem. So dont act so supprised or that your totally right about how this forum is run if it does get closed

Meep
09-12-06, 00:25
Lol yes I know they have opinions but MY point is , is that their opinions override everyones....

you've been a member since this year ... I was here 3 years ago and A LOT has changed...

and telling me my posts are useless?

that's the attitude I'm talking about

viper456
09-12-06, 00:27
they would not be closed for no reason. yes i have been here for a shorter period of time than you but i know what sort of threads would be closed and which wouldnt. I have never had a thread that i created closed.

your opinion is not overrided.. its confronted. Not everyone has to agree with everyone else.

I´ve been a member for ages, and I think it´s better than ever...

I´m sorry you feel this way, Meep. :(

By the way, I saw your thread, maybe you should try eBay if you're so keen to auction yourself off. I mean, WTF was all that about? You sounded like some sort of online prostitute or something, not that I have a problem with that or anything, but advertising on this forum is a big NO NO. :p

The mods here really arent power mad. They are the best mods i have ever known. (and thats nto me trying to kiss up) I have been on a few forums and they are rubbish because admins dont do their job and they are power mad.

The mods here talk to you, help you and are friendly. They are only ever slightly harsh when they 100% have to be.

09-12-06, 00:38
I didn't see that thread that got deleted, so I can't say myself whether it should have been deleted or not. All I can say is that so far I haven't seen any mods here delete posts without a good reason (I've only seen it happen if someone said something threatening, racist, etc.) If you feel that your thread shouldn't have been deleted, then I guess you could either PM tlr who runs the forum, or just accept that the people who pay for the forum can decide what's appropriate and what isn't. Maybe this isn't the best place to receive individualized psychological help, if that is what your thread was asking for. In any case, I hope that you can find whatever help it was that you were looking for :)

TLR I did ...

I thought I could get answers from you because you seemed the most level headed... i get that you're busy but people keep saying the admins are oh so friendly ...

a reply with a link doesnt tell me anything ... i havent been here for ages ?

There's only ONE mod that gets me and wont flame me like you lot have.

The amount of times i've seen threads with " my boyfriend this" " my best friend that" "Im havving a cry because THIS happened" " or im just plain upset" is incredible..... its almost like and ive always said this ... the popular ones can get away with murder ...

if anyone remembers this has been my view on this place since i started here!! :|

If you have some specific concerns about the way this forum is run, please tell us! It's difficult for us to read between the lines of posts when we have to read hundreds of them every day, and that's on top of the problem of subtlety being lost in transmission when it comes to the internet.

We won't bite if you confront us with valid issues, I promise you. The staff here are the friendliest folk you could ask for. :) If you're not happy with the response that one of us gives you, you can always ask one of the other mods/admins.

Howdy Meep :)

Okies. Our fine little community has gotten itself uber busy during the past year, and so we've created a monster General Chat Thread for folk to pretty much broadcast anything they want (within the realms of decency, of course)

It appears Elen was directing you to that thread, and I agree with her action.

However, despite what you might think, I'm not a little Hitler, Stalin or Hussein, so not only will I reopen your thread, I'll also bid $1. ;)

We do our best for you fine folk Meep, because without you, we as a community would be pretty much stuffed ;)

I still think this forum is one of the best in the world, and I have also been here for a shorter period of time. This forum is not like any other forum. This one differs in the amount of trolls that we have; we have far less trolls than any other forum. This is a really nice place where people are actually friendly. They chat and socialise with eachother, and there is also a "Congratulations" thread, which no other forum in the world contains. If you want to be part of the social group, don't leave the forum, just go to Open Chat Thread and talk about random stuff there, instead of creating a new random topic. There was really no need for you to express your emotions about the forum's Members, Mods or Admins. They Mods/Admins have control of everything and they do whatever is necessary. If they lock this thread, it would be because what you're saying may be unnecessary. You don't have to share your anger with all of us.

Threads usually do have posts in them that are nothing to do with the original post. It happens all the time, and not just on these forums.

I personally don't find anything wrong with it, it adds a bit of 'flavor' to the forums and makes it a more of a friendly place.

And I love how the forums are at the moment, there is nothing wrong with them. But I don't like to sound mean, but if you don't like the way they are run, nobody is making you stay.

But thats my two cents,
Jamie.

In some ways I agree with Meep. This forum has changed since I first joined. When I first joined all the members I met were friendly, genuine people and the forum was very mature, relaxed and very willing to help.

I'm sorry to say that that feeling has gone now and the members here now seem up-tight, and ready to pounce on you at any wrong move. You almost feel afraid to post certain things because the response you get will probably not be good.

Recently I've joined a few other forums, but they're all having the same community problems. I don't understand why a few people getting together on the internet for a discussion always leads to mindless flaming and argueing over who's right/wrong and who's idea/opinion was stupid.

Times (and people) change.

But please, don't ever feel too scared to post something just because of what you think others may say. Different opinions are most welcome; people pouncing on and quoting rules at each other for expressing different opinions, however, is not. (That's what the mods are for. ;))

Next time you want to post something sensible but are worried about how people may react, just post it and see what happens. If it gets crazy, it can still be sorted out.

Meep i can relate to you that some members that were once here and we loved have gone now. The forum does feel different and things have chnaged, but its now 2006 not 2003.

The moderators are still the same, and they have to do the right thing at the time, sometimes it can be wrong. But most of the time there is good reason for actions taken by the moderator. There is no point contesting there decision because there word is final.

You just have to learn to still enjoy this forum as much as possible. I know i do.

Yes, I have noticed a difference also but thats only because TLR has to pay £300? a month for this forum, and also bandwidth issues etc.

So its mostly due to the server and stuff.

There use to be a great gang of friends mostly from the UK here but they got banned ALL of them, now I have no way of contacting them, but whatta gonna do. I musy say that this is yet the best forum i know!!, and yes ppl are friendly here (members and Mods/admins, etc), sure some times some one cames here and try to disrupt us, but is always a short actitude to see with no big deal results.
I also see diferences here, but that is because the world is changing in first place!, not the TRforuns! ppl are changing so the foruns change also, because foruns are made of ppl!

i do not participate so much as i do in the past due to my present overloaded work timeschedule.I missed a lot of old ones that are inactive, but some of them are here yet, and that makes me happy, because i spend very very extreme pleased times here with many ppl in the past.
i still love this place, it makes me feel good, have nice ppl on it, it's related to something that i adore...Lara Croft, and have always interesting things to read. so for me it's a perfect place.
