I started playing TR I this morning, but the sound in cutscenes didn't work. I looked through this section of the forum, and found this (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=83678) thread. I used all the steps, but it didn't work. Could anyone please help me? :)

You have NO sounddrivers installed.

To determine your exact audio chip, please download, install and run Everest Home (http://www.jozefdekkers.nl/everesthome200.zip). On the left you see a rootstructure, on the right the details.
On the left select COMPUTER > SUMMARY. On the right side, right-click on a text, select [Copy All to text]. Paste that here in a next post.

:)

Okay, that's installed. Now what?

Joseph

After intensive search i found on the Intel support site what should work as driver on your very outdated audio controller.
First create a System Restore point.
Then click on the link, download and install:
http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=N&ProductID=785&DwnldID=5582&strOSs=45&OSFullName=Windows*%20XP%20Home%20Edition&lang=eng

Thanks for all your help so far. How do I create a system restore point?

Joseph
15-01-07, 01:59
Start > All Programs > Accessories > System restore > Create Restore Point.

Thank you. I've created the system restore point and installed the driver. Is that all that I need?

I suggest now you uninstall VDMSound.
It could be that it leaves one file with the directory.
Reboot and then delete it.
Then reboot again.
Then re-install VDMSound 2.10.

Delete TOMBRAID (and the file TOMBPATH.TXT if it exists on C:\)

Now, re-install TR1 using the Advanced Installer
Yes to DgVoodoo.
Yes to let Installer configure soundcard.
Yes to create shortcut on desktop

Make sure you have the TR1 CD in your drive "Q".
Try the game.

The installer mention IRQ 5 and IRQ 7. Which one do I click on?

Joseph

Usually 7.

I've followed all the steps, but the sound is still out of sync, and I still haven't got any sound in the cutscenes. Thanks so much for your help, but I think I should give up.
