View Full Version : System Requirements for the sims2
I got a new computer like 5 months ago, and before i brought the sims2, well with my old computer it did not support it, and so its all screwed up.
So 5 months on, I'm considering buying it, and just wondering if my computer is compatable and play the game at a reasonably fast speed.

The Sims 2 will probably be as addictive as the 1st, here re the specs:
600 MHz P3 processor (http://www.devhardware.com/forums/#)
256 MB RAM if Windows (http://www.devhardware.com/forums/#) XP, Windows ME (http://www.devhardware.com/forums/#), Windows 98 or Windows 2000 (http://www.devhardware.com/forums/#)
At least 3.5 GB of hard drive (http://www.devhardware.com/forums/#) space If you have a non-T&L capable video card (such as TNT2 or Intel Integrated (http://www.devhardware.com/forums/#) for example) then you need at least:
1.5 GHz processor
256 MB RAM if Windows XP (http://www.devhardware.com/forums/#), Windows ME, Windows 98, or Windows 2000
At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space Recommended video cards (and the more video memory the better):
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Nvidia Geforce 4 or FX series cards
Should work fine. :tmb:
So, what graphics card do you have, tr_mitch?
Other than the 2 above comments, i tell you that it is by far not certain yet that the game will run 'perfectly' or 'fine' unless you have a good graphic card, and not merely an onboard graphic chip.
Graphics card - NVIDIA GeForce 6200 LE
But like i said, i won't bother getting it unless it runs smoothly... I had that problem when i had the old sims on my extremely old computer and it was seriously glitchy and slow.
Oops sorry i missed that, you posted it under the picture so i missed it my bad. :o
GF6200 is very basic and no gaming card at all. The LE version is even below that.... :(
Please take my advice tr mitch; if you expect decent and satifying performance in games, invest in a card that is built for that task! You will never regret it!
It's Ok Joseph. I'm too high on the christmas spirit to cry. :)
Sucks to be my computer.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry. What does this exactly mean? too high on the christmas spirit to crysorry my basic english.:o

Lol it just means the christmas feeling is too good at the minute for me to get sad over a my computer not being the best to run a game.
If it wasn't nearing christmas, maybe i'd shed a tear. :)
OK, my intuition went the right way then, so I'll ask you bluntly: are you maybe expecting some big Christmas present, in the form of a console (XBox360 with HD widescreen) or a new PC or at least a better card? :D

Stunning Joseph. You should post pictures of yourself more often. :)
That wasn't me, just Googled.:o But i really really cried, believe me.
Seriously: your 'problem' is where my interest in computer hardware started. In 2000, TR3 ran with bugs in sound, i decided to buy a soundcard. That was solved then. Next \: Morrowind refused to install at all. Then i decided to buy a good graphics card (Radeon 9700Pro). It turned out it needed a stronger PSU ! :( Soon i started to learn ...
When someone posts like you did in your initial post here, i feel the same emotion of disappointment i had back then. And my determination to attack back! :tmb:

I don't really play games on my computer more on my ps2, and so I don't really think it would be worth it to buy a good graphics card just for one game which i'd play every now and again. But yeah i understand where your coming.
Keep your chin up. :( ----> :)
