I think the game will be released on :

- PC
- PS3
- Xbox360

I think TR8 will be in Next-Gen graphics only... -_-

Ditto- next gen only,

Ps3, X360 and PC.

You might see a version of it on PsP/DS like with legend too though.

What makes you say that?

In one of the scanned articles from last week (can't remember which, or I would quote it here) they stated that the next game would be on PS3; so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to go ahead and assume that the 360 and PC will also be included. Who knows, they may even manufacture a slightly different version to put on the Wii!

it seems to be the norm to bash PS3 and hail the mighty 360.......so,i say TR8 is PC/360 and maybe add a Wii version

PS3 sucks remember..360 and Wii are miles better according to some folk, plus the PS3 is (shock horror) rock hard to develop for, why would a devs waste time on Sony piece of junk

Sony are doomed because xbox fanboys say so

btw...i'm a Sony gamer and will be till i die,or Sony pull out of the industry :D

My prediction is PS3 only. I think this because its all thats been mentioned by eidos so far and if they mentioned PS3 I would have expected them to mention the 360 as well if it was on that as well.

I would have thought that they would make more money releasing it on all consoles like they did with legend.

i am not buying a ps3 for 1 game so i hope they release it on ps2/xbox...

I say Eidos and CD stick to the PS3, because of Eidos and TR doing well on that Console, I am not sure of the figures of Legend for Xbox/360 but I bet PS2 was the most bought TR Legend probably over 50 % were sold for PS2 and the other 50 is PC, Xbox/360, until now they got GBA, DS, and Gamecube.

But right now I say its a PS3 exclusive, and later about 70% chance its going to 360 too. But I say it will either way because TR8 should hopefully be a success especially the way TRA is looking, hopefully they change TR8 in that way and go into the Classic TR/Legend Direction with the emphasis on Classic TR! OF Course.

Eidos has previously announced that TR8 will be on the PC the 360 and the PS3. But assume that they elect to go exclusive with PS3. Right now there are about 8+ million 360s out there, maybe about 400,000+ PS3s and god knows how many PCs I suspect that about the time TR8 is released the 360 and the PS3 figures will increase by about 1.5 million. That still means the the biggest potential market is on the PC and 360 share. If Eidos made it a PS3 exclusive someone, read Sony, would have to make it very lucrative for Eidos to ignore the PC and 360. They elected not to do that with Assassin's Creed so I can not think they would do that with TR.

I see TR8 as 360, PS3 and PC.

Cochrane
11-12-06, 20:37
Very difficult. I'm not that certain at all that Eidos would really ignore the current-gen systems. The main reason for this is handhelds: The PSP is not capable of the graphics seen in any “next-gen” system, but it can hold it's ground against a PS2 or Xbox, and it's the best in terms of graphics you can get on a handheld. Wii has not that much better graphics and a huge mindshare, but Eidos could probably get away with ignoring that platform if they really wanted to.

I just don't think that there are enough “next-gen” capable systems out there to make a “next-gen”-only release really a good idea for Eidos, especially with the Wii and the handheld systems being anything but “next-gen”.

I don't see the logic in them only releasing it on PS3/Xbox360 because they're both still very new and not as many people have them as as they do PS2/Xbox, so the TR sales would probably be better if they released it on the less recent consoles too. It'd make for a smart move, since Crystal Dynamics and Eidos are already being scrutinized like crazy for every decision they make.

Only the super-devoted would go out and spend $700-$1300 for a little $40 game!

You'll have to excuse me. Evidently, I'm retarded. I wasn't sure about the price, so I looked up PS3 on Amazon.com and that's what it said.

I think most are thinking that you have a console $600, a game or two $60-$120, A second controler $40 so that initally you are talking about $700-800 outlay.

BTW a clerk at EBGames was telling today that Sony is losing $300 on every PS3 they sell. He said that there is about $900 worth of hardware built into the PS3. Can any one verify or refute that?

^^^ That cannot be true...Sony wouldn't release it if they did not make any profit and it does not cost that much to make a console i mean look at japan's electronics, their like real cheap so the PS3 cant be worth $900.and also the PS2 was next gen (for its time) and look how cheap its gotton now, it released at around £200 now its £70.

