Depends what bear you mean. There's the one that can sometimes appear at the start or the one that is after you fall through the trap door into water by pulling a switch.

If it's the second time, you can swim in a passage underwater to get to a safe spot where you can shoot at the bear and hang on the ledge to lure it out.

If it's the first one... er, good luck with that then!
