View Full Version : What do you thinkof the new things that's been said over TRA
Things that Clara has said and what i think about is
Important points :
- Eidos didn't say if Unfinished Business will be included
Oh to bad!!
- When she walk on unstable surfaces, you have to maintain her balance
COOL
- The grapple is NOT magnetic
YES, finally the word i was hoping on
- No vehicles
What??? Why??? ( did tr1 had any vehicles??)
- The environments are much more interactive : she can use them for lots of things, pick up a piece of wood on the ground and use it as a ladder
 Don't understand
- The only weapons are pistols, shootgun and... UZIS !!!!!
Fine by me.
- Puzzles are more complicated. There is no clue or sparkling thing to show you where to go.
Cool, i love CD:gki:
- There is more than one way to explore the environments and complete a level. You can choose the acrobatic way, or the easier way...
Yes, I'm going to be lost!! haha
- Fighting ennemies is still an important part of the game : the beast are much more realistic and their AI has really been improved. They are more dangerous than before, they develop a real strategy to kill you. For example the raptors run around Lara in circles until they are enough to jump at her...
OH MY GOD. I LOVE THIS. IS THIS COO OR NOT.
- This isn't 100% sure, but Croft Mansion could be back, and not only as a training level but with real purposes to achieve.
Great
It now looks like a real living game. i love this and i love Clara for posting her thread.....
What do you think
Everything is looking great. I'm just getting more and more excited about this game every day. I'm probably much more excited about this than I ever was about Legend :D
I think its all great :jmp: I'm so excited, I'm acting like a five year old about it all! :D
- When she walk on unstable surfaces, you have to maintain her balance
Nice!
- The grapple is NOT magnetic
It'll still work the same way though won't it?
- No vehicles
Oh well, we basically got that motorbike level in legend with her following a van!
- The environments are much more interactive : she can use them for lots of things, pick up a piece of wood on the ground and use it as a ladder
Majorly excited about this.
- The only weapons are pistols, shootgun and... UZIS !!!!!
********, I WANT Magnums!
- Puzzles are more complicated. There is no clue or sparkling thing to show you where to go.
Thank you so much
- There is more than one way to explore the environments and complete a level. You can choose the acrobatic way, or the easier way...
Great stuff!
- Fighting ennemies is still an important part of the game : the beast are much more realistic and their AI has really been improved. They are more dangerous than before, they develop a real strategy to kill you. For example the raptors run around Lara in circles until they are enough to jump at her...
Sweeet, I just hope Lara fights as good as she used to, and not like she did in Tr6/legend.
- This isn't 100% sure, but Croft Mansion could be back, and not only as a training level but with real purposes to achieve.
The old building? :jmp:
I agree with you RAID and BlackGrey. I know we will not be disappointed about TRA. I can place a bet on it(well, not for real of course)

the use of the enviroment sounds so good- it should be a really good feature.
I haven't seen anything so far that disappoints me. Compared to the dread I felt with pre-Legend media, this is a delightful refresher. It seems we are going to get our old TR back with all the benefits of today's technology.
<Slaps CD on the back approvingly>
Everything Is Just Amazing!:)
I would have wanted a wider arsenal of weapons, but everything else sounds just fantastic, especially the more interactive environment. I was never a real fan of vehicles, so I don't mind them being gone. :)
Woop Legend!
09-12-06, 18:48
Didn't they say that Legend would allow players to be able to finish levels differently though?
- No vehicles
What??? Why???
that's quite a good decision IMHO. first of all, there were no vehicles in TR1, second, don't you remember the hell that is the motorcycle levels in legend? *vomits all over keyboard*
I´m getting more and more excited about this remake! I can´t wait for it to came out (this game will be my doom in colleage, lol)
So far they keep saying what I want to hear, I hope they stick to it this time! :jmp: That bit about being able to use things you find in the environments does sound exciting, riv!!! :yah:

