I also think they should do something about him...in fact, something about the three of them...we know nothing about them, not even their names. Their only purpose is having Lara´s guns, only to be killed by her pistols. The Cowboy, Skater and Black Guy may stay faithful to the original, but those who are new to TR will find them rather funny.

yeh the skatboard kis was random but he made it more human and i think hes there to remind everyone that its just a game. i remember i was so involved with the game that wen he came in i suddenly realised i was only playing a game. it was funny. and as ive said before in other convos, games dont have to be realistic and so we dont have to ask "why would Natla hire him".

Nothing gave me more pleasure in any of the games than when I blasted that punk to smithereens.

I remember the first time I played the game and entered that "skate park". When that ghetto-sounding piece of crap killed me with my own Uzi's, I lost it! On the reload I was determined that he would not kill me again, and I managed to take him out within one tick of my own death. I actually went back and played it many times just to kill him again and again. :)

That was an homage to Robert DiNero in Taxi Driver. I was very puzzled as to why it was included too. It seemed very out of place, and made the character even more unecessary.

there's only one dumba$$ in tr and its LARSONWell, he wasn't THAT dumb in TR1. He did manage to follow Lara's path into the Peruvian cave and fight her outside Qualopec's tomb, and SOMEHOW make it to the inner chamber housing the last piece of the Scion before Lara did.

For the record, I loved Natla's henchmen in TR1. I loved the fact that while there are a total of 6 human opponents in the game, they all stand out, they all have speaking lines, and some of them even have names and personalities too. Compare that to TR2 where there are 250 + enemies who are just different varieties of about 6 or 7 bad guys, all of which are more numerous than lice. In TR2, bad guys were a dime a dozen, but in TR1, all of these fights were memorable. You don't forget any of them at all.

Personally, I hated the skateboard dude and always took great pleasure in killing him (even though he still kills me about half the time). Even more so than those guys who rode on snowmobiles in the Tibetan Foothills. I guess that's saying a lot.

I hope TRA doesn't mess with these guys by removing their essential (and almost comical) strangeness, or have Lara face 100+ anonymous henchmen. Sure, flesh them out a little more, but their peculiarities should be built on, not undermined.

You're point about the "comical strangeness" of these guys is spot on. That's another way in which the game was a unique experience. Whoever thought of the Skateboard Kid had one heck of an imagination!
