Hold on, I was going to Download TR1 Gold from the site Tomb Raider Master stated, but it said "full version requires TR cd" does that mean you must have the game already to download it?

Joseph

It only means that you must have Tomb Raider 1, to be able to play the downloaded version of Unfinished Business.

I've tried to download the first one and I get a folder with a bunch of stuff in it. I don't know what to do. My knowledge is low when it comes to this stuff. What do I do?

Joseph

From where (URL) did you download exactly what, Valtiel? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Valtiel

From the link that Bokkie provided. I attempted to download "City of Vilcabama Part 1". I wait for it to finish and I get a folder with icons in it. I don't know what to do from there.

Valtiel,
From its readme i read:
To play this demo WITH SOUND, you will need to set up your sound card using
the SETUP program.
Once you have done this, run TOMB.EXE and off you go. 'run TOMB.EXE' means to doubleclick it.

Joseph
27-07-05, 03:45
I just played it through.
I enabled the sound by first doubleclicking SETUP.EXE. The TR1 sound configuring menu appeared. I chose "Manually select card",
-Soundblaster
-Port 220
-DMA 1
-IRQ 5
-Continue
-Save settings
-Exit.

Played demo with sound, by doubleclicking TOMB.EXE. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

Hey daventry http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif Long time no see http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

You can download for free the full version of TR1 Gold from TRC ( >> LINK << (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr1/gold/demo.html) )

As for the Lost Artifact, it isn't officially available for download yet. Maybe you could try Amazon or e-bay.

Assuming you have XP Daventry, TR1 will work with dgVoodoo or Glidos, TR3 runs fine, and 4 & 5 will likely need a patch each, available from TRC. Just post if you buy the games and need the patches and someone will direct you to them. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hi daventry.
They say Demo because to play Unfinshed Business you need to have the original TR1 cd.

The differences between the 3 is that the exe's are different for different video-cards. 3DFX and Power VR are old. On most modern machines the first is the one to use.
Shadow Of The Cat is included. The full name is Unfinshed Business / Shadow Of The Cat. ;)

DgVoodoo and Glidos are software that both do the same: making TR1 run on XP looking much better than TR1 orginally did! Read instructions HERE (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/~simulation/trhub/tr1/faq.html)

Tombraider 1

I can play the Game with no sound and no music.

Joseph - I just played it through.
I enabled the sound by first doubleclicking SETUP.EXE. The TR1 sound configuring menu appeared. I chose "Manually select card",
-Soundblaster
-Port 220
-DMA 1
-IRQ 5
-Continue
-Save settings
-Exit.That worked, but the Game Menu freezes. I press the flag button on my keyboard to shutdown the Game, then i restart it, but it still freezes.

I downloaded this www.tombraiderchronicles.com/headlines2333.html (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/headlines2333.html) and installed both the Glidos and the Voodoo, they just slow down the Game terribly and everything freezes.

Hi.
You have to first install VDMSound version 2.1.0
Reboot the pc.
Install TR1 using the Advanced Installer. Choose to let AI configure VDMSound. Choose to play with DgVoodoo (included in AI). You have a NVidia card (V9999), so you do not choose to disable VDD mode.

The soundsettings you chose are right. But it is better to let AI configure sound in VDMSound. Read again instructions on this page (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/~simulation/trhub/tr1/faq.html)

The Graphics are Horrible and just plain old. Witch of these will work www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr1/fixes.html (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr1/fixes.html) because the Game just freeze.

Joseph

Those are only other exes for other graphic cards than you have! Don't use any of them.

Joseph
09-08-05, 23:21
The Graphics are Horrible and just plain old because you are not installing the right way. In my previous post i have the link to the page you should study. Just follow those instructions exactly, that's all.

Tombraider 3

When i install these two patches www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr3/fixes.html (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr3/fixes.html) the Game is looking for the TR3 CD

In the Menu Screen, there is this weird line. Its like someone just took a pen and made a straight line upwards.

I read something once that when you start a New Game, there is a Cutscene before you play.

Joseph

" AWE 64 & TR3 Update
Resolves sound issues with Soundblaster AWE64 cards, and also minor adjustments to the main tomb3.exe game executable"
-Do you have a Soundblaster AWE64 ?

"AMD 3D Now Update
Update for AMD 3D Now users improving performance."
-I guess this one you could use. I have no AMD, so no experience with it.

The weird line (red, i assume?) is noticed on several copies of the game, reported by other members. My copy(ies) does not show such a line. There is no solution for it, and luckily the line doesn't affect the gameplay at all.

No, there is no cutscene before the game starts.

Tombraider 1

I can hear gun shots and animal roars and water ect, but there are no sound and music like where Lara speaks to Larsen at the waterfall and where Lara confronts Natla where she is talking about a new breed. There is also no opening theme music at the Game Menu, when you are going to start a New Game.

How to check the Tomb Raider CD:
TR1 and TR2 CD-ROMs are both mixed-mode Data + Audio CD format. Place your CD into the drive. Now start Microsoft Media Player and select the CD-ROM drive. You should see and be able to play 9 audio tracks for TR1 and 60 tracks for TR2.I dont see any tracks on my CD Game of TR1

The tracks must be ordered numerically, as detailed }HERE (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/tr1/faq/audio_repair.html){ otherwise the tracks will be played out of sequence.

TR1 Gold

I can understand that these two Levels (Level 3: Atlantean Stronghold - Level 4: The Hive) fit with the TR1 Game in a way, because of all the Aliens and so on, but what does these two Levels got to do with anything (Level 1: Return to Egypt - Level 2: Temple of the Cat) To me, they just dont fit anywhere in the Game. The First Level was short, then the Second Level was long and it ended with a view of the Mountain and a Statue infront. All of a sudden in the Third Level, im sliding down a ramp to where these broken Buildings are with these Aliens.

From the official Eidos notes for the two pairs of levels:

In the TWO EXPERT LEVELS of "Shadow of the Cat" Lara returns to the city of Khamoon to discover the secret of the strangely beautiful cat statue, and sets off on a new adventure following the trail of the cat to it's deadly and mysterious conclusion.

"Unfinished Business" provides TWO EXPERT LEVELS of Lara's dramatic return to Atlantis - Lara has discovered the existence of a ruined segment of the alien city, allegedly containing a hive of surviving creatures guarding an alien hatchery. In this new adventure she must destroy the aliens before they invade again!

On the other hand, the level designer, Phillip Campbell, says that the two UB levels were meant to directly follow the last level of the original Tomb Raider, thus coming before "The Shadow of the Cat" levels.

I stole this info from Tomb Raider Traveller's Guide (http://www.trinity.westhost.com/tomb)

What don't you get? She was busy hunting the Scion her first time through Khamoon, now she goes back there to check out the ruins in more detail. Except she finds the city has flooded in her absence and she needs to find a new way in.

I could agree with you about the UB levels, but not the Shadow of the Cat levels.

The problem with the Cat levels is that it begins in a part of Khamoon you've already been in in TR1 - except now it's flooded.

You'd either have to alter the levels to fit the storyline, or alter the storyline (and FMVs) to fit the levels.

In any case, I doubt there's sufficient revenue from a rerelease of TR1 with minor changes to justify doing any significant development work.

Now, a remake of TR1-5 in the Legend engine, like Nintendo did with Resident Evil for GameCube...there's something people might pay for. I'd certainly be drooling over it.
