Garry's Mod (Half-Life 2) for people who know the game.

I went to my friends house and played it! I hated the original Half-Life 2 game but seeing Garry's Mod changed my mind! She gave me the setup file but I needed Steam and the original Half-Life 2. Does anyone know a game that I can buy I similar to this? I never play games like this but this has to be one of my favourites (Garry's Mod)

Garry's Mod is a tool, not a game.

I know but since I can't play it I was thinking if their could be a game/tool like it.

Depends on what you mean by like it. Building your own maps? Manipulating objects in-game? GMod is a tool designed specifically to work with Source engine, so you might see whether there are free mods for other games built on it. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines uses Source, as well as Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, so if you have one of these you could look for fan-made mods similar to GMod allowing you to modify their environments. I'm still not sure if that's what you're looking for though.
