Hi, my grandad needs me to get hold of some photos off of a vey old hard drive (which had ME installed on) so he can use them on his new(er) system. now i have a spare 4pin power lead, i know that i need to connect it to the motherboard, but im not sure i have the spare lead it needs, a long 39 pin plug any ideas??? thanks
If it has Windows ME on it, make sure you install the drive as a slave!!!

If there is only 1 harddiskdrive at the moment, connect the 39 pin out of the WinME harddiskdrive as a slave to the middle plug of the same flatcable the master drive is on (at the end).

i meant i know im meant to connect the hard drive to the motherboard.
Yes, well: if you have only 1 drive currently installed, you can connect this WinME drive as slave to the same flatcable, as i said.
Incase you already have 2 drives connected to the same flatcable, and you motherboard has 2 IDE-hdd controllers, you connect this WinME drive to the second (free ) IDE controller. If in doubt where to find the controllers (which however should be very straightforward), consult your motherboard's manual.