Dingaling
12-12-06, 18:58
Microsoft lost around $75 - 130 on every Xbox 360 sold when it launched. Most companies do when they release a console - they make the profit on software sales.

nice article Dingaling........it tells me one thing......."aint no cheap crap in the PS3" :D

i will check that again because im part of a PS3 forums ;)
but if it is true it means that sony have lost around $27m because they have sold 90,000 consoles :p

@agent 47: it is alot when the games come to around £50-60each and you may say the graphics are much better than the xbox 360 or it plays blue ray dvds, but i doubt people will buy the PS3 to play blue ray dvds and to get all you can from the PS3's graphics you will have to buy a tv that was about £1700.*i remeber reading somin like that in a console magazine*

depends how you look at it really...most retailers will charge different prices for games.........i seriously doubt each game will retail at £60 in the UK.....between £40 - £55 is my guess....even then it's games that make money on consoles.

as for Blu-Ray, well i couldn't careless to be honest...i'm getting a PS3 for the purpose of gaming...yeah! i'm intrigued by Blu-Ray but it is not the driving force behind my decision on buying one......HDTV also doesn't interest me,i'm not a "graphics mean everything" kinda person

it said in one PS2 mag that the PS3 will look good on a normal t.v because of the chips inside it....a HDTV will simply make them better still :D

StUdEnT rAiDeR
12-12-06, 19:48
The PS3 can only go SO FAR on a normal tv and that piont can be reached by the xbox 360. If you play them on normal tv they will both look the same, if i remember correctly it is all the lines on the TV that make in better and the best HD tv will show the PS3's full ability and the xbox wil not be that far behind it, so you can really only see the difference between them if you get the £1700 tv, like i said before:rolleyes:

But in japan you can REALLY see the difference and thats why they are so popular ther (sold 70,000 in 5 days). Because japan is 2 years ahead in technology and everything there is HD, and now in japan the HD tv's are really cheap like £200-£300 cheap. i think its 'HD ready' that the xbox 360 can get to, HD and 'HD ready' are different things,'HD ready' is a lower form of HD.

It's amazing the amount of money Sony will lose to make a profit. As I said, the profits are off the software sales so for every game sold Sony will get a percentage of the money. They know they'll make that $27 million back pretty easily because the gaming industry is pretty huge (bigger than the film industry!)

there is no definitive answer to give...only that

components cost money, each component mounts up and adds more.........so it costs Sony more in the long run

that's why they'd prefer consumers to buy the hi-spec 60GB model...they lose less money

your $27m guess could well be on the total loss on the 20GB model, but who knows  ....either way all three consoles are losing money for each company.............

but like i said, at least PS3 isn't built using cheap materials :jmp:

StUdEnT rAiDeR
12-12-06, 20:53
ok just say all the ones they have sold are the hi-spec 60GB models...thats $241.35 * 70,000...that equals $16,894,500 loss. Now say that half of them are 20GB models thats...$8,447,250+$10,739,750, that equals $19,187,000.

so about $20m sony have lost if 35,000 units were 60GB and 35,000 units were 20GB, of course there is 20,000 more units sold but 70,000 was like 5 days after launch. $20m is still a huge amount of money to be lost even for a major company like Sony. And with 1,000+ units getting sold each day (i think) the money getting lost will become greater, i mean in a few weeks it will be $30m and/or more! but yeah agent 47 at least we know its not made out of crap materials:)...but i'm still not sure to belive that sony would lose THAT much money.

Cochrane
12-12-06, 21:31
Sony is evidently hoping that the prices will fall. For example, the chip that is basically the core logic of a whole PS2 inside the PS3 costs only $27 now. Reading the article, you'll also find that Microsoft is already turning a profit selling Xbox 360s, something they (if I recall correctly) weren't doing at release time.

I think PS3, Xbox 360 and PC are no brainers here.

StUdEnT rAiDeR
13-12-06, 17:17
yeah but even if the chip money did go down they would have sold well over 150,000 units i mean it had been released for 5 days and sold 70,000 units. And it would would have to go down in price by $300 which i doubt will happen in the next months. the PS2 has sold the most units EVER for a console so imagine the PS3 in like 2-5 months...or even more, it would have lost around $30-40m!
