Dunno. Perhaps word of Tomb Raider Anniversary is spreading now, or maybe the kids are off school?

I think its a bit early for kids to be off school yet, So it probably is all the news about AE. :)

Now the big question is, when will TRF reach the 10000 mark?

That could be it. Whatever it is, they really miss a lot by not being a memeber here!

Well now you know why we're getting so many spam bots.

Yup. Thanks to our fine forum members who have graciously supported my request to lower the size of avatars. :tmb:

So did the non viewing of avi's for visitors drop it any further?
(Ignore this if you answered over the week end.)

Oh yeah. Big time. Guests not being able to view avatars has also made a huge difference to the overall consumption of bandwidth.

Resizing the avatars, visitors not being able to see them and disabling a couple of features did cut the consumption of bandwidth in almost half even though the number of visitors increased by over 2000 in 10 days.

Good work everybody :tmb:

It's getting close to Christmas, plus Anniversary is coming out, so more people will be joining and visiting :D

Wow, i did not know that turning off the view avatars option helped drop bandwith. I've had it off for a while and i just recently turned it back on. I'm going back to the off option. Avatars really make no difference to me. You should post those numbers all the time. I'd love to check up on how our friendly forum is doing. :)

Justin, is there any sort of 'grading system' for the Google advertising that partly subsidises the forum? I mean, advertisers are always keen to put their products where they're going to get seen - perhaps a more popular forum like TRF would be able to attract higher paying advertisers (and thus help cover more of the costs)?

We had that deal on Tomb Raider Chronicles, but unfortunately the forum is still under the limit for custom advertising, and therefore not able to benefit from a higher advertising rate. The ads on the forum have always been low performing, which is odd because the return is much higher on our magazine. I'm actually considering removing the forum ads altogether.

Oh, that's a shame. Maybe we should all start telling everyone we know about the forums, get the daily hits average up a bit :D

Glad to hear the bandwidth issues are improved now though :tmb:

Uh oh. I consider myself warned. ;)I would hate to be around a Burning Board when the Trailer comes out and a total meltdown when the Game hits the Store and this Board is filled with Spoilers, Screenshots and a whole lotta talk about the Game. :p Sadly when South Africa get the Game, i will know everything from beginning to the End. :(
