I'm using a video camera, and now I want to transfer the videos i recorded in the computer.. I connected the usb cable, now this CD DRIVE (H:) Appeared in 'my computer' folder, and when I open it, it says "windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows"

What video camera are you using?
Download Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) run it & post the results here ;)

None taken (I mean offence) :)
No malicious functions in this prog, it is TRF official diagnostic tool. I simply need some info about your PC and OS to think what can cause your problem.

-- Edit --
Or you can wait for a mod to come. Probably Joseph... but I suppose he'll ask you the same ;)

the_force

Can I send it to you by pm instead?

EscondeR
05-01-07, 09:54
Surely yes...

-- Edit --
OK, got the PM...
But tell me what camera, what type of memory it uses.

BTW, you need to update your Video and Audio drivers. For video come here: Nvidia Official Site (http://www.nvidia.com)

the_force

The videos are not saved in the video camera's memory itself, It is all saved in a CD

And why then you don't simply put it to your existent CD-ROM drive and read it

the_force

I tried that but nothing happens...

DVD +RW/-RW/-R compatible

Why not use your F: drive then?
Do you have codecs for DVD video playback?
If no then K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm)
Please, tell me exact model name of the cam.

Did you install the codecs? What model number e.g. Sony HandyCam DCR-DVD505? Sony HandyCam must be Win2000/XP compatible.
Oh, allmost forget: Do you FINALIZE DVD in camera before playing on the PC? It's not nesessary for the PC, but maybe this is the case ;)

and what do u mean by finalize? I'm actually trying to transfer the videos in the CD to the computer?

THIS (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=DCRDVD505&Dept=cameras&CategoryName=dcc_DICamcorders_DVDHandycamCamcorder s) for DCR-DVD505... and your's is absolutely WinXP compatible, you can connect it via USB (and I suppose no drivers are needed, but if there is any CD-ROM with your camera search it for drivers) or play DVD directly in DVD-ROM/RW drive.

Not the CD but DVD. It is important you can read the disk in your drive F: only
To finalize means to close the writing session, so no more data can be added without erasing this one. The disk then has Lead-in and Lead-out and can be played in DVD-players not on PCs only.
Update your codecs and try reading DVD disk in drive F:

The versions differ only.
All that say "1.63" are the same between(download this :tmb: ), an all that say "1.62" are the same between, these are just different locations to download from ;)

It must be in the manual of you camera (read it attentivly), there must be some kind of option in camera menu to finilize the DVD.

Windows Movie Maker. If you use Windows XP SP2, you already have it. :)
