Hi there!
I know the new Windows Vista very well however i was unsure if i should ever get it or not? I saw it on a website for 135, is it worth the money and i have read the reviews and they said it was considering that it was aparently about 400 on retail

Its not worth the money at all.. Windows always charge a fortune for operating systems..

If I was you, I would wait a while for Vista to become more mainstream and used everywhere then get it, also, then the prices will have lowered.

Jamie.

...of course not. Nothing will be compatiable. It's so expensive. Wait until the price is down and Vista is a bit more compatiable with your current games, programs etc.

As everyone else has said, at the current time, sticking with XP would be your best bet. :)

If you want to waste your money on pretty 3D surfaces... sure.

I wouldn't.

XP runs well for me. There's still plenty of support services available for it, I see no reason to leave it. Especially since I have seen no major advancement in the windows platform since the transition from 3.11 to win95.

You want to talk about the old days? You weren't around for DOS. THOSE were the days. My family's first computer was a 286 IBM clone that my dad got for 3,000 dollars US and that was back in 1988.

I digress.

I'd stay away from Vista for the time being. Wait till it drops in price and the hackers have had a chance to see how "secure" it really is.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but do you have a copy for every computer in your house, or can you just buy one copy and install it on all your computers?

Well, legally I believe you're only allowed to install a standard version on one computer. there are copies of XP that allow for multiple computer installs. I could be wrong on this one.

i say if you're deadset on getting vista, wait a little while to see if there are any bugs that will need to be worked out then buy it

It depends on how old your computer are, of course if you just got a new one, maybe you could bye it, but it's a lot of money to use on just a operating system. If you have an old computer, I'd save up to a whole new computer with Windows Vista included instead. :)
