For some reason TRC wont load when I click New Game, instead it gets stuck and crashes and then I have to reboot my PC. I've downloaded the vista patch thing (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/vista/patch.html), updated my RAD video tools and made sure the compatibility wasnt on windows 98 and loaded it from the start menu and it still wouldnt work. Is there anything else I havent tried or come across that can fix this problem for me? Thanks :)

I don't know if this will be any help to you Myra, but I can only ever get Chronicles to run on my PC when it's unpatched and set on Windows 2000 compatability mode. For me, using any other compatibility mode (or using the patch) causes it to crash like you've described :)

xMyrax and Ace: NO Compatibility mode!!!! Just install the game and apply the updater from THIS PAGE (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/vista/patch.html).

uninstall TR5.
Apply trrc.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/trrc.exe) TR Registry Cleaner will remove all game settings left behind after uninstalling TR games.
Re-install TR5.
Apply the Multi-updater (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/vista/patch.html)

Update your nVidia drivers to the latest:
ForceWare Release 90
Version: 93.71
Release Date: November 2, 2006
WHQL Certified
from THIS PAGE (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71.html).
Driver Installation Hints

"Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any drivers.
Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly.
Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for "NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers" or "NVIDIA Display Drivers" and select remove.

Here i see problems.
Your C:\ partition (where Windows is installed) is almost full. You must always maintain at least 15% free space for the system to work correctly.
You should move files to your free space on the other partitions you have, and Defragment your hdd.
Diskeeper Lite (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=1207) (freeware) does the job faster and easier than Windows itself.

You combine Fat32 with NTFS. If you have no good reason for that, i'd recommend you to convert C:\ and D:\ to NTFS.

To convert a volume to NTFS from the command prompt

1.
Open Command Prompt. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
2.
In the command prompt window, type: convert drive_letter: /fs:ntfs
3.
Hit the Enter key.

For example, typing convert D: /fs:ntfs would format drive D: with the ntfs format. You can convert FAT or FAT32 volumes to NTFS with this command.

Wow thats a bunch of things I should be doing for my baby XD I'm sure it'll be worth it. Thanks a lot Joseph :) I'll start working on it in the afternoon and I'll buzz this thread if something goes wrong. :wve:

Okay question, do I convert C and D to NTFS before defragmenting or after? :wve:

Joseph

Doesn't matter. You can always defragment, never too often. :)

Okay so I've converted drives C and D but I have to say, start up got slower than before o_o Is that okay?

And TRC still wont work, I think its because the CD is scratched meaning its damaged and cannot be used anymore X_X Thanks a lot for all your help Joseph :)

No that's not allright. Startup should not be affected at all.

Try to defragment all your harddiskdrives, using Diskeeper Lite (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=1207) (freeware).

Also, you have 4 partitions, 2 on each harddiskdrive.
If you know how to create partitions and have the tool for it (Partition Magic 7 or 8?), i suggest you create a third partition on your second harddiskdrive with a 3 GB size.
Then you can set the pagefile permanently on that partition, which would clear space on your C:\ drive and make that partition more stable.

Let me know if you are prepared to do that, and i'll help you further with that.

Alright. I'm not sure about the partition thing yet, but I've emptied as much space as I can from C and well
http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/7158/cah8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
I'm not sure if thats enough, if its not enough I'll put some thought into the partition thing. Also I'm not going to be saving anything on C in the future cause I'm going to be using volumes F and G. Startup is faster now and yeah, thats it. :)

5.99 GB free / 8.99GB used is perfect! It is more free space than strictly needed (15% free space is the norm). So if you can keep it more or less this way, and defragment on a regulary basis (once a week at least) you wouldn't need to move the pagefile. :)

Just keep the policy of storing all your documents on the second harddrive's partitions (which have so much space).

Will do :) Thanks for everything Joseph! ^-^
