View Full Version : Problems running TR4...

I managed to run TR4 perfectly fine this morning. I had some C++ books arrive in the post and I had to install a Dev-CPP enviroment (a program), which obviously recognise exe.'s/executables and things like that. Ever since I've installed the program Tomb Raider 4 hasn't been working, so I un-installed it as it was the obvious problem but I keep getting the below errors alternating on what I run. If I run autorun, I get the first error. If I run the exe. I get the bottom error.

If I run autorun, I get the first error. If I run the exe. I get the bottom error.
Do NOT use autorun with this game!!!

Uninstall TR4.
Run trrc.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/trrc.exe) [TR Registry Cleaner will remove all game settings left behind after uninstalling TR games.] Only select TR4.
Re-install the game.
Apply multipatch updater (Sim's link)
ALWAYS quit the autorun.
ALWAYS launch the game from Start > All Programs > Core Design > TR4

ReadProcessMemory and WriteProcessMemory are Windows kernel debug functions. Are you sure you have detached the debugger from the process? Maybe it has been automatically attached for some reason.

Also, it may be caused if the exe binary has been modified (patch?). Have you scanned your computer for viruses?

Btw, you should update your Intel graphic drivers from HERE (http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=1862&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Home+Edition&lang=eng&strOSs=45&submit=Go%21).

To resolve this issue, change the transfer mode for your CD drive in IDE Channel Properties. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
2. Under Computer Management (Local), click Device Manager.
3. In the right pane, expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
4. Right-click the channel where your CD drive is connected, and then click Properties. Typically, this channel is Secondary IDE Channel.
5. On the Advanced Settings tab, in the Transfer ModePIO Only.

Typically, this device is Device 1. Then click OK. box for the device that represents your CD drive, click If the issue is not resolved after you change the transfer mode for the secondary IDE channel device 1, your CD drive may not be located there. Use the same procedure to change the transfer mode back to DMA if available.

Then, repeat these steps to change the transfer mode for IDE devices in the following order until the issue is resolved:
• Primary IDE channel, device 1
• Secondary IDE channel, device 0

Note: Primary IDE channel, device 1 is connected to your boot disk. This is the hard disk that typically contains your operating system.
