Did you know that there's an extra secret in the first level?
You can find 4/3 secrets. Kind of like the castal village of TR3 but this one still counts them as 3 even if you find 4.
Just thought you might want to know if you don't already know.

Yeah, can you be more specific, Raid?
I know that in Tomb of Tihocan you get to hear the 'secret' chimes when you put the golden key in its keylock to make those pillars rise in the pool so that you can cross it. But this is clearly a mistake, and of course there's no secret there.
Do you by any chance refer to anything similar in Caves?

One is at the begining of the level. you slide and jump and grab.
The other is in analcove after you shoot the 3 bats. The other one is down the pit after you kill the bear that looks like kuma from tekken. The last one is a grassy alcove after you shoot the two wolves, (right after the pit).
So the extra secret that you refer to is the place down the bear pit.
How do you know that's an extra secret? I mean, do you get any chimes when getting down? And what do you find in that pit? I don't remember any pickups there :confused:

Visit the caves level and see for yourself. try all four.
If I wasn't clear enough about there locations:
The 1st 1 is located right after the darts. when lara looks up automatically, ignore that and head for the far left corner. jump on the slide then jump again and this time grab.
The 2nd one is located after you shoot those three bats. head to the left and locate a high ledge.
Note: If you do a standing jump and hold X, lara won't make it. You need to hold X and press up and she'll jump all by herself. Shoot the bat and get secret 2.
The third is located in the bear pit. Before or after the save game crystal I'm not sure. Kill the bear, drop down, enter the door, shoot the bat and get medkit AKA secret 3. Stand on the brown floor to open a door right infront of you which leads the 2 bridges where you killed the wolves earlier.
The 4th and my guess is that this is the extra/bonus secret and it is right after the 3rd. head to the far door after the pit, then the danger music theme plays. Shoot the 2 wolves. Don't go down the stairs yet. Keep going forward, then turn right and you should see a grassy ledge with plants on it. Jump on it and enter the alcove. This is secret 4 contining a large medkit and you'll see a wall with paterns on it inside.
The resume the level normlly.
That is as detailed as I can put it.
What's so hard to believe about this anyway? Even in TR3 there an extra secret. (Coastal Village).
Anyway, try it and I hope I was of some help.

Secondly: I simply asked you how do you know about that place being an extra secret. The typical chiming music is heard when you get to the 1st, 2nd and 4th places that you are describing, so we know for sure those are the three official secrets of the level.

I've fetched that bear pit medi several times in the past and never heard the secret chime.
Furthermore, my end of level secrets total always reads 3/3.

I snatched the tv from my little cousins (Which was kinda mean of me) Placed Tomb Raider in the PS2 and played the level Caves. I can officially clarify that there is no chime in the "3rd secret"
The reason there's no chime is because you fall into the pit if you don't reach the ledge. Get attacked by the bear and the small medi-pack is there only to heal you from the attack. I just passed the entire first level and my statistics say secrets: 3/3.
So in conclusion, what you think was a secret, was just a goodie and a detour to those bridges.

And I hear hear the secret chime when I enter the door and shoot the bat.
Besides I descovred the grassy alcove secret much after the pit and still always got 3/3 secrets at the end of the level.
I'll double check again though, cause it's been a while since I played this level.

I don't hear it in my game so either you confused the chime with another secret, or it's a bug.
I play mine on emu so it's probably a bug.
In fact last night i heard it again.
But then again I heard it in city of vilcabama when i killed a bat and when I collected the silver key.

No you're not the only one that hears a chime. When i get the medi pack where the bear was, i heard it too. Well thats just me. Something is wrong with my game. Cuz in the alcove where you kill the bats. I used to be able to get up there. But now Lara can't reach the top. And i put her in the same spot i always did. ???? Can anyone help with this?
I may be in the wrong spot, bit vague, but is that where you get secret 2?

Yeah Secret 2. I know i have to go the edge by the wall and jump and grab the ledge. But its like she can't reach anymore. And she always used to.
You don't have to jump.In the corner is a low snowdrift. Stand on this, as far to the left as possible while facing the ledge. Press Action + forward to grab the ledge and pull up. Hopefully this is all thats wrong?