it is all great
Important points :
- Eidos didn't say if Unfinished Business will be included
They didnt say unfinished business wouldnt be included ;)
- When she walk on unstable surfaces, you have to maintain her balance
Ah, so maybe tightropes too ?
- The grapple is NOT magnetic
Thank God! I dont think itll be as usefull this time :) ( yay )
- No vehicles
Ah good :) I was hoping to be able to ride the blue bike, but nevermind :)
Legend style sucked anyway .
- The environments are much more interactive : she can use them for lots of things, pick up a piece of wood on the ground and use it as a ladder
Well this could be fun, imagine using the wood to smack the raptors :vlol:
Bat down the bats :D , or ram up the t-rexes arse :whi:
- The only weapons are pistols, shootgun and... UZIS !!!!!
Im satisfied :)
I was hoping for the magnums, But i can live without them, and
chances are we may get them, afterall, we may get actual upgrades
this time, or maybe we gettem after the game....
Or as they only played a bit, they didnt see them :)
- Puzzles are more complicated. There is no clue or sparkling thing to show you where to go.
Would you believe i used a walkthrough with legend :vlol:
Ghana, Kazackhstan* and England level lol :whi:
I can blame some of it on my dads crap TV display :( FUZZ
But on TRA.
Im glad, the TR1 puzzles are to easy nowadays :)
- There is more than one way to explore the environments and complete a level. You can choose the acrobatic way, or the easier way...
Thank god! I want massive areas, move gorges, more rivers etc!
I seriously hope they dont mean, " walk on the bridge or jump across ".
- Fighting ennemies is still an important part of the game : the beast are much more realistic and their AI has really been improved. They are more dangerous than before, they develop a real strategy to kill you. For example the raptors run around Lara in circles until they are enough to jump at her...
Well that got me hyped! I was hyped enough when i saw the turd, oh whoops, the bear :) I was like " it looks evil! aaaaaaaaaaagh !!!! " :vlol:
Imagine the rex's AI! :o
Or the atlanteans..
- This isn't 100% sure, but Croft Mansion could be back, and not only as a training level but with real purposes to achieve.
Oh good :) Aslong as it isnt legend style, and more tr2/3 :)
What do you think ?
This'll be a fine game! But i wish people would stop ****ing analyzing it!
Like " oooo the bridge is down, ", " There's that cave ! "
It spoils it for people who want to read comments and not people's "idea's"
on how levels work :(
I cannot wait to fight the t-rex or swim :)

Important points :
- Eidos didn't say if Unfinished Business will be included
Who cares? - seriously they are re-doing TR1, thats more than enough for me!
- When she walk on unstable surfaces, you have to maintain her balance
Sounds interesting but I think they have stole this idea from AoD and Core, but hey wahtever I like it!
- The grapple is NOT magnetic
Seriously - WHO CARES!!! - I didn't like Legend sparkling magnetic grapple so this is a whoot for me!
- No vehicles
Wonderfull, the Legend bike bits SUCKED anyway I wouldn't want them in this re-make :D
- The environments are much more interactive : she can use them for lots of things, pick up a piece of wood on the ground and use it as a ladder
This sounds Awsome!! - can't wait to see what other stuff Lara can pick up and use around the enviroments. I hope they keep it varied mind, using the ladder thing is great but there should be other stuff too like using the arm off a rotten skeleton to reach some distant lever or grabbing some rubble from crumbled statues and keeping it for weighing something later in the level
- The only weapons are pistols, shootgun and... UZIS !!!!!
GREAT!! I love the Uzis! :)
- Puzzles are more complicated. There is no clue or sparkling thing to show you where to go.
YESSSSS!!! I hate those hints in TRL - its great to see that Anniversary will be completely free of glowing objects and sparkling hints, what a whoot!
- There is more than one way to explore the environments and complete a level. You can choose the acrobatic way, or the easier way...
Very interesting, I think the acrobatic way is for the original fans of TR who like it hard and complicated while the easy route is for those Legend fanboys
- Fighting ennemies is still an important part of the game : the beast are much more realistic and their AI has really been improved. They are more dangerous than before, they develop a real strategy to kill you. For example the raptors run around Lara in circles until they are enough to jump at her...
I doubt the enemies have better AI but still you never know! :p
So long as theres NO MERCS - I'm happy!
- This isn't 100% sure, but Croft Mansion could be back, and not only as a training level but with real purposes to achieve.
Interesting!! :whi:
This game is looking fab, can't wait to play it!! :D

I'm glad CD have listened to what the fans want, to make this game as great as possible :)
IF it's good, meaning waaaaaaay better than legend, then I hope sales triple! Then eidos will see this is the kind of game consumers want... ;)
They are making really a “suit to size” :)

The thing which makes me angry is that there won't be any Magmuns in TRA. Not only did I love 'em, but they also make great weapons, and that also means there'll only be 3 guns in the whole game.
Maybe they just didn't see them? Maybe the magnums are further along, like in the palace midas level... :whi:
Here...
http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/headlines3079.html
sorry no magnum talk
None of the magazine articles indicated they played or saw anything but the lost valley level, so there's no telling if there are magnums or not... ;) Don't lose hope, yet! :mis:
True Vman, maybe they just didn't see them - I'm just hoping that's the case rather than Toby Gard stating that was all the weapons there were..

:cln: I am really excited about the combat, croft mansion, mainataining balance on unstable surfaces, and especially the part about where you can pick up a piece of wood and use it to make a ladder...SO INTERACTIVE!!!:cln:
Hopefully the crumbling floors will be back! That'd look so nice in current gen! It looked and felt great in TR6, so there's no excuse for it to be left out of TR:A , when there was some essential parts that had to be reached by them! :D

crumbling floors with spikes below...hell yeah :jmp:
Crumbling floors with spikes below and NO BLACKOUTS is essential! :D
I still have nightmares about diving off that platform high atop Atlantis, and after 1 second it fades to black. :(
Crumbling floors with spikes below and NO BLACKOUTS is essential AND that punctured sound of air escaping from lara's lifeless body! :jmp:
The breaking bones :cln:
Ahh the fun that can be had with ragdoll effects! And the places in Lost Valley look so high up this time! It's going to be ace without blackouts, isn't it Crystal.
blackouts suck
i wanna see broken bones and crumple noises :jmp:
da tomb raider!

