I know but the other levels he/she played almost regulary just taking shortcuts and being fast, btw if you are looking for shortcuts in tr1 those videos are right for you
That's exactly how I don't like to play. I like to stop and explore slowly and enjoy the view. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I just watched the first level, I'll check the others in a bit. She jumps all the time, to go faster, it's irritating. She gets hurt a lot too.

this is really fun to watch. took more than a few practice runs. i'd be interested in seeing it done with all kills/secrets/pick-ups.

Yes really fun to watch , its just a pitty that it takes so long to open the media -_-*
I remember we had a thread about this earlier. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif TR1 Speed Run Movies (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000807) ;)

I once dloaded all of those and watched them... It was fun, really nostalgic :D
Not to blow my own horn, or make any of you feel... 'inadequate', but this time doesn't seem all that impressive... does it?
I mean, for intended speed playing surely 2 hours 45 minutes is around par? In my experience it is, and she's only knocked 6 minutes off that...

i take back what i said earlier. this would suck if someone was trying for all secrets/kills/pickups. the chick has some nice strategies. she never hits "look" to line up a jump, just kinda flies by the seat of her pants and is still amazingly accurate. she avoids getting up on a block to finish lower-level enemies and never uses the square-jumping to dodge fire balls in the upper levels (although she will jump a bit). she is keenly focused on bringing the enemy down as fast as possible (and then, only when conflict is unavoidable) while not being generally too concerned about damage done to herself. she performs some amazing jumps to avoid small sections that i thought were mandatory and performs two killer door-hacks at the end of the city of khamoon to bring her directly to the exit.
also, while watching it today, i realized how much i had forgotten about this game (haven't played it since 97). the gorrillas are formidable enemies that cover ground very quickly and natla's mines is a very well conceived level, although rather asthetically unappealing. altogether, good stuff.
on the flip side, she wastes too much time saving her game. in the speed run she's doing, she'd just have to start the level over if she died, so i have no idea why she does it. makes no sense.

you know where she wasted alot of time, when she is in the moddle of a box for example and she needs to jump of its ledge, instead of going a few steps back and runing forward and jumping, she goes a few steps forward, lines her self up, backs up then runs and jumps

absolutely. i saw a lot of that, too. good eye. i did like a move she pulled in lvl 2, i think, where she was jumping to gain speed and found herself about to hit a wall. she hit action to put lara into the grab animation, thereby skipping the little "oomph" where lara puts her hands in front of her and then takes a second to recover from slamming into the wall. simple and effective.
WOW.... 2 hours and something
It's fun to watch it.
That is what I call an efficent Tomb Raider! :D
hey!its not opening?!?! :(

it takes a LONG time to connect. try the ftp connection link that they offer. it went faster for me.
thanx http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I thought part of the definition of a speed run was that one finished the game in one go, with no reloads. At a minimum, if one does reload, the part that's redone is kept as part of the time in the run (like strokes in golf).
If that's so, then I call foul. I see clear evidence in the video that some of the reloads do not immediately follow the saves. In several cases I see a few frames of Lara being dead while the reload happens.
Not that there isn't some amazing raiding going on, don't get me wrong. But good technique alone does not a speed run make.

I just watched the speed run videos. The most interesting thing for me was to hear some of the music from the PS version of the game that is missing from the PC version.
The Glidos Audio Pack has restored the PS music to the PC version. So far just for the first three levels of the game.