Yeah, it'll be great without blackouts! Lara's arms and legs going all over the place as she breaths one last time... :D

Important points :
- Eidos didn't say if Unfinished Business will be included
I never played it, so I won't know what I'm missing actually, but it would still be nice if they could include it.
- When she walk on unstable surfaces, you have to maintain her balance
Sounds interesting but I think they have stole this idea from AoD and Core, but hey wahtever I like it!
^If they stole that from Core, then they suck. Heh, maybe Core just gave that info to them? dunno. But anyway, it still sounds cool, fun to be just that much more involved with the environment and in controlling Lara.
- The grapple is NOT magnetic
Don't know what to think about that, seeing as I didn't play Legend, but since it involved shiny stuff, then I guess it's all for the better. At least this way, it'll have to actually hook onto something rather than attach (sort of) to a metallic surface, right?
- No vehicles
Kinda sucks, I liked the vehicles in the past games but since Legend didnt' allow for much straying off of the path, and we didn't really have a vehicle in the first game anyway, I probably won't care about the lack of them this time around.
- The environments are much more interactive : she can use them for lots of things, pick up a piece of wood on the ground and use it as a ladder
Still doesn't quite make sense how one piece of wood could actually do for a ladder, heh, unless just one piece is missing from an old one then, sure...but it's cool that we can use things from the environment like that. In previous games there had been things I'd really wanted to use, and maybe they'll let us keep some of them, like they did in TR4? with the crowbar.
- The only weapons are pistols, shootgun and... UZIS !!!!!
Yeah, out of all the of the games, the Uzis were my favorite as well, so it's good that they didn't drop those when they were reducing the amount of guns we could play with in the game. I guess it's not so bad since in the first game we actually didn't have that many guns anyway, right? But I will miss the magnums too. I just hope that with the acrobatics they return the back flip, that ability of Lara's combined with the uzis made killing things more efficient for me, good weapons and she can move around and make herself less of a stationary target. The gymnastic moves were cool though, just where's the backflip?
- Puzzles are more complicated. There is no clue or sparkling thing to show you where to go.
Great, like the old games. I liked some of the changes Core made to TR4 with those puzzles, they were loads of fun and more interactive and logical than just pulling the levers of course. I loved the game we played with Semerkhet (sp?) and the one with pulling the chain and the floor-on-fire bit too. I look forward to this part. The shiny stuff sucks, but even the hand in AOD wasn't so bad. I had actually been hoping for something like that in all the games before, 'cause there had been times of real darkness on the levels and I'd wanted to look for items to get from the bodies like guns, but didnt want to waste a flare. The hand saved time when it showed up and gave the hint that she could pick an item up.
- There is more than one way to explore the environments and complete a level. You can choose the acrobatic way, or the easier way...
Very interesting, I think the acrobatic way is for the original fans of TR who like it hard and complicated while the easy route is for those Legend fanboys
Hell yes. It is better than just sticking to the Legend version, but kinda sucks anyway that the easier method introduced by that game is still in...at least it will be a tribute of sorts to the old methods, hopefully.
- Fighting ennemies is still an important part of the game : the beast are much more realistic and their AI has really been improved. They are more dangerous than before, they develop a real strategy to kill you. For example the raptors run around Lara in circles until they are enough to jump at her...
Sweet, so if it is actually better, then the attacks will be more fun. It's cool if they implement real raptor attack patterns, that would mean facing down a pack of them, at one time, and the same for the wolves too actually, and they wont just be charging at either one at a time either, they all might be trying to bite her and bring her down at once... err, anyway, sounds cool. that bear was huge in one screenshot posted, I wonder if it'll stand on its back legs and swipe at Lara (making it eight or so feet tall)
- This isn't 100% sure, but Croft Mansion could be back, and not only as a training level but with real purposes to achieve.
Sweet. I missed the mansion in AOD, I know they would have brought it back if they'd been allowed to finish the other games, maybe, but it will be fun to see the older mansion updated. I think the Legend one was ok actually, but it didn't much look like the old castles and manor homes I've seen in pics and all that, more like a celebrity's new mansion..
The missions part sounds cool too, much more to explore. I hope those doors will be open this time.
IF it's good, meaning waaaaaaay better than legend, then I hope sales triple! Then eidos will see this is the kind of game consumers want... ;)
Yes, only with parts of it Legendized. That won't go away, I believe. In this game, they'll likely be working on the perfect balance between the older versions and the kind they want to make, with more innovations and movie-inspired changes. And then, if the old fans all go away or conform, there wont be any need for that balance. It'll just be all movie based.
The thing which makes me angry is that there won't be any Magmuns in TRA. Not only did I love 'em, but they also make great weapons, and that also means there'll only be 3 guns in the whole game.
I liked the way they sounded differen when firing them. They were my favorite of all the guns she used in TR1, so I think I was actually looking forward to using them again in this game. :(
